Savenor's Butcher Shop & Market is a Boston family tradition for more than 80 years, first opened in 1939 in Cambridge. It is a gourmet butcher shop and high-end grocer with the best meat in the world, where the cuts of meat are leaps and bounds better quality than even other high-end markets. It carries beautiful grocery items, the same excellent meat products, and some sushi-grade fish. The service is superb, with knowledgeable, super friendly, and very helpful staff who go above and beyond. It is definitely pricey for most items, but the meat and cold cuts are worth it. The market has a storied history, famously associated with Julia Child, who was a loyal customer and a pioneer of French cooking in America. It remains a weekly staple for many, providing the finest meats and produce with great care.
Butter burgers are on Thursdays now, 11am-3pm. The burgers aren't nearly as flavorful as they used to be, and they no longer use Stone & Skillet English muffins as buns. Savenor's once had the greatest burger in Boston, but now it's regrettably mediocre.
