I love this shop... Brings back memories of when I used to live in Boston well over 25 years ago! Was just there today and it’s nice to know the cool alternative vibe is still going strong!

Buyer Beware! I recently purchased a $50 gift card from their online store and paid $5.95 to have it shipped to a local Boston address. I thought for that price my purchase would have been insured but my family member never received the gift card. I contacted the supervisor in shipping and was told that I was simply out of luck. They had not insured the package and had only required delivery confirmation from the USPS. The gift card was delivered to the high rise building my family member lives in but was never found. I was informed by Newbury that they had fulfilled their responsibility and I was out the $50. They didn't even attempt to contact the USPS. Too bad ...so sad. Such was their attitude. Just a word of advice, be sure to pay for the expedited shipping if you are expecting your purchase to be insured. I will never order from there again.

The Newbury Comics warehouse on Guest Street does in fact exist. However, I previously worked there and found that the staff (at the warehouse) are stuck up and pretentious music snobs who all look down their nose at you. If you don't like their music taste, or don't know enough about your own, they talk to you in the rudest manor. You're also given a 1 month probationary period to prove yourself or else you're let go. The tasks you're expected to pull off are more than half the time unreasonable however again, if you are not able the staff there is more than willing to make you feel bad for not being able to. I've never hated working for anyone more than the people I worked under. Also as for the store locations, not actually a comic book shop. In agreement with what someone else posted, the only comic selection is a less than cared for section with comics slouched on dusty shelves kept in poor condition. Why anyone would ever be a comic subscriber at any Newbury Comics location is beyond me, and must not care for comics at all. For any comic fans, I say support local comic shops. Not a money hungry business like Newbury Comics.

Lemme see, I guess I'll pick this one since it remains untouched... If it wasn't for amazon.com, I would have never known that this franchise exists. Ya ever see that "buy it for less" link on each amazon listing? Well, more often than not, I click on it, and am always rewarded with a fresh, factory sealed CD at a nifty discount shipped faster than a maglev train. Don't ask about all the CD's I've purchased from 'em since I stopped keeping track over ten years ago, but a copy of Witchery's latest blackened thrash metal effort "Witchkrieg" came to me in the mail the other day, and I figgered I'd review them. Wot the 'ell. When I order a CD from Newbury, it's here before I think of it, and is always in excellent condition with no scratches or crushed pivots (I HATE those 'cause it means the CD moves around in the jewel case and you have to replace the tray...aaarrgghh!!!) to be found. Do they even sell comics? I dunno. I'd like to know about their selection since the funny books are my other jones. The Pittsburgh institution known as Eide's Entertainment (look 'em up) has a very cool, geeky cousin with great taste in tunage in Massachusetts that I know online but have yet to meet in person, like many a social networking friend. If I ever find myself in town, I shall darken Newbie's doorstep and loaf a while. Until then, Newbury Comics routinely supplies me with new heavy metal noise, enabling my steel obsession when local stores fail me or when I'm too busy or sluggish to go on the hunt like the music hounds of old once did. I mean, ya just point and click. It's so easy, seductive...and you're online anyway... Besides, each time I get a package in the mail, it's like X-Mas. :D And don't worry greenies, I open the padded envelopes carefully and reuse them. Kill iTunes. Buy CD's. P.S. I dig that deranged smiley face logo with the large teeth and lazy eye that I see on every package I get from Newbie's.

This location is a warehouse. I worked there. It exists. It's next to the parking lot. Nice people, cool place to work for. That said, I have no idea what it's doing on this website since it's not a store.

It makes me laugh that some people don't think that this local exists. I happen to live right down the street from the Newbury Comics warehouse. I walk passed it occasionally, and my boyfriend happened to walk there to apply for a job. So, yes this location exists. It's right after the WGBH entrance, lobby area. The store itself is nice. They offer everything from cd's, records, clothes, dvd's, to action figures.
