I am so grateful to have found Musicians Playground (MP)! After 25 years of doing little more than singing very loudly in the privacy of my own car, when for many years prior to that music was the majority of my identity, I rediscovered a part of myself that had been dormant, and it has brought me so much joy!
I think it’s easy as an adult to fall into routines that are mostly just productive and it can be scary to do something with the intention of just adding more joy to your life. Also, it’s really hard to meet new people as a working adult.
When I first called to find out more information about MP, a lot of things in my life had just shifted and I really needed to do something for myself. I wanted to be passionate about something other than my job (I’m a former speech pathologist and current special education team chair)! I was looking to get back into music, but I was also looking for connection. Seek and ye shall find!!
If I’m being honest, I was very nervous about the whole thing at first. It felt like a huge risk! Alyssa, the owner, assured me that MP was a community of adults enjoying music together. She sounded awfully serious though, even though I now know she’s just a highly trained musically talented goofball, and I worried. Would I be good enough? Would I fit in? Would it be worth it? Yes! Yes! And yes!
What lovely people, from every walk of life! What amazingly talented, engaging teachers! How remarkable to find a place where you can be true to yourself and have that authenticity mirrored by everyone around! What a wonderful sense of belonging! MP has increased my quality of life by leaps and bounds! Not only am I having so much fun in my private (voice with Tima, she’s unreal!) and group lessons (voice hits and piano fundamentals and band with Tima, Alyssa and Anika, literal rock stars!), I’ve had the unexpected pleasure of really loving learning new technique/skills (voice and piano) to the point that I am scheduling others that I’m gonna be starting soon (guitar).
Hey, if this chick, can sing with a band in front of an audience and have a blast doing it, then you can give MP a try! I truly cannot recommend Musicians Playground more highly!

My experience at Musicians Playground (MP) has been wonderful. I started in April of 2024. I work full time and take the evening piano classes with the CEO, Alyssa. She has 20 years of teaching experience and is a trained classical pianist and total jokester. The school has the finest Yamaha digital pianos out there. Alyssa uses cool piano lab technology to facilitate group learning which means that we can we can practice individually while being in a group setting or we can hear one another and play together. Group lessons are truly collaborative AND personalized. I've been able to book practice time on the weekends on the baby grand piano as well. The entire space is beautiful and I feel so enthusiastic and motivated to study music!

I've been an MP member for a couple of years. This is a really awesome community for music lovers. When I started off, I was more experienced in piano and was taking vocal lessons, which helped me get comfortable with playing the two instruments at the same time and creating music in my own way. These days, I spend most of my time here in band sessions. I definitely appreciate more how important it is to listen and to use your ears, especially when you work with other instrumentalists. I've met many interesting people and made great friends at MP. I'm glad I found this place!

MP is the place to unleash your inner creative side. The group classes are in bite size amounts and you get tons or practice time. The atmosphere is very welcoming and encouraging despite all the mistakes. Playing with other adult musicians is absolutely a pleasure. The teachers at MP are highly recommended :)

I have always loved music. I played piano as a kid and have sung casually here and there. I had been looking for a place to resharpen my underlying skills when I found The Musician’s Playground on a whim. I have really enjoyed the classes, both group and individual. All of the Teachers are fantastic! I am learning (voice) and re-learning (piano) theory that I am soaking up like a sponge. It has given me the impetus to keep improving. I also love the community of people who, like me, have music in the veins. It is a very fun distraction from my busy life, and I can make it as challenging as I need it to be with higher level music options and performance opportunities.

As an experienced pianist, I was really missing my music community after I moved to the city. I found Musicians Playground through a Google search, and it was the best discovery I've ever made. This place is awesome - fun group classes where you get to jam out with other people, experienced instructors who are amazing with their instruments, private lessons, and other special courses (my favorite was the composition course). Not to mention their happy hours which helped me get back into performing. It's a very welcoming, upbeat vibe <3

Music is the universal language and unites people in a unique way. Musicians Playground makes this idea real in the heart of downtown Boston. The teachers and staff are outstanding professionals but are also friendly and encouraging. The atmosphere is casual and relaxed, with both adults and children just having a good time. I've been a beginner piano student forever -- I never got past the first few lessons. After a month or so at Musicians Playground, I definitely feel like I am making real progress. Most of all, it's been fun! I can't wait to keep learning, make new friends and continue being part of this wonderful community!

When I moved to Boston a year ago, I was just looking for a place to practice violin. But I was lucky enough to find Musicians Playground, which has become much more to me than just somewhere to practice. Freedom to explore your own music during open practice, private lessons with knowledgeable instructors, happy hours to show off what you've learned and be part of the community - MP has it all, and I enjoyed every one of them. And I'd especially like to thank Alyssa and Adrian for accommodating my unconventional practice needs. I'm sad to leave town, but if I ever come back I wouldn't think twice before joining again.

The MP is beautiful one-of-a-kind music studio and a vibrant music community in the heart of downtown Boston. I took the beginning piano classes with Alyssa T. She was incredibly personable and took the time to ensure that each student felt heard and progressed at their own pace. The perfect mix of theory, music reading, and rhythm exercises in every lesson kept the entire class engaged. She found the time to sit with each of us and address our musical needs. I felt motivated after each class to keep playing and excited about the next lesson. Alyssa's passion for teaching is undeniable and made the classes beyond enjoyable. I highly recommend this place for anyone looking to learn and thrive in music.
