Everyone working there was polite and nice. The work was done quickly and the end product looks good. However I feel like they could’ve taken some more time in understanding my specifications. I asked to get subtle burgundy color balayage/partial balayage (whichever is subtle, not sure what it is called) in my naturally black hair. In the end, there is a lot more burgandy than I wanted.Edit: I did get a lot of compliments though :)

Just wanted to share my experience at this hair salon in Brookline. I had scheduled haircuts for my 5-year-old twins at 11 am, but when we arrived, we found all the staff just sitting around and no one was available to help my daughters. It was such a disappointing visit that we ended up leaving.I just wanted to warn you all and advise against going to this hair salon. They lost three potential customers because of their lack of service.

Giovanni did an amazing job with my hair!! I showed him a picture of what I wanted and he told me exactly what I needed to get that look. He was very thorough and didn’t cut any corners. He checked on my hair several times and would leave the product in for longer if needed and I really appreciate that he didn’t rush anything. He was clearly very experienced and I would highly recommend him to anyone! The salon itself was very nice as well. The staff were very friendly and I appreciated the free coffee and massage chair. I was also able to get my eyebrows threaded while getting my hair done so it was nice to get two things done at once

LOVE my short pixie hair cut!! Giovanni did an awesome job!!I provided some pictures and ideas and, he was like trust me, and I did. Thank you!! I left feeling fabulous and beautiful! Highly recommend to get your hair-did here. This is my go to place when I am in BOS (Brookline).

Giovanni Hair Design always does amazing things with my hair!! I’m confident knowing that I can walk in with dull colored hair and walk out feeling vibrant again! This time I went from lavender/blue to orange and I couldn’t be happier with how it turned out!! The team is of course very nice, welcoming, and skilled, thank you for everything!

My go-to place for haircuts and blowdrys! Both Giovanni and his fellow hair sytlist have incredible skill when it comes to listening to what the client wants, and delivering on that! I have always recieved massive compliments everytime I get a haircut/blowdry from there. I did not have to go for a third-party discount group as their prices for haircuts are fair, and one can recieve good discounts, so I'd suggest paying with cash/card directly.

Be prepared to spend A LOT of time at this very short-staffed salon. I've given them two chances, but after the last visit, I've decided not to return. On my first visit, I was in there for 3 1/2 hours while they corrected a bad color job. The color turned out absolutely gorgeous and I was thrilled to finally find a stylist who could give me the exact color I wanted. I should mention however, that upon arrival, after asking me what I was going to have done during the appointment, they then sent me back to the hair washing station. I was the one who had to say wait a second, I'm getting my color done today- why are you first washing my hair? They of course realized their mistake then, but I should not have had to be the one to point that out. Also, you'll have several different people working on you because they have very few staff. I didn't mind though. Also, as other reviewers mentioned, the owner doesn't listen when you tell him what you want. I told him I wanted my hair trimmed maybe half an inch, and he ended up cutting about 3 inches off of everything, telling me "it needed it." I have been trying to grow out my hair for so long and he completely set me back a minimum of six months. But I decided to return again, just for the color though.On my second visit, again, upon arrival they ask you what you'll be having done and I said I'm having roots done only. So after one person does my roots and the other washes my hair, I'm sitting there with soaking wet hair for 20 minutes with not a single person touching it. There are three staff there and I'm just sitting there. I find out later that they thought I was getting my hair cut. I mean again, people, look at your schedule! It's not that hard to see that I'm only getting my roots done. Also, again, I was asked when I walked in the door, so I'm not understanding the confusion. This may be normal customer service to them, but it is not normal to me. I've been getting my hair done for over 20 years and never had to wait for a blow dry for over 20 minutes with soaking wet hair. I expect more from my stylists, and so should you. I walked out of the salon with wet hair and I'm never returning. However, they ended charging me the full price...

If you use a Groupon with your purchase make sure it is CRYSTAL clear prior to appointment. I purchased a Groupon, told the owner and offered to give him the code when making my first appointment. He told me not to use it and instead he would give me me a similar price for being a first time customer. At the appointment, I was a greeted by a very kind receptionist/hair assistant that the owner unfortunately was rude to the entire time. I tried to pay with the Groupon after the appointment where I was instructed again to not use it by the owner. I called to make my second appointment since the money was already spent in my Groupon purchase and I wanted to clarify the price would be honored. The same very nice assistant answered the phone and spoke with the owner where I over heard him yelling at her in response and calling me a liar and making other rude comments. I cancelled my appointment, was refunded through Groupon over the incident and will not return.

Not only have I worked in top notch salons in Boston, but was in the fashion industry for years. My stylist moved and it was not easy to find someone to handle my shade. Giovanni is a pro. He takes the time not to damage my fine hair and the shade is beautiful. I watch him with his clients and he is a true pro. You can tell he has knowledge on every type of hair and style. Please avoid this place! I had an awful haircut here- Giovanni does not listen to what the client wants. He has a major ego problem and goes on and on about being trained in London and Paris so "he knows what's good for hair". Other reviews mention the same - I thought maybe the client wasn't clear - nope, Giovanni is simply an awful stylist with an ego. He insists on a "dry cut" which is essentially him going crazy on your hair with thinning shears. I have a completely uneven haircut with flyaways and spikes. He even put short layers in when I specially asked him to not have layers! He's rough on your hair, pulling and banging your head with the hair dryer. To top it off the salon is filthy! Spend your $75 elsewhere so it won't take you 2 years to grow out his butchering.
