They have the most beautiful lighting fixtures anywhere and specialize in antique fixtures. Jane has chosen many beautiful lampshades for me over the years and they have done many lamp repairs. High quality workmanship that you cannot find anywhere else. So sorry that left Brookline but now I have left myself and moved to NH! I will be contacting Jane regarding a replacement lamp shade soon!

Fabulous one of a kind store. I have f de one business with them for years and the staff is superb and guide you to selecting the right size shade for your lamp plus the shade and lamp selection is outstanding. I see the Chestnut Hill location us closed. I was sorry to see that!

Concur with prior reviewer regarding the unfriendly nature of the staff - struck me as suspicious, rather than welcoming. I was also disappointed to find that lamps and shades here were quite highly priced. For example, their simplest shades were, on average, $90-$100 each. Had expected to find more of a range in terms of both price and style. Ultimately, when compared with various online options, including so many beautiful shades on vintage sites like Etsy, I couldn't justify a purchase here. For reference, note that the entrance is located in the back facing the parking lot.

How to find perfection in lighting? Visit Appleton's where the beautiful lamp bases and shades and the many exquisite chandeliers will more than just please you. We have purchased lamp bases, chandeliers and shades for our homes over the last ten or twelve years or longer from Appleton's and have never had a problem. This is one business that has reached perfection! Helen and Dick F.

We have had gas sconces rewired and polished/mika painted here. They do amazing work. We have also bought a couple of their chandeliers. For antique lighting, the are the best in the area. Everything in their store is beautiful.

I recently had a lamp rewired at Appleton Antique Lighting, and not only did they get the job beautifully done in under a week, but they didn't overcharge, as so many places do. I also enjoyed working with Emilia, who coordinated the job, incredibly well.

Went to drop off a Chandler for repair. Ladies there were very helpful and knowledgeable. I will admit, prices of chandeliers are not for the faint of heart.

I can not recommend this business more highly. They are simply the BEST! They have hundreds of lights and light parts, and they do repair work. The young lady who helped me was friendly and knowledgeable. I needed replacement parts for a lamp I inherited from my grandparents. She helped find exactly what I needed. Thank you light lady!

I've had a couple of fixtures rewired/repaired here and am very happy with how everything turned out. They're not cheap, but they offer a premium service, which includes cleaning, replacing missing pieces, and expertly packaging for transport. I've had fixtures worked on elsewhere and they're usually fine, but never great and I usually end up having to fix them again. I've always found everyone there to be friendly and knowledgeable.

Very helpful and accommodating service. I was in a pickle - my bathroom light fixture died AND I was throwing a party the next day......so no bathroom light and a gaping hole in the wall with capped wires! Appleton to the rescue - they fixed it by the next AM, electrician reinstalled and - party saved! No need to send my guests in with a flashlight :-) Thanks!

Exorbitantly priced from a well traveled antique chandelier collectors perspective. That being said, if you want something quick and you are willing to do a wealthy style of splurge, sure there are a few unique pieces but nothing that you won't find in Essex, MA. If you are going there for parts, they say they have many variety of things available over the phone and then after you get there, they will tell you that you have to pre-order. The customer service is even WORSE. I think there is a bit of racism into play. I wonder what these ladies at the store think of themselves. No smiles, so full arrogance. The energy, the attitude and their inventory definitely didn't win me as a customer.

My husband and I bought a beautiful slag glass lamp from an antique store and needed the frame soldered in a few places. The owner of this shop replied to my request for a quote quickly, and her staff did an excellent job repairing what will become a family heirloom.
