They have gotten close to a million dollars in grants in the last couple years from the state, but have rotting produce on the shelves constantly, and will sell expired food and then won’t let you return anything. Very disappointing how they’re telling the government they’re providing fresh produce to the community and that can’t be the furthest from the truth. The stench is so bad as soon as you walk in and the ceilings are leaking all over the place. They say the accept WIC, but then won’t let you purchase things like the cereal and rice that are apart of the program, which makes no sense at all. I don’t understand how any of this is up to standards. I hate to leave a bad review on a family business, but given they just got another $250,000 grant from MA GOV I don’t understand how this acceptable for the community.

I was kicked out of Fruit Fair for going into diabetic shock. I was also told that I was "scaring" the customers. Nobody offered me any medical help & I was threatened with the poloce. Fruit Fair left me passed out in an aisle for 35 MINUTES! (I know the exact time bc Sam, the co-owner rubbed it in my face.) This is how Fruit Fair treats their customers with disabilities. There are public police records of this event taking place on 12/7/2023 if anyone thinks I'm making it up. (Simply go to the CPD to have the record printed.) I called the police myself right after Fruit Fair threatened me. I needed to tell my side of the story because this was a disgusting injustice. The police officer who came to my home was so kind & understanding! He & the 911 operator explained to me that there were absolutely no records of any 911 calls coming from Fruit Fair on 12/7/2023, so Fruit Fair also lied to me about calling the police on me. The police academy teaches cops that diabetic shocki mimics drunkenness, so he understood me. He even offered to go to Fruit Fair & educate them. He kept asking me if I was okay over & over again. Amazing officer! Fruit: There are fruit flies swarming the fruit, especially the tomatoes! They lay their eggs inside the fruit. You will be sick if you eat it. Deli: There is a CONSTANT swarm of flies at the deli & the deli workers are RUDE! Frozen Food: Their freezers constantly break down, then work again, which refreezes everything. They have boxes standing up, so when their freezer breaks, all the food thaws out, slides to the bottom, then refreezes. This malfunction also causes mold. The 3rd problem is freezer burn; Lots of it. Returning anything when Sam is around is a nightmare. She is a narcissist who believes she can do no wrong. (I pity her husband bc he seems like such a sweetheart!) Sam always gave me a huge problem when I returned food...She once followed me to the parking lot to question why I was returning food! Mice are an issue. I've seen 2. Please humanely trap them. Don't hurt them. I was kicked out of Fruit Fair for going into diabetic shock. I was also told that I was "scaring" the customers. You could also feel unsteady or have trouble walking. Severe hypoglycemia (low blood sugar) can cause you to pass out. You could have seizures. It could even cause a coma or death." Source: MyHealth.Alberta.ca With diabetes, your body either doesn't make enough insulin or can't use it as well as it should. Diabetes is a chronic (long-lasting) health condition that affects how your body turns food into energy. Your body breaks down most of the food you eat into sugar (glucose) and releases it into your bloodstream. When your blood sugar goes up, it signals your pancreas to release insulin. Insulin acts like a key to let the blood sugar into your body&

I want to like and patronize this store more but each time I come I'm tempted to not return. I did not buy deli meat this time, despite coming specifically for the sales, when I noticed the previous meat sitting out on the slicer while all staff was in the back room. I'm not sure how long it was left out there. The slicers badly needed a cleaning also. This isn't the first time the deli area looks very questionable. Always be sure to check the receipt, the last several times I've shopped items listed on sale do not ring up on sale. There are always many questionable looking packages of meat- there are also many fresh ones but the discolored and past expiry meats can easily kill one's appetite for meats. And the rotten meat smell that hits you when you first enter through the doors by the freezers, I'm not sure where that's coming from but it's not what you want to experience at the grocery store.I only bring these things up because I want to see them improve because I want this supermarket to succeed and continue to grow! I'm looking forward to the fresh produce from the greenhouses built. I think the store offers a unique selection and a small, personal experience you can't get anywhere else. The staff is always friendly, the sales amazing, I just wish these specific things would improve so I could feel comfortable shopping there more often.

WARNING TO ALL DISABLED PEOPLE: Fruit Fair is NOT a safe space for people with medical conditions that cause unconsciousness. On 12/07/2023 a member of a disability support group I partake in went into diabetic shock inside Fruit Fair. She went unconscious in an aisle & was left in this VERY dangerous & vulnerable condition for OVER 30 minutes. Once she regained consciousness, she was extremely confused & didn't know what was going on. (This is common in patients exhibiting diabetic shock.) Instead of kindness & comfort, she was threatened with police & told that she was scaring customers as if she had done something wrong. The woman tried to explain to several employees that she was going through diabetic shock, but the co-owner promptly cut her off & threw her out of the store. The co-owner REFUSED to listen & learn about what diabetic shock is & the symptoms it causes in patients. The co-owner pretended to call the police on the woman as she was exiting the store. (The woman did not find out that the co-owner lied about dialing 911 until she spoke to a police officer at her home.) At this point, she knew that she also had to call the police to explain her side of the story; The true side. A kind police officer arrived & made sure the woman had eaten a candy bar to raise her blood sugar & done other things to get her out of diabetic shock. Once she was stable/no longer in diabetic shock, he was able to have a conversation with her. The police officer then headed to Fruit Fair to explain to the co-owner & other employees what diabetic shock is & what kinds of symptoms people in diabetic shock exhibit. Please do not go to Fruit Fair if you are prone to passing out; Your life literally depends on it. Are groceries really worth your life?

Ran in here to grab some hot foods for my employees for a luncheon. I had never been in the store before but I will be returning! The hot meals were amazing and homecooked and all of the meats and produce were cheaper and fresher looking than any other grocery store I've been to. Will be coming back for my personal groceries. What an amazing local business!

The owners of this establishment as I have heard from a fellow friend said that this place has emotionally abused her. She's left this place many times crying because of what the owners have said to her and have also used it against her. That isn't what management should be allowed to do and I strongly suggest that this place does better with their employees since they have to face customers everyday who do not have human decency. They should have a place of work were they feel welcomed and enjoy coming. This has confirmed that it is not an emotionally stable place to be working for teenagers.
