"Terrible, terrible! I have long, curly hair that demands time and care when washing and brushing. Given their good reputation, I didn't mind paying a little extra for their service, expecting just a simple hair trim. However, as soon as I arrived, the 'hair stylist' washed my hair hastily, not even scrubbing the scalp and skipping. Nonetheless, the worst was yet to come. As she started brushing my hair, she showed zero patience. I politely asked her to change her brushing technique because it was causing my hair to break. She replied by claiming that my hair was very tangled, so I trusted her judgment. Now, my hair is severely damaged, with breakage and dryness caused by the aggressive brushing.I didn't want to leave a negative comment since I had a positive experience with another stylist there before. Instead, I decided to call and report what happened. Unfortunately, I received no apologies or any alternative solution. Instead, I was told that my hair was difficult to cut due to the long time since my last haircut. I'm sharing my experience here to caution other women with curly hair who struggle to find professionals who understand how to care for it. I am truly disappointed."

As a person of color , I was already quite nervous to come into a white employee dominated salon , however I gathered courgae to go in . The hairdresser asked me what I wanted and I told her I wanted a layer cut from my long size hair to short . She asked how short ,and I told her I wasn't 100%sure becasue my hair tends to curl up after it dries so it may be shorte than I want , but I gave her an approxximation and asked if we could cut it more later on as we go , like my previous hair salon . She opened her eyes wide and said "WELL I CANNOT DO THAT OKAY!? , I DONT HAVE TIME TO DO THAT ALRIGHT !??". My eyes teared up , she spoke to me as if I was a little kid get a scolding . Once she noticed how I instantly was in shock and became quiet , she realized what she did and backed down and reitirated hat statement with a fake smile as she remebered I was paying her. Then I just listened to her and went to go get my hair washed , the water always came near my face but not on it and I didnt say anything becasue I rrespected that she was an expert and knew the basics ...but boy was I wrong . As she was rinsing off the shampoo , she sprayed my eye and only offered to help when I took my hand out to rub it . Mind you , she knew when she spraye dmy eye , but didnt say sorry by herself because she thought i would be okay with it . Later on , when only i made it obvious of what she did , she laughed! she laughed and said sorry .Then when things could not get worse ...Usually hairdressers ask what your natural hair part it before cutting it , but she put a middle part for me which was not my part. Then I told her very nicely ' this is not my part and smiled kindly and told her it was on the side' and then she got pissed with her face and said "WELL . THIS IS HOW WE DO IT AT THIS SALON OKAY ? WE ALWAYS DO A MIDDLE PART'. Then again I got hurt by how she spoke to me and again she realized she upsetted me and backed down and restated it giving an explanition why she was doing a middle part .My question is why couldnt she have explained things nicely all the way from the beginnig . She could have nicely said (sorry dear , i cant cut it multiple times , however I will make sure to try my best ) or (The reason I do the middle part , is because of ..etc .....but trust me ,it will turn out good). But she did none of these .Then when it came to drying my hair , she asked how I dried it , I said naturally at home , but i would like it dried here at the salon without blowdrying it and straightnning out my natural curls. Then the only good thing that happened is , she knew to take out a diffuser for currls. And in my head I thought (atlest she has got this part right , maybe I was overthinking )...but boy was I wrong . She did not know how to use a diffuser, pobably becasue of the lack of diversity with 1 colored employee. I was trying to control and hold in my laughter when she used the diffuser on me wehn I was thinking about how other colored girls like me would react seeing how she dried my hair . SHe did not even put the diffuser to my head , she didnt even put my hair in it . What she did was slide it on the surface of my hair , the outside of my hair as if a fan were blowing over it . There was literally no point of using the diffuser . I bet you the employees were not properly trained to work with colored peoples hair .Youd think in this day and age , there would be more diveristy , but even on their website you can see the whole staff and see how uncomfortable it was for me to feel included .

The receptionist was unfriendly and my hairdresser seemed like she didn't want to be there. I asked for light layers and can't really tell that she put in any. Overall an ok haircut but not 100% what I asked for. Seemed overpriced for the experience and cut. Probably won't go back.

I’ve been a customer at The Cutting Edge for a long time and with good reason. My stylist Nicole always listens and discusses my options about color changes and what I can expect to see. When I bring in a photo of a haircut she will tell me if it will work with my hair type. I’ve never had a bad color or cut with that kind of communication. It’s a cozy place with friendly people.Service: Hairstyling
