This is a beautiful place! Although when I went they recommended not getting into the water because it had bacteria, we still enjoyed the beautiful view. I would return again without hesitation on another occasion.

I visited Walden Pond while I was in the Boston area. This place is unique, serene, and peaceful, perfect for hiking, swimming, or relaxing. We hiked around the lake in late June. We also visited Henry David Thoreau’s small house and the original site where this famous writer lived and wrote American classics in the 1800s, seeking to liberate his soul. His desires from the 1800s convey strong messages to people living in the 21st century. I need to find a place where I can liberate myself these days.
Restrooms: There is a restroom in a visitor’s center

The book set unrealistic expectations of solitude. Instead I found a 30$ charge to go to the visitor center and swimmers stripping in the parking lot

Always a nice place, even in the winter
Restrooms: Yes, when the visitors center is open or during the warmer months, near the beach.
Dog-friendliness: No dogs allowed.

5 stars away, invited to its path around it, to swim, to see its history. . bicycle and car parking, schedules, security. A great plan.

I was not happy about the $30 fee for parking if you have out of state license plates. No wonder Thoreau opposed government, if they're willing to charge that much for parking.

As an English teacher and avid reader, of COURSE I had to come to Walden pond! There is a nice half-mile walk to the site of Thoreau’s original cabin. Across the street is a wonderful visitor center and gift shop. It was fun to imagine Thoreau walking alongside us as we trekked to his cabin. You can also see a replicated cabin near the visitor center.
Restrooms: Disgusting restroom in the swim area. Avoid if possible and use the restroom at the visitor center across the street instead.

Walden Pond does not allow or welcome service dogs. You will get screamed at and threatened if you bring a service dog. My family and I left because I was appalled at the behavior of the park ranger and several people who were at the park.

Having read Henry David Thoreau as a student many moons ago, Walden Pond was a bucket list place for me! Definitely worth the visit!

Sometimes the pond takes over...
Great, easy walk. Public restrooms, EV charging, history!
No dogs though.
