Terrible Experience - No Cars Available and Poor Service. Extremely frustrating experience at Hertz Dedham. I had reserved a car well in advance, but when I arrived to pick it up, they had no vehicles available for car type I had booked, the only option they gave me was a smaller car, this is the second time this has happened here to me at this location.

I received excellent customer service from this new management team. The manager (Teddy) treated me and my cousin like old friends after meeting us for the very first time. He worked carefully to make sure we got discounts we were entitled to and gave us a good deal on an mustang convertable upgrade! Along with the good service Teddy engaged in conversation that was relatable and interesting. We could have sat there and chatted all day. I am so glad we took a chance and decided to do business with HertzCar Rental-Dedham Bridge Street. I'm looking forward to my next visit in a few days and I know my experience will be excellent again if not BETTER! I hope to post another 5 star review about my rental experience!

I was wary of my rental from this place, given some of the other reviews. However, I had a solid experience with the manager handling my rental.
He was unfortunately staffing the location alone at the end of the day with other employees out sick. Given the other customers and circumstances, he checked me out as quickly as he could and made certain I had a good vehicle.
If there are problems at the location, it would be worth it for Hertz to invest in supporting the manager, who seems to care about customers.

I got a rental through this location because my car was in the shop for a few days. From day one when I got the rental, I realized that the third row was missing from the car even though this was the third row vehicle and I have five children. I spent at least two days calling this location back to back, trying to get them to either switch the car or put the seats back in the car and they never picked up the phone for me. if anything I felt like my calls are being ignored deliberately. It was really frustrating because having this vehicle became a safety concern. I have five children four of which are under six years old and I had to do a lot to get us around for the time I had this Vehicle. When I returned the car there was no one in the office. No one taking phone calls and the staff was just wandering around disorganized. No one checked the car with me just took the key and they don’t offer transportation home. Definitely wouldn’t book with them on my own, otherwise, the car was decent.

the worst place in the world, they let you make a reservation with the car you want so you can drive for an hour and when you get there they say they don't have the car, frustrating

To echo a previous reviewer, I could give this place (Hertz Car Rental - Dedham - Bridge Street) zero or even minus review, I would. Today I had a terrible experience with them. I had some questions, so I called them yesterday and today, but the calls were never picked up. I had to make a reservation for tomorrow and noted to pick up at 5pm. When I arrived exactly at 5pm, they told me that they do not have any car for me. I said I have a confirmation for reserving a car. I asked if you do not have any cars, why did the system allow me to make a reservation and then issue a confirmation number and email. A woman sitting on the left side of the door then said that I would have to talk to the Hertz corporate people and then stated that they do this all the time when there are no cars available at the location. I asked who the manager was as I would like to talk to them and she gestured towards a man across from her. When I looked at him, he said that the manager is not in the office. Really? I asked who the second person in charge was and the woman responded, "we all are second in charge." Then they all looked at each other and laughed. There were 4 people in the office. What a terrible way to treat a customer. No empathy and not even one person said they were sorry for the situation.
The lady also said that if I reserved the car in the morning, they would have called me to tell me there was no car available. I had made the reservation in the middle of the day. She also said that you can't make reservation in the same day. If I can't make a reservation in the same day, you should indicate that on your website. Also isn't it your job to check your reservation list and notify your customer about the situation or indicate on your website there are no cars? The website listed more than 10 cars available. The system allowed to to make the reservation, enter financial & other personal info and issued a confirmation email/ number. Why then when I showed up to get the car was it a big surprise to everyone and they acted as if I was in the wrong? There were at least 4 people working, can't one of you check your reservation list and make a call? What were you doing the whole afternoon not even checking your reservation list? Is this good customer service? No, of course not. How could you do this when you are in a service field?
Whoever responds to this post, please do not just say we are striving to do better.... let the manager respond with an action plans they are going to carry out. If your website does not work, shut it down until it works. Do not deceive people' and waste their time and energy.
To the Hertz Corporate people, please do something with your website. If not, you will lose your customers and your business will suffer. I will keep sharing this terrible experience on web outlets until you fix this problem. I ask you also re-train the Dedham- Bridge Street office staff. No empathy, no concerns at all for the customer experience. I should have checked their reviews before I made my reservation as there are others who have had similar experiences.
I do have to say that in the past I did have some good experiences with them, with one worker even upgrading me because of an inconvenience Current employees today though did not exhibit good customer service skills. They need to be retrained.
After I had this experience, I went to the Enterprise car rental at 260 Milton St, Dedham, MA 02026. I did not have much hope because I didn't make a reservation, but when I walked in and asked about renting a car, I was warmly welcomed and told "of course, I would be happy to help." This service was excellent and in a few minutes, I got a car. The person's name is David Long, Assistant Manager. Worst experience of my life. 2.5 hours of my time wasted because they want to rent me a car 3 times more expensive than what I reserved. No customer service whatsoever. I will pray for them to become decent human beings especially the manager. They only want to serve customers renting through insurance to make the extra money.

Absolutely atrocious customer service. And not only does the customer service sucks the cell phone service is even worst. If I can give -20 stars I would. I am definitely not returning .

If I could give this location zero stars, I would. This was, without a doubt, the most miserable experience I've ever had with any car rental service. I made my reservation online, and when I showed up to the High Street location in Dedham they claimed "we don't have any cars". Except for some SUVs that they wanted to charge me more for.They also berated me for not calling them before I made a reservation online! That's not the way anything works, but apparently the grossly incompetent staff at this location claim that somehow *I* was at fault for using the online reservation system.As other reviews have pointed out, they refused to cancel my reservation, they refused to look in their system for other cars at other locations, and could barely be bothered to stop playing their phone games to talk with me. This location is within walking distance, but I would rather go anywhere else than deal with these horrible people again.Whatever you do, don't go with Hertz or this location. I'm shocked that they can even run a business.

This Hertz location incorrectly charged me $1000 more than what I actually owed because they never logged the proper return date of the car. This was done without sharing a receipt and it took 3 months to resolve.

This location canceled ON ME 15 minutes before I was supposed to pick up the car cause they didn't have any cars on the lot. Then they charged ME a cancelation fee, even though it was the company who canceled the reservation, not myself. The hertz Dedham associate hung up on me when I asked if she could process my refund, telling me I would have to call the 800 number. Even though it was hertz Dedham who charged me, canceled on me, and had all the information they needed to get the company to process my refund. Will never rent a car from hertz again.

I attempted to rent a car from them last night online. They called to cancel my rental a few minutes before I was set to pick it up this morning, because they did not have enough cars in the lot. Then they told me they could not look to see if the neighboring Hertz in Norwood had any cars that I could pick up. They also could not process a refund for me, so I would have to call the 800 number to get a refund for a car the local Hertz could not provide. The service rep at the counter hung up on me when I pointed out that was a really poor system that showed little care for customers, or service reps. I'll never rent from Hertz again- left me stranded without a car, with no service to help me get a car from an alternate service, and with the onus on me to process a refund when I wasn't the one to cancel.
