W Boston: A Disappointing DisgraceMy stay at the W Hotel Boston was disastrously far from what one would expect from a Marriott co-branded establishment, traditionally known for their high standards and quality service. This experience was an unfortunate deviation from the norm, leaving me thoroughly disillusioned.Upon arrival, we were supposedly "upgraded" from a "Wonderful King" to a "Spectacular King" room. However, the so-called upgrade was a farce. The room, while larger, was cluttered with impractical, oddly-shaped furniture, rendering the extra space utterly useless. The anticipated view was nothing more than a dismal glance into an alleyway. To add insult to injury, at check-in, we were blindsided by a $35 per night destination charge on top of already premium rates. This fee, meant to be a food and beverage credit, felt more like a compulsory minimum spend at their overpriced restaurant and lounge—where a simple breakfast for two astonishingly costs around $60. Moreover, this credit was not automatically applied to our account as promised, leaving us to chase down refunds. Our room, number 1103, offered a view of nothing but the alley, subjecting us to nightly disturbances from the loud club located behind the hotel, along with disruptive street noise, garbage trucks, and other late-night commotions. The room's proximity to the stairwell further ensured a rude awakening each morning due to the sound of people traversing the stairs. Despite the room and its furnishings being noticeably old and dated, it's worth noting the sheets were of high quality—a small consolation in an otherwise disappointing setting. The incompetency extended beyond the room itself. Our room keys were inexplicably deactivated after just two days, and requesting reactivation from the front desk turned into an inquisition, with staff displaying a shocking level of rudeness and discrimination, especially towards my partner. This behavior was not only unwelcome but highlighted a concerning level of bias and disrespect from the front desk staff, seemingly influenced by race and sexual orientation.Even attempting to work in the lobby lounge was fraught with challenges, from being interrogated about our presence to being outright ignored when requesting beverages. The entrance was another point of contention, manned by staff who neither assisted with luggage nor offered basic courtesies like door opening, instead choosing to be confrontational. Our grievances were communicated to management, only to be met with indifference, as they opted to commend their staff's appalling conduct instead of addressing our concerns. This experience was the epitome of anxiety-inducing, plagued by constant uncertainty and dread over what unpleasantness would come next.In conclusion, the W Hotel Boston is a stark departure from the Marriott brand's reputation, proving to be a stressful and regrettable choice. I advise against staying here; there are far superior alternatives that truly understand the essence of hospitality. This establishment is unworthy of its "premium" label, a genuine letdown in every aspect.Rooms: Old, dated, with oversized oddly shaped furniture.Safety: Loud gang fights outside nightly.Food & drinks: Overpriced and bland if you’re able to get service.Noteworthy details: Horrible staff, front desk and door are nasty.

Experience the Divine on the level of cloud 9, as the floor of selection. Only pains were the weather had wreaked havoc, the City of Boston. so late night work, with lights no curtain can contain. The spirit board table, angel wings on the bed... just speaks to a spiritual individual. The downstairs lobby held a boppin Birthday Party, and Breakfast was an incredible delight! Thanks a million & Semper Fidelis.?????? ??☝️?✌️ the gym could use some moderate updates but still a great spot to getcha Swol On Brother!?Rooms: Spacious, cozy, Spiritual, harmonious relaxation.Nearby activities: Blue Man Group, @ theater less than 100steps away! 40min walk to the Local Fine Arts Museum, Bobba Tea. Science Museum you'll need to drive also same for aquarium.Safety: I can't speak on this behalf, as I'm slightly complacent to my acquired training. This leaves me feeling rather safe at most locations.Walkability: In my perspective / personal opinion... Most the higher sought tourists attractions, are within distance of walking from this location.Food & drinks: Bountiful! Not just at the local, but c'mon y'all it's literally Asian culture go eat some incredible food that's great for you!

Very posh hotel. The valet service was quick and efficient. The W lounge has a fun atmosphere. Wait staff was friendly and very attentive. The check in employees were knowledgeable and helpful. Our room was extremely clean, stylish and fantastic to lounge in. The corner rooms have entertaining views of the theatre district. Deep tub to soak in and a separate walk in shower. Great amenities too. Bed was comfortable and the mini bar was stocked well. Overall I'm very happy with my visit and will definitely stay again. The hotel is in a very central place; walking distance of all the local theatres. The Opera House was an easy 7 minute walk. The Wang is right next door and also Nick's Comedy Stop and Blue Man Group minutes away too.

Updating after 4 years. They clearly haven't gotten enough poor feedback, so I'll update with the latest craziness. They added a resort fee....which, while annoying is disclosed. However, not disclosed till you get the bill, is that they charge $3 for ice with drinks! C'mon man, this is just getting out of hand. Just increase the price by $3 and I wouldn't bat an eye. Majority of people want ice, even when its 24 degrees out and I can make it for free in a few minutes.Original: Good location and a nice hotel. As a Marriott rewards member, it don’t seem with the price. They charged me around $10-12 for a cup of coffee at breakfast. Typically other locations throw this in for free when I’m paying $20-27 for breakfast. I could have gotten free coffee (same kind) about 10 steps away in the lobby. Hotels must realize that this can be expensed, but I dislike when it seems unreasonable.Food & drinks: Buyer beware. They charge $3 for ice! So do they want you to ask for your drink with no ice, and get a free cup of water with free ice...drink all your water and you have free ice?

Place was clean, creative atmosphere. Overall, great stay, but the hidden "destination fee" after is ridiculous. With renting 4 rooms I knew my charges, but then I got hit with an additonal fee for something I never asked for... PER ROOM. RUDE!

Overall I wouldn’t stay here again. It didn’t feel like a W level hotel, much more like an Aloft or average Marriott (which is fine but annoying when you intentionally book a luxury level brand). The lobby was stark, empty and felt cold. I found it odd that more often than not there wasn’t anyone at the front desk. The valet was overall fine but I was disappointed they just watched us struggle with our luggage getting out of the car when we arrived instead of helping. As others mention, noise is definitely an issue. We could hear everything in the rooms around us and there was a dog that barked nonstop. Housekeeping was also knocking on our door pretty early despite having time before check out and the do not disturb sign on the door.We were going to get a drink from the minibar but decided against it as there were empty and half empty bottles in it that felt like someone might have tampered with them and housekeeping never noticed or took care of it.The hotel also didn’t have the signature W smell.Overall, minus the mini bar it’s a clean room to sleep in and is fine but it doesn’t compare to other Ws I’ve stayed at.

I was a bit disappointed with this W hotel. The room was OK, big enough and had a bathtub. What was disappointing was the level of noise at night. Unfortunately at New Year's night we had a couple verbally fighting nearby, and could hear all cursing and screaming. The breakfast was not great as well, with no buffet, limited menu choices and IMHO overpriced. However the coctails and snacks at the bar were all good.

I stayed at the W Boston last night for New Years Eve. I had an excellent stay. The front desk staff, Cory, Megan, and most notably Chovi, were super kind and welcoming and made the check in process a breeze. The room was stunning and had an excellent selection of snacks, drinks, and super high quality soaps, shampoos, and moisturizer. Additionally, the room came stocked with some beautifully comfortable robes and fresh towels. My one critique of my stay was when we got to the room, the room smelled like sulfur gas. I called the front desk and they responded immediately and fixed the problem. I believe it was coming from the toilet which had issues twice. Both times maintenance responded quickly and fixed the problem, at least temporarily. I was impressed with their professionalism and response time, but I would have preferred to not have the issues in the first place.Overall, I am highly satisfied with the W Boston's quality of the rooms, the staff's level of service and professionalism, and the sense of urgency to address the concerns of their guests. I highly recommend staying at the W Boston.
