I haven't written a review on here in forever but had such a positive experience I wanted to take a minute to let you know about it. I have been going here for many years and the service inside is always good and they have a nice selection of food and nice people who work here. But recently I tried their drive up app where you can place orders online and they bring it out to your car and I find this service to be exceptional. It's less expensive than using instacart, way faster and I've tried it 4 times so far and every time the items they have picked have been great and it's super fast and a great deal. The one time I had an issue was when we got the order and I guess some garlic fell out at some point and wasn't in our bag. They contacted us before we even noticed it was missing and actually offered to drop it off for free. We ended up being right by the store so we didn't need them to drop it off but it was really nice that they offered. The people that are running this end of the store really seem extra focused on customer service so if you are thinking of giving their online order or app functionality a try I highly recommend it. I will definitely be ordering through this more in the future!

Terribly run store, and unsafe during COVID! The only reason I shop here is because it's close to home, but I'm about to start going elsewhere. On every visit for months after COVID mask mandates started, I would encounter 2-6 employees without masks. I complained to the front end manager for months, then to the assistant manager, and finally the store manager before I saw any change. I still regularly see maskless employees eating at the registers, which should probably be a no-no even under normal circumstances - that's what break rooms are for. At one point a cashier accosted me at length for wearing a Black Lives Matter t-shirt - in front of a black bagger - and I regularly encounter a particularly loud employee who shouts conspiracy theories about the 2020 presidential election having been stolen across the aisles to his co-workers. None of this makes me feel at all safe shopping here - or that this is safe workplace for its employees, for that matter.

The only reason I shop here is because it's less than a mile from my home. Every time I go, I vow not to go again. During the spring surge of Covid, I had an employee laugh at me for asking if he could step aside (for distance sake) while I selected something off a shelf. I submitted a complaint and never received a response. All of their Covid precautions seem to be for the sake of appearance only. Hand sanitzer and sanitary wipe dispensers are often empty. The display of "clean baskets" and "used baskets" is usually empty. I was in the store yesterday and it was crowded and I challenge whether they were under their posted capacity. You can never find a small cart. They pack so many extra displays in aisles and at the ends of aisles it creates even more crowding (Covid aside, it always feels overcrowded). The produce is not very good. It is expensive and it feels dirty. Seems poorly managed overall. I WILL start shopping somewhere else.

I'm not writing about the Star Market itself, I'm writing about the woman who owns and runs the Osco Pharmacy. I want to say so much about her and I've waited a long time cause I honestly hate conveying bad vibes, but this woman is a piece of work and I'd like to warn others about her. She makes me so uneasy every time I go there or even call on the phone. She'll put you on hold for 10 minutes without a care in the world and I can feel the spite seeping from her pores. No people skills whatsoever, no patience and a brutal attitude. She forgets who she is serving and how to properly treat who she is serving-Us her customers. You may ask - Why don't you go elsewhere? It's because I have two doctors who send multiple medications there and also - WHY SHOULD I? Why can't she realize that she depends on her customers for the food on her table? She has allot to learn about business and public relations. It's a shame there are people like this in the world.

The store had a few special items in stock tonight that I have yet to find anywhere else - Strawberry flavoured Spindrift and a specific brand of paleo banana bread that I like. I didn't purchase any sparkling water during my visit, but I snagged two packs of paleo banana bread while they were on sale for half price. There were four loaves of banana bread left in the froze section; two were past the expiration date and the remaining two were unexpired. You can guess which two I bought! I'm looking forward to grabbing an eight can pack of Strawberry Spindrift at some point, so long as they have some before the sell-by date. Finding some rare goodies every now and then is the only benefit for shopping at a grocery store with absurdly overpriced products. They're open til midnight and the exact products cost a few dollars more or sometimes even double the price than what they sell at Whole Foods. As a customer, you're absolutely getting ripped off.

Produce is very hit or miss quality wise and can be very expensive ($1 per small pepper the size of a jalapeño) Star Market apparently has a policy that if you are under 25 and don't have a Massachusetts driver's license, you can't buy alcohol because they don't trust their employees to properly identify fake IDs... ok fine. I went with my boyfriend (who is 26, I am 24) and they still would not allow us to purchase alcohol even though he could have if he was alone, because I was there and had an out of state license. I told the cashier that I'm in the military- therefore will never have an in state license and he replied that if he was my boss, he wouldn't allow women in the military to drink. WOW. The manager on duty deescalated the situation a little and told me they would accept my military ID if I bring it with me in the future. Overall- weird and slightly upsetting experience. If I was Star Market, I would do what every other store in the area does for alcohol purchases- scan the ID and if necessary ask for a credit card to ensure the name is the same.

They used to have nice and helpful staff but not anymore. Today I was trying to find something so I asked one of the worker and he literally walked away from me. I wish I checked his name so I could say it.

This was my go to supermarket but over the last few months I've seen a steady increase in all their prices and they've slowly stopped carrying my go to items and replacing them with their store-brand "equivalents". I'm actually finding lower prices at Whole Foods if you can believe it. So disappointing because the Star Market is around the corner for me but I just can't justify the additional spend with fewer options anymore.

Used to work here for over a year. Co-workers were great. But customer service manager and the assistant and the store director look down on you. Like you are the one who is over 40 and still working at a supermarket. I was in high school. It was and is a high school job. And not one with a good reputation. It was a very unprofessional environment. It put a strain on my mental health. I'm really happy I got out of there and got a real job. This is nothing against the people I worked with. They were all amazing people.

Customer service is nonexistent. Also, beware of the discounted freezer at the end of the aisle as they've been selling expired frozen foods for 50% off the retail price. I'm not sure this is legal; but I am sure it is deceptive. Every time that I have had the misfortune of having to use the men's bathroom at this location; it reeks of urine and the floor is always sticky with who knows what. The sign in the bathroom door saying that they take pride in the cleanliness of their restrooms is equally ironic and disturbing since this place sells and packages food. I don't want to start to imagine what goes on in the "back of house" operations at this location.

I live at Park Ave behind the supermarket. I have seen many employees over the years. Hands up on today. John the pm manager is the worse ever. If you want to be disrespected and looking down go there.

Store has one of the best beer, wine, and liquor selections in Cambridge. Fairly upscale for a Star. Freezer aisles need to be cleaned up.
