I have been going to Gowell’s since I was a child. The homemade candy is incomparable to any other company. When John Wayne was at Mass General Hospital he used to send people to Gowell’s to buy it for him. Go to Gowell’s and treat yourself!!

Always friendly and quite helpful. My wife grew up in the area so she's been going there for her lifetime. They still remember stories of interactions she has had with Mrs Gowell before she passed. Every time we go back we will always make a stop

I’ve been in the shop a few times and both times I didn’t find their staff friendly. what would have been the third time, I called and told them I would try to make it there by 5:30 which is when they close and I was there exactly at 5:30 as the metal shutters were coming down. I knocked on the door and saw someone but she clearly wasn’t going to open up so I could get some gold coins for my students for St. Patrick’s Day. So that’s their customer service for you- they’re not going to stay open an extra minute for anybody. not sure why am surprised when they were never friendly before, and specifically seemed irritated with having customers. I will never be going there again.

Best homemade chocolate around!! Go early if it’s a holiday season, it gets busy. On the counter the sell bags of slips which are a mix of chocolates that didn’t make the grade for $3.95, which is always fun! They gift wrap the 1/2 or more boxed chocolates, which is nice. Try the dark chocolate vanilla caramels…. Sooo yum
