This grocery store is located right in downtown Boston. Great place while traveling to buy some snacks for your adventures. The fresh produce is amazing. If you are wanting something sweet the bakery has some great offerings. I had a key lime tart that was very good. If you get the cupcakes let them thaw out before eating. They are refrigerated which means the cake is a bit dry and icing hard. Once at room temp for a while they were much better! Checkout is fast because they have so many registers. Unless you have your own bag you will have to pay for one.

I rarely write reviews, but today’s experience at Roche Bros. Downtown Crossing hot bar called for this one. I went in to grab lunch during my lunch break and the service staff plus what seemed to be the guard there were very rude. It’s very unseemly to treat paying customers the way they did. I am never going back. In retrospect, I should have asked to talk to their manager to lodge a complaint against them.

I'm always able to find quality products at Roche. I recently fell in love with some tasty and well-designed gelatos that I can't find elsewhere.

Nice selection, reasonable prices and bathroom available upon request. Only problem is the lighting. It is very dark. I am tempted to bring a flashlight.

the entrance here is pretty clunky and confusing the store is hard to navigate and it’s hard to find what you need but most of the time they do have it.

I realize some of this relates to the labor pool in Boston, but there really isn't any excuse for not properly training people. Got a plate of hot food with the intention of eating in. Cashier weighed the food, scanned my drink, and I tapped my card to pay. After hitting tap to pay I placed my hand on the food container so cashier wouldn't bag it as she had already put a rubber band on it. Cashier pulled the container away from me and very nastily said "you have to pay for it first!." I had already paid, the transaction was just still processing apparently and she knew that. She could have used a different approach but she was just NASTY like I was trying to steal it. No need for the nastiness. I told her I no longer wanted it and to reverse the charges. She, NASTILY, told me I needed to go downstairs to do that. So I did.Got downstairs and there was long line with a security guard near by. Asked her where to go for returns. She tells me to stand in the long line. Asked her again if there is a special register for returns (there was one with a red light that looked like customer service) and she told me to wait in the long line again. Waited in line, got to a register and the cashier told me I needed to go to the register with the red light - where there was another line! At this point I told the guard that I was sent to this register after I had asked her TWICE which line to stand in. Guard said nothing---just glared at me.One of the people in that new line was an employee who kindly let me go ahead, so I'm grateful to him and the woman behind the return register as she was apologetic. Otherwise, this place needs to seriously address customer service with staff AND security guards. I'm sure the store has many awesome employees and this isn't directed at them but clearly there are issues! Won't be going back.

They charged me sales tax on a sparkling ice soda. I went to the CVS down the street and bought the exact same item, and there was no sales tax. Thats because it's not a taxable item. What this store is doing is illegal.

It gets a star for location because it’s near my work and I can grab simple stuff on the way home when needed. Also, the cashiers are fast. Otherwise, I’d give 1 star. I can NEVER find what anything here easily. I easily spend half my time in the store wandering around searching. Why does the Crackers/Cookies aisle have both randomly mixed together on shelves?? I hate this place.
