i’m in here almost everyday and the store is always hectic with only one person working. i don’t think any actual work gets done at this store. ive literally seen the manger sleeping in her car right in front of the store…? very unprofessional and very poor company standards if you ask me

Staff is nice. Management philosophy understaffs location (not just this store - only way for employees to catch up, it seems, is if someone stocks shelves on their own time), forcing the store to have unstocked shelves and boxes all over the place. Every time I visit, employees are not at register but out on floor stocking. No other store forces employees to do both. I hope they are paid more than other retail stores because they definitely work harder.

Worst employment decision I've ever made. The mental stress combined with the hours-on-end required physical labor with no sign of appreciation creates a low morale environment. Management makes a buck more than minimum wage to do 10x the work of associates and often work 15 hour shifts to cover the all too often staff shortages. If you aren't stocking 50 boxes per hour, you aren't working hard enough. [Actually 50, because that's the average amount on a "rolltainer"]Upper Management (district manager and beyond) provide ZERO help and consistently pin store problems on the few people that are working to keep the store afloat. Refuse to help with hiring events, refuse extra labor hours when the store is backed up by 3+ delivery loads, refuse to close early any day for stock time when there are only three employees. You can sit on the phone with your district manager and BEG for help, only to be met with a long speech about how everything is all your fault and how you specifically should be magically pushing out all the freight yourself.Staff at this Cheshire location were forced to work with no power in a freezing dark store after a large storm (doing stock with headlamps- probably an OSHA nightmare) and also worked for three business days with no access to a restroom or running water. You read that right- managers working 15 hour shifts with no restroom and no running water to wash hands during COVID!!! Another OSHA nightmare I'm sure.Managers and key holders are "permitted" their legally required 30 minute meal break however are regularly on shifts with no other manager available, so while you are punched out and off the clock, you are required to stay in the building so that associates may interrupt your off-clock meal for any key functions that they need- including voids, refunds, price changes, transaction cancels and exchanges.Schedule changes can and will happen with less than 24hr notice of scheduled shifts, and you will not be contacted or notified of short notice changes. You'll be expected to download a schedule app and check it often to know your actual schedule. The posted paper schedule is not always the "computer" schedule which is the one you must abide by.Managers and key holders are hired with knowledge that they do not have access to vehicles, then those employees are bashed for not being able to make bank runs or drop deposits and demotion is often threatened by upper management. But of course there's never any staff so you can never actually be demoted.Store Managers, Assistant Store Managers and Key Holders are not given proper training and are often rushed into position to be a body filling a spot. Managers have been scheduled to run the store alone after a total of three days of work, not knowing how to perform any key functions or any money management for opening/closing.Food safety is not performed and coolers/freezers are rarely temperature checked and you can often find several expired foods and beverages. Product rotation in coolers is non existent except for milk jugs.Truck deliveries of both dry and perishable (fresh) goods become sporadic and staff can be unprepared to receive deliveries. Although the company says you'll receive extra hours when trucks come outside of their delivery window, actually receiving the much needed hours are few and far between.Human Resources never have answers to any pressing questions, and often open a 'case' about your questions/concerns which will mysterious close days later with a note saying your issue was forwarded to your district manager. But your district manager will never follow up.Employee Response Center sometimes cannot immediately help with technical issues as they are based overseas- which an ERC employee admitted himself, saying he was in the Philippines and was unfamiliar with actual inner store workings. You'll be overworked, underpaid, never thanked, blamed for everything, and expected to smile in everyone's face in between being berated on daily conferen

Clean store. Friendly service. Only thing I dont like at this store, is that some of the food is right next to the soaps, cleaners and laundry detergents. Which makes the food smell like soap and sometimes taste soapy.

True unsung heroes! These people kept open and worked through the shutdown. They had food and other essentials, even TP when no one else did, which helped relieve alot of people's anxiety.

This store is well maintained, customer service from my experiences have mostly been good. Great prices on everyday products and goods. Lots of products to choose from. I find my experiences in Dollar General stores are superior to other "Dollar" style stores.
