I know you might not have other options if you live here, so it might be okay. But I've been to all H-Marts, and this one is the worst, not in terms of quality or product variety, but it's just expensive. I think it's because of the Cambridge taxes. You should just go to the one in Brookline or Quincy.

I always have a bad experience everytime i come here.
This literally happened to me 3 times. I always get into it with an asian couple and its usually the boyfriend of the couple that has issues with me, they always have negative energy towards me or as if i am inconveniencing them. Its like they try so hard to show dominance in front of their girlfriend but how do you show dominance by being rude to a WOMAN?? Its the most odd thing i always experience every time i come here.
I never wrote a bad review cuz its not really h mart its the racism from some of the customers that shop there.
Today im writing a bad review because one of the employees was following me every corner i turned where the back store is. She made it so obvious too. At least try to hide it and be respectful, but she was too much in my space and i felt uncomfortable. I wasnt stealing, i had my child with me and we trying to shop for a steam pot but she ruined the whole experience once i realized she was following me and my son specifically. I straight up asked her "why are you following me? And not the others here? Its cuz i am black?" And she had nothing to say. I dont think ill be coming here anymore because i always experience some form of racism and can never shop in peace. My son is half asian so i try my best to expose him to his other side but jeez theyre so unwelcoming there. Wont be going back.

decent produce, highlight is mushrooms, goto for asian staples but deficient in western specific groceries. like for example maple syrup, bread, or vegan alternatives. prices high.

The store was closed for entrance before 9.50pm, and an employee just didn’t let us in on a rainy day, we walked there for nothing :(

While HMart has lovely produce and some tasty finds, overpriced does creep into one's description. Even with inflation and globaI stressors affecting food prices...$17 for Korean strawberries....pardon? Would Koreans even pay this? I will say the store always appears clean and stocked and the additional beverage 'wing' of the store has some fun finds from alcohol to kitchenware to toiletries. The only more stressing consideration is the staff...I tend to choose CMart or other Mom& Pop Asian markets more regularly, despite this being a 10 minute walk from my house due to the demographics-why is an Asian market primarily staffed with Hispanic workers? The only non-Hispanics are the cafe staff at Paris Baguette; I find myself questioning: If they had a diverse staff, would they still be 'enslaving' their employees to being open 365 days a year? As convenient as it is to have a store open on Thanksgiving or Christmas/Chanukkah, I would never expect/request that because people deserve to have a life outside of work & celebrate with their families. I am specifically addressing the staff at the Central Square location, as I have not been to Brookline or any other HMart location. Very curious...
