Incredible service from the bike shop! Took my bike to get a tuneup and some parts replaced I swear I felt like I was on a new bike. Super knowledgeable and precise mechanics dedicated to getting your bike in the best condition possible at a good price.

Michelle helped fit me for a backpacking pack yesterday - she was extremely knowledgeable and kind. She really took the time to teach me how to properly put on the pack, get it sized correctly, etc. She is a great example of what stellar customer service looks like - what an asset to the team! Thank you Michelle for spending so much time to make sure I got the perfect thing, I really appreciate it!

Exceptional service... for the priviledged few.
My husband and I went to buy a pair of shoes. During our ENTIRE 40 minutes there, trying desperately to make eye contact with the 2 employees in the shoe section, they gave 1-on-1 attention to the two customers who asked very detailed questions about the shoes, and the associates provided detailed knowledge, using many indistry-specific terms.
However, these employees failed to "read the room", so to speak... or they chose not to. The remaining customers tried to get ANY attention from the associates, and simply could not. I personally got *MAYBE* 1 minute of interaction, just so I could ask "Could I try HOKA in size 13?" THAT. WAS. IT.
It was incredulous to watch a young male customer receive undivided attention from an associate during the entire 40 minutes... and then walked away and bought NOTHING! Meanwhile, my husband had to buy a pair of Hokas with just 1 minute with the associate. There was no way we could get the associate's attention, so that we could try a different model of shoes.
It sure would be nice if the associates balanced the concept of attentiveness with democracy... that EVERY customer could get at least SOME attention, instead of just the two customers getting ALL the attention, leaving NONE for everyone else.

Penny at the cashier at this store was so considerate and went above and beyond for us! Best service we have ever received at any shop.

I was checking out and listening to Alex F. treat a customer on the phone with such unnecessary disrespect when they were asking for a product. I then went to checkout myself making friendly conversation and he gave me such attitude about trying to get a product I had pre purchased online.

This store feels understaffed. Went there a few times during the week and never got assisted. Employees in the footwear department avoid eye contact with customers and do not feel welcoming. I love REI and am a member, but I would not shop in this store again.

I love REI. It’s such a great company and very reliable. They stand by their products.
The staff at this location are fantastic! I’ve used the bike shop the most and they are so friendly and helpful and fast!

The staff here are super great and helpful! I stopped in randomly and found something that the store did not have in my size. A staff member helped me ship it to my house- with the discount that the store was offering.

Used to love this store until I had a terrible experience on my last visit with an employee that treated me poorly. I tried to contact customer service and for my disappointment they didn’t even contacted me. I thought this company would value the customer, apparently I was wrong! Not coming back!

Extremely helpful and friendly staff! I’m a frequent REI customer (online and at many locations due to travel), and the Boston staff was top notch. Had an issue with an online order (item had a manufacturing defect) and went in to them and they resolved it very well, went above and beyond to help me. Helped me avoid a potentially miserable hiking trip and shop for some new gear!

I was looking at some tennis shoes and when I wanted to order my size, the person serving saw me and left.

In prep for a winter trip, I did a bunch of online ordering of clothes in many different sizes and then returned them all, keeping the few that fit. I’m a busy mom with young kids, that’s how we have to shop. The young man who did the returns for me was not patient, almost hostile. Made me think I was breaking policy by returning unused clothes with tags. My husband has had similar experiences. Returning something unused? Should take a few minutes! I stood there forever with fussy kids. Every article, he asked questions. It was exhausting and has soured my feelings on this store. I’ve been spending most of my outdoor money at REI for two decades, in fact, as I stood there I realized that every single thing I was wearing was purchased from REI.

*UPDATE 2* It has been 2 months and REI have not relinquished in trying to enforce a triple charge on my account for one ski bag. I’ve been in talks with my credit card and REI is insistent I filled multiple exactly the same priced receipts on the same day with the same receipt number. Card company states REI is the problem in insisting on the hold. Wish I could give this scummy lying fraudulent company fewer stars. In store rep in January literally said “oh don’t worry about multi charges, those never stick” okay bud. Sure thing..*UPDATE* I’ve now been triple charged with still no resolution. It’s been 10 days since the original issue and the only changes are that they fraudulently charged me an additional time in the last day, and now reps in the physical store have dismissively refused to help in any way as well. Store employees when asked novel questions get PISSY and RUDE. I’m now out $400+ instead of $200+ for going on a week.Additional “perks”:1) The garage has also somehow increased in price so you now need to pay an un-validated/unsubsidized $14 to park and be abused by the morons at REI.2) my package was broken anyways so I’d need to return it if I didn’t so urgently need the late, broken equipment that I’m going to fix it myself and use broken brand new equipment instead of being able to return it and be triple charged a second time.*ORIGINAL* Double charged me for an expensive item I ordered for pickup while simultaneously marking the package, which tracking showed to have arrived at the store already, falsely delayed for several further days. Completely unresponsive customer support on phone and online. Need to take action through my credit card company to get the fraudulent charge reversed. Hope to never shop here again.
