I honestly must say that J. White's Automotive has some of the worst business practices I've ever seen. My wife owns a 2012 Land Rover and I brought her car in to have an oil change and a pre-existing issue looked into. After a ballpark of around 6-8 hours and asking to agree to 3 separate diagnostic fees costing $450-$500 and that's correct diagnostic fees. I was later told we can't find anyone wrong with my transmission shifting but some contraption or gauge needs to be looked at. Now, here's the interesting thing here. I had to call them as it was getting late and there's no courtesy transport available. So, not on was I unconvinced I was overcharged and had to go out my way after hours to pick up my vehicle and was told don't arrive too late as the Police take notice. If you're a pre-existing customer you probably look at my post and say this guy is crazy but I got to tell you this place will take your money and then accuse you of not reading the fine print. Good Luck to anyone that trust this company. I'll be making sure that this is public knowlege.

From the first call, J White delivered. Their customer service is off the charts! Will, Shirley and our technician, Keith, made a very anxious and stressful situation feel a little less crazy...we encountered the 'perfect storm' with our Range Rover. J white did everything to ease the worry...they are truly a rare find in this day and age. We are now loyal customers!Services: Auto maintenance

First off I do not like writing reviews unless they are positive. Unfortunately, I had a mixed experience with J. White's, I am not sure if its because they have too many people giving their two cents or because they feel the need to nickle and dime someone regardless of the situation. Long story short I had a transfer case replaced as well as an electrical issue with the cam shaft sensor. After I picked up my Land Rover I started it, drove about .25 of a mile and my two downstream o2 sensor faults showed up on my SmartGuage, I called and they said they would deal with it if it was their fault, I brought it back they suggested another brand of sensor, I installed a different brand after paying for 1hr of labor and still both codes come up even after clearing the codes, my issue is the codes were not there when I brought it in for the transfer case replacement, now I cannot get the codes to go away no matter what I do and cannot pass inspection. I had never had a problem with these codes (ever) prior to this repair.

Since they have moved the location does not really work for me but I have followed based on their service and price point. I tend to get little up sell and can feel confident that if they offer advice i have never felt the hard push I could leave and think about what they are recommending. I like the team and would say that the new location is improved for the customers and waiting area.Services: Electrical repair

The team at J. White’s is exceptional. I had been looking for a late eighties/early nineties Ex MoD Land Rover Defender 110 soft top for quite some time. I was in touch with the J. White team at the start of my search. Owning this particular vehicle has been a dream of mine since I was a child. After finally finding a vehicle that passed my initial inspection (frame and bulkhead looked good, ran and shifted well (for an old LR!), I had the vehicle trucked to the team at J. White’s for a detailed 3+ hour pre-purchase inspection. The report that was provided to me after the inspection was incredibly detailed and thorough. The report provided me with exceptional knowledge about the vehicle which in turn allowed me to confidently make the decision that I wanted to pursue purchasing the vehicle. In addition, with the report in hand I already knew what work was going to need to be done (with parts and labor costs included) which allowed me to know what the purchase price needed to be to stay within my budget. I also appreciated that the report was broken down by priority, with safety being paramount; need to do now, 6 +/- months from now and then things to do that would bring the truck back to more of its original military roots (the convoy lighting system, dashboard, etc.) – the fun stuff for me. Once I purchased the truck the work began on making the truck safe and reliable as well as taking care of a few other odds and ends. This process took a few weeks to complete as some parts needed to be ordered from Europe. During that process Shirley kept me up to date every few days to let me know what was happening with my vehicle, even if the update was just that they were waiting for parts. What has truly compelled me to write this review was the experience I had picking up my vehicle. The final invoice was exactly what was quoted in the pre-purchase inspection report – there were absolutely no surprises – no gotchas – no BS. In addition, Peter showed me all the work that had been done on the vehicle and explained everything - he was like a proud father talking about one of his children before letting them leave home. Peter made me feel that he and the team at J. Whites were personally invested in my vehicle. It has been 3 weeks since I picked up my vehicle and the vehicle is running flawlessly. J. Whites will be the caretakers for my 110 while it is in my possession.The people at J. White’s not only care about what they are doing but are clearly passionate about the vehicles that they work on. J. Whites is a rare place where you see the off-road, Land Rover lifestyle and passion everywhere you look. My experience with Jeff, Shirley and their team started 3 years ago. They worked on our Jeep, LR3 and most recently, they completed a significant 1994 D90 upgrade. Based upon all the work that they did, I can say without hesitation that they provided the highest quality service when compared to anything that I previously received from any dealership or independent shop in the area. Their technical knowledge is superior and their communication is thorough and timely. They are committed to getting the details right and to customer satisfaction. People who know their job, people who you can trust and who consistently deliver on their promises; doesn't get better than that.

They are true experts when it comes to Land Rover. If you are bringing your LR to a dealer and are not satisfied/appalled by the treatment and lack of care/shocked by the cost....do yourself a favor and bring them to J. White's. Everyone who works there, from the front to the back, knows what they are talking about, and actually has your best interests in mind. They take the time to thoroughly explain to you what is going on with your LR, suggest a course of action, and talk you through options. They truly care!!

Had a brake issue while visiting my daughter from New York. Left car in the parking lot on a Sunday, with an explanation and the key. Got a call early Monday, they had looked at it, gave us the estimate. Car was finished Tuesday, excellent updates via text, unbelievable customer service!!! Shirley, Jim and Jeff did a great job especially under the circumstances, very stressful for us. Prices were on point. Just wish they were closer so I could have my car serviced there. Thanks again!!!

This has been my go to repair shop since I moved to Metro West several years back.
