Got a notice from MA DOR for my state taxes. My payment to Phear at the central st office did not go through…guess she must have entered something wrong, cuz my federal payment (and h&r’s fees) went through fine. Thing is Mass DOR is charging me penalties out of the gate. I figured no problem, H&R has how they stand behind their work, including penalties, plastered all over their paperwork. I’d just drop by HR and they can rerun my debit for the state taxes I owe. But all the H&R offices are closed now that tax time is over and I’m stuck owing penalties for a goof they made. Okaaay…one of the offices here in Fall River was still open like twice a week under limited hours (one in shaws plaza) so I make an appointment. First thing is the receptionist dude asks me what I want them to do about it. Before I even have a chance to mention the new penalties on my notice I now owe the manager comes walking out, hands on hips and a MAJOR attitude. I was told I had to deal with mass DOR on this, and my brand spanking new penalties they caused were my problem, and my appointment to straighten this out with them wasn’t honored. I’m sure the store owner will reply with the standard lip service about how disappointed they are my expectations weren’t met. Well, my expectations are for you to do what you say you will. Now I owe Uncle Sam more than I would if you had.Response to owner comment:Really? I already told you all about how they screamed at me, talked over me, and wouldn’t honor my appointment. You’re saying I should go back again??? Tell ya what. You have my phone and all my info and I invite you to call me. I’ll keep the board updated.

JEAN WILKINSON was a great person to work with, however, we had to wait 35 minutes even though we had a scheduled appointment. This was not her fault as she and the other associate were trying to help a third associate with a customers RI taxes. The worst was that I could not hear what Jean was saying to me due to the loud mouth co-worker on the other side of the partition. She did not have a name tag so I don't know who she was. She was on the phone the entire time talking about delivering papers, etc. Very loud and unprofessional. The girl answering the phones was on her personal cell phone using an ear bud for the 35 minutes we were sitting there. I have been a customer for 20 plus years and was very disappointed how unprofessional this office was run. Will most likely not be returning.
