The gym itself is fine and has been recently refurbished so it looks less like it was built in the 1980s. The problem is the staff - there is really no element of customer service, everyone looks super glum and some of the stuff are just plain rude in a totally egregious way. I made a complaint to all of the available contact email addresses regarding unnecessary aggressive behavior from the staff but never received any reply. Suspect there's not really much accountability or inherent interest improving here.

Excellent facilities and has 3-4 floors: has lots of great equipment for leg day as well as arm day.The leg machine area has like 12 of each kind of machine you can imagine. The dumbbell area has a huge variety of dumbbells including 120lb pounds! It can get a bit crowded, but the best time to come 1-1.5 hours before closing time instead of at peak hours during the mid-day.

I'd say this is the cleanest gym of all the Harvard gyms near the Yard. The facility is well maintained, and the women's shower area is super nice. Unfortunately, the weight areas are still under renovation. Hopefully the floors will be done by the end of September.

For a gym its small, busy and awkward. I wish we had many more choices at Harvard but it is what it is! The staff is polite on some days but not on most. Gave it 3 stars for keeping it clean. Overall not to my liking and it could use a lot of help in staffing members for classes too.

Would be awesome if they enforced some of their rules. Students don't follow written guidelines,

This gym is ridiculously overcrowded. Even though it's on the law school campus, all the different Harvard schools can work out there, which means that it's usually a zoo. Gym use should be limited to law students.

Ridiculous that Harvard's fitness facilities are typified by this place. Wellness is most certainly not a priority on this campus.

Strange floorplan, but they made the most of a space that was adapted into a gym. Definitely a full featured gym, and convenient location for students living in grad student housing

This is probably the worst gym I've used, in part because of poor maintenance practices and in part because Harvard community members / gym users take such poor care of the facility. Cleanliness: It's pretty terrible. - In every other civilian or military gym I've used, members regularly use disinfectant wipes on benches and machines after use. That's not the case here, so I'm mindful of wiping surfaces down before use. - Most nights, the bathroom trash cans are overflowing with used paper towels. A nice, older gentleman cleans the gym near closing hours, but it doesn't seem like the student staff at the front desk do so during the day. - This is the first gym I've used in which I regularly see used towels left on the locker room floor. I've even seen a towel left next to a toilet. This reflects not only the inadequate cleaning schedule, but also Harvard gym members' lack of care. Rules: - There are rules posted prohibiting Olympic lifting, lifting without shoes, etc., but they're infrequently enforced. - I regularly see gym members doing Olympic lifts (cleans, snatches) that put other members at risk in such a small space. Gym trainers have witnessed Olympic lifts and have said nothing. - I've been told to put my shoes back on while deadlifting, but I regularly see gym members lifting without shoes and sometimes squatting **without socks** (which doesn't even make sense). If you're going to enforce the rules, have systems in place to enforce them regularly / consistently. The gym is fine enough, as the membership fee comes out of my tuition, but Harvard University and its community should do a better job in taking care of its community spaces.
