We did everything right to make sure our travel day with a 2yr old and 2mo old went smoothly, EXCEPT book with Thrifty. Really wish I had read the reviews prior to booking as our experience exactly mirrored that recounted by so many here. The check in online and go straight to your car thing is complete nonsense. Took nearly 2 hours to get a car that hadn't even been cleaned, but at that point we didn’t even care. This is a greedy company that overbooks, over promises, and SEVERELY underperforms. Book elsewhere. Your time and sanity is more valuable than the little bit of money you may save booking with this garbage company.

More customer service reps needed asap! Stood in line for an hour, even with a reservation. 2 stars I think is generous at the moment.

Renter beware: DO NOT RENT FROM THIS COMPANY
Where to even begin. What I thought would be a great 40th birthday treat from my self has turned into a nightmare! If the deal sounds to good to be true it is!! I rented a vehicle for 6 days to get around Boston (9/9-9/14). I live in Texas so I was catching a flight back home. Talk about an unexpected charge of $570 dollar hit. I have reached out several times to find out what in the heck is going on and have only been met by according to their records these charges are good. Charges for 2 extra days, towing fees and extra amounts for insurance coverage on vehicle. Mind you when I dropped off the vehicle I waited inside in a long line to just be turned away and told they do not accept the vehicle keys for me to leave them in the vehicle out front. Big mistake!!! There’s not even a number to speak to a live person in customer service !! Now I am being charged another 2 amounts of 90 dollars for toll fees!! Please for the love of God, do not rent from these people. I will leave reviews every month if I have to to prevent anyone else from going through a horrible experience like mine. My hands are tied as they have already taken money from me and I do not live in Boston where this took place. DO NOT RENT FROM THEM!!! Photo

Scam will say your car is ready just to say oh no it’s not but you can leave the airport if you want to pay another $100. It’s insane just say the car won’t be ready.

Don't rent from Thrifty/Dollar. They are disorganized. You can't check in online because they run out of cars and try to force you to upgrade. Once I got through the long line inside, the counter to pick up the car had a line too!!!

Did the "check in online" option where we inputted additional information such as address, driver's license, etc.. Still waited in the line with everyone else inside the airport. Once we got the "paperwork" for our rental, then we waited in another line inside the parking garage where the rental actually are. Once we got through that line and into our rental, we arrived to the booth to check paperwork/license and got turned away because the vehicle wasn't "cleared to leave". I will say the guys at the last booth before leaving were great and very hospitable while dealing with things out of their control. Honestly the guys at the last booth are the only reason this is a 2 start review and not a 1 star.

Currently waiting almost 2 hours to get my prepaid car, not sure how this is even legal, there are almost no cars available but dozens of people waiting in the line, it doesn’t look like this service will ever get better unfortunately

Charged twice the price after returning the vehicle (charged my CC) with no way of contacting them as to why. I have filed out the online form and never received a reply. Next steps will be BBB and contacting my CC company to get the charge reversed. After reading these reviews, this seems to be their standard practice.

DO NOT RENT FROM THEM. We had a 1:30am reservation for a car. We arrived at 1:30am, there were 15 other people still standing in line. At 2am the lone man working the counter said that they "ran out of cars" which was a lie since we all had reservations. He just wanted to go home and we were left stranded with no car for our 4 day trip. We were staying over an hour away that night and had to pay an Uber $200 to drive there. Absolutely insane since he left all 15 of us stranded at the airport.

I don't see the point of checking in on line when you still have to wait in line there and do the same process all over again.
