I ordered a very specialized, and very expensive (almost $1,000) doorknob for my front door last autumn and was told to expect about an 8 week delay. I clarified that this for the front door. Eight weeks turned into 12, into 15, into 6 months. Over that time i repeatedly called to check in. Half the time my calls were not returned. I was often told they would check into it, and would call me back. They usually did not. When the knob finally arrived it turned out that it was NOT a front door knob, and would not work for a front door. A nightmare; you have been warned.

Great selection, with good pocket of midcentury finishes and modern styles as well. Alex and crew are excellent; knowledgeable and accommodative. Prices vary, though placed in mid/high end comparatively to box stores, but then again you are getting the quality. Value on par. To complete a total gut of our 1890, 2-fam colonial in Natick, MA we purchased everything from them: 30 door knobs/plates, 28 kitchen knobs/pulls, 24 bathroom vanity knobs/pulls, and a cavity slider pocket door (super easy install, excellent durability). Highly recommend!

Period Furniture Hardware Co is no longer on Charles St in Boston. They've moved to 113 Thoreau St, Concord MA. I reached them at their old phone number, but the new one is (978) 341-8629. We've found hard-to-replace metal fittings and latches here. They are well-stocked. Arrive with your dimensions, and maybe photos, of what you want and where you are going to put it. This store was worth going downtown for; now we'll go to them in Concord. Maybe the parking will be easier.

What a fun place filled with great pieces to add some flare to your home. Me and my husband spent a good hour going through bins to find just the right knobs for our home. The guy who was working there was very kind and helpful, finding all prices on the random treasures we had dug up in the bins.

Looked forward to coming here since I passed by the closed storefront on the weekend during my first visit to Boston back in 2016. Present day, what a complete bummer it was! The stuff is nice and we were ready to spend big for a renovation - we had waited to buy elsewhere until we checked out this shop. But I could NOT get over how incredibly rude the guy was (slim, glasses, mid-thirties). In hindsight, I should've got his name. After us asking a few questions and getting stand-offish answers steeped in condescending attitude, we walked out. While we there, we watched three other sets of customers do the same. It got to the point that it was laughable; how someone could be rude to one customer after another. I assume it's a family-run business because otherwise, he wouldn't be there for both his sake and the customers. We ended up spending our reno budget elsewhere and it still bums me out. I had such high hopes for this place since I stopped by the window years ago. Guess some things are better left imagined than experienced.

I spent about 4 hours looking for period appropriate knobs for a piece of furniture I was fixing up. This store not only has fair prices and knobs of all shapes and sizes, the staff is very knowledgeable about different styles of furniture and can point you toward whatever you're looking for!

Paul and Quinn are two of the most knowledgeable and helpful people when dealing with antique hardware. Do you need to shim an 8mm antique knob to fit a modern 7.2mm spindle from Baldwin? .... No problem. Do you need the European or American Baldwin multi-point lock profile? ... No problem. The point is hardware is complicated with many different types of configurations and combinations. These guys have an encyclopedia of knowledge to help you avoid problems in the field. An invaluable resource that should be supported if you care about hardware that is not made in China and looks as beautiful as it works. Basically, the place is more of a well curated museum of beautiful things than a store. Go take a tour and see for yourself.

They have great material - desultory service - as if they weren't really interested. I wanted replacements for two knobs - 2 broken out of sixteen I had bought there several years ago. By email, I got a quote and I mailed the broken sample - off into a void, it turns out.. A month went by - no knobs, no call, no nothing. I called to follow up - they said "we'll get right on it." Another month to mail back the knobs. They were wrong style and wrong finish. They said "we matched them correctly." I sent a photo - they said Oops! I mailed them all back A month went by - no knobs, no call, no nothing. I called. They said "obsolete; we can match only one." I said "Okay. Do your best on the other" They said "We'll do them over, but you need to pay us $5 for us to ship them back to you." Another month (four in total Aug to Dec) I called left message. They left message that they'll call back for a credit card number. They didn't I called left message. I called left message. They called and asked me to pay $15 to ship them back. You'll get better service, if your project has three or four zeroes in it.
