TLDR; Came back here to have a ring that I bought elsewhere resized (made smaller), and had the same fantastic experience I had 7 years ago. The gentleman at the front who helped me was extremely understanding, professional and knowledgeable, and he was able to quickly and confidently resize me and help me understand some next steps (1 week for their jeweler to resize the ring, which resizing process I wanted and how that might change the finish). He was also very clear about explaining how we would select the right size for me (considering how my hands might change in different temperatures, that it would not slip past the knuckle, etc). Still, I realized as I was a block away after leaving the store that I wanted to take one more look at another size and I really wanted to be 100% sure before I committed. I came back 5 min later and he was completely understanding about my trying some different sizes again and making sure I had all the information to make the right choice, letting me make the decision I felt most comfortable with. After getting to re-try the fit, I ended up feeling confident that the size he had originally selected was the right fit for me. I came back a week later and everything went smoothly when I picked up the resized ring (again, a pleasant experience). It's been a month now, and I've been so happy with the new fit! I'm very grateful that they were able to provide me with such a pleasant experience when dealing with jewelry that has so much sentimental value to me, and I can't recommend them enough.

Always welcoming, filled with delights, I love hearing the history of the pieces, and geeking on aesthetics and history and science at the same time - Jared once proved my ring was artificial spinel using the refractive patterns, then explained the social dynamics driving interest in spinel at the time .. Anyway, rich in discoveries, playful, beautiful and carefully chosen inventory, we love this place.

I had such positive experiences both times I've visited. Both times I've come in for repairs and the man who helped me was so kind and knowledgeable! He helped me fix my anklets that needed their chain trimmed, he untangled a necklace that had a nasty knot in it too! And I have a pearl necklace that needed restringing and I got it back in perfect condition. I was nervous to send it away as it's very sentimental to me, but I would trust these people with anything. 10/10 service and kindness! They also have a beautiful jewelry selection as well.

Been looking for years for a ring to match another ring and I found it here at a reasonable price?

Had such a pleasant experience with a jewelry repair/modification. Jared was kind, detail-oriented, and communicative. The modification came out exactly the way I wanted, and exactly when they promised it. I love the store and it will be my go-to for all things jewelry!

Received a gift of antique cufflinks from SP back when I was in high school. Years later, just went there to find the perfect gift for my wife. You need to go, take your time, look around for a while, and the perfect gift WILL find you there! Fantastic service and experience.

I was hanging out with a couple of friends in Back Bay when I found out that one of my earring's back was lost (probably due to pulling on and off my mask as we walked around the stores). I called the earring manufacturer for a replacement and was told that unfortunately, they do not sell parts. I felt down because that was my favorite pair of earrings and without a back I could not wear them safely. I searched for a jewelry repair store nearby and went into Small Pleasures. The lady was very nice. Although she could not find something like the original one, she managed to find something that would secure my earrings and gave me a pair of them. I tried to pay her for the backs, she refused and said that she would like to give them to me for free (!). I thanked her and left. It has been a couple of weeks. While I am still a bit sad that I lost the uniquely shaped back by the original earring designer, I have found that her backs are much tighter, and they have been holding my earrings tightly. More importantly, I can now roam around everywhere and pull my mask around without worrying about losing my earrings. :) Thank you, thank you!

Had great experiences with Small Pleasures. My fiancé purchased my engagement ring here, and we also got my wedding band and a pair of earrings for my mother. All were great experiences. My fiancé loved working with the staff to craft my custom ring, and it turned out beautifully. They also were able to turn around my wedding band sizing quickly in a pinch when we pushed up our wedding due to COVID. The staff is knowledgeable and kind. Happy to recommend SP to others!

I took my gold chain for a repair. It has broken 3 times in the same spot where they have done the repair. Consider this if you need a piece of jewelry repaired. They don't even stand behind their craftsmanship...told me not to come back if it breaks again becuase they won't be able to fix it. Please don't waste your money.

I love this little gem of a shop on Newbury Street. It holds all kinds of vintage treasures and the repair service is excellent. The prices might be a bit higher than what you'd find at the Jewelers' Building in Downtown Crossing, but the service and experience are stellar. Personally, I prefer to pay more for a polite, professional manner, lovely atmosphere and pleasant experience. Highly recommended!

Incredibly kind and sweet staff. We were visiting Boston and did not have a big budget in mind. Jared showed us ring after ring without ever making us feel unwelcomed. He made the whole experience incredibly fun. We ended up getting something custom made within our budget. Then covid hit and shut down most businesses. Jared and Shelley both kept in touch and kept me updated. I got my ring as soon as their business was up and running. It is absolutely stunning and worth the wait. I am definitely going to be a royal customer.

Absolutely blown away by the service my partner and I got while there. We saw the shop and spontaneously decided to pop in.Employees were incredibly kind, and one in particular, whilst most likely fully knowing we weren't going to buy anything (based on our young age and my own disheveled appearance) still nonetheless went through and showed us in person every piece we found interesting, and more, with no sense of obligation to buy anything at all. It felt like the three of us were just sharing our mutual appreciation for some of the uniquely and subtly characteristic pieces they had, rather than a back-and-forth between an "employee" and us "customers." They have an incredible selection of pieces from many dates. The man showing us around made no noticeable presumptions based on my own looks- I am a male with many piercings, didn't have the cleanest hygiene that day, and was wearing inexpensive, sometimes ill-fitting clothes. I was never in one moment given the feeling that a single one of my many questions was improper or too infringing for him to answer.Furthermore, the gentleman helping us (I wish I could remember his name) was able to bring each piece out for us to see and explained everything we were interested in with incredible detail. Throughout our time there, he talked about the specifics regarding each piece's history and the culture of the era in which they were made. He went on to show the differences in how certain jewels, rings, and necklaces were made back in the 1800's/early 1900's versus today's techniques, even going as far as to sketch diagrams of cuts/reflections of light, and used UV light to show the iridescence of certain gems.Frankly, this kind man embodied the epitome of a sincere gentleman. My partner and I had a blast- it was the highlight of our day, and the man showing us around ended up expressing that he himself enjoyed the experience very much. A gem of a place, if I may make such a pun. To anyone reading, please do feel free to stop by, even if you don't particularly plan on buying anything. You'd be surprised at the joy of seeing some of the unique pieces that you really can't find anywhere else these days.Rings and necklaces, when it comes to gems and style, have, I feel, become incredibly main-streamed in this day and age. I feel that most companies approach things with a "the shinier and more flashy, the better" approach, to the point of frankly gaudy and vain expressions that underlie so many designs. This store has pieces ranging a wide variety of tastes, and included many that didn't stand out due to their visual brightness or value of the gems, but rather through the soft elegance and smooth demeanor of the character they embodied, perhaps due to the times (oftentimes more than a century ago) they were made in, and the skill of the store in determining the value and expression of pieces they buy.Definitely some eye-catching yet truly artistic items. I tend to be a very picky person when it comes to jewelry that I find tasteful and beautiful and as such do not generally enjoy such things, but I was surprised by how satisfying the experience of just looking at some of this store's pieces was.I do hope to come back. It's really a wonderful store staffed by incredibly kind people. Thank you to the man who showed us around. You made our day :)If you're in any way a fan of tasteful jewelry, I feel you would be depriving yourself by not visiting this store.Again, thank you to the kind gentleman and to Small Pleasures as a whole. I hope you all have a wonderful week.
