Literally the only jeweler I visit.

I called to ask about having my engagement ring resized. Matthew was extremely rude - when I asked the very reasonable question of how he would ensure it was safe if he sent away, he replied with quite the attitude that if I didn't "trust" him I shouldn't work with him. Ummmm ... okay? That's a totally normal question to ask about your engagement ring. And this is BEFORE he had my business!

Matthew is simply amazing! His artwork (leather and jewelry) are gorgeous, and his customer service is outstanding!

I have made three purchases from Matthew over five years. I do buy jewelry other places, and most important element of a decision to visit a jeweler or any showroom is measuring the skill of its curator. There's a difference between someone with reasonably good taste who loves to surround themselves in pretty things they think will sell and a person skilled in the craft who promotes wonderful art from the inside. If you decide to purchase, you will walk out with whatever you walk out with... better that you choose from two or three perfect options than a smattering of items of varied quality. Matthew makes jewelry and has an experienced eye for both technical skill and artistic vision. There is no question that whoever gets an object from this store will feel beautiful when wearing it and be complemented by others who know well-designed and exquisite jewelry.

I brought a pair of cufflinks to Matthew, one of which was missing a pearl. He ingeniously came up with a fabulous new look for them which couldn't have been more perfect.I was so very happy.

I have made two purchases here, and I had a great experience doing so. I explained my budget limits to Matthew, and I was treated with great respect and attention while I was looking at what I could afford. It is unusual to be invited to hold and examine the most valuable, unique custom jewelry in the store, but maybe I just stopped in on a good couple of days. Or, maybe every day in this store is a good one.

Matthew Feldman is an artist, rather than a jeweler. Don't bring your Seiko here for a new battery. Shop here for wearable art. I have purchased gifts from Matthew Feldman twice now. He is a remarkable guy with exquisite modern taste and attention to detail. His main two passions are handbags and jewelry, but he also has some beautiful belts and wallets. He works in leather and metals, using unusual techniques. His handbags are a things of beauty. They are quite expensive one-of-a-kind pieces of art. I would happily display one as a sculpture -- not exaggerating. I hope to one day. His jewelry is made without soldering. Read that again; no typo. He uses turned tapered pins press-fit into tiny holes and -- incredibly -- absolutely tiny screws that he makes himself. He works in a variety of precious metals. His leather goods are equally remarkable. His eye, construction techniques, and material choices are absolutely top-notch. Think Aston Martin, rather than Toyota. If you are looking for affordable, everyday inexpensive gifts, this isn't the store. If you are looking for something stunning -- something to be cared for and enjoyed for a lifetime -- then he deserves a visit to his out-of-the-way shop in Huron Village, Cambridge. I would recommend him to my closest, dearest friend.

My previous review was filtered for some reason, so here we go again since I think this place really deserves the attention. The Matthew Feldman Gallery contributes to the quiet, refined feel of the Huron Village. You should expect to get what you pay for; the quality is high and the designs refreshingly unique. Note that Matthew works with leather as well as metal, although his rings especially stand out as quasi-organic-industrial creations that have to be seen in person to appreciate fully. The staff is great too; Matthew and Sami are completely hilarious and easy to talk to. It loses one star for price, as I personally couldn't afford most of what Matthew sells (as a recent college grad). Still, even if only to appreciate the art on display, I'd highly recommend you stop in if you're passing through the Village!
