Very good experience.First of all, I like the lady in charge of the explanation very much. She is very enthusiastic. Most importantly, the quality of her explanation is very good and vivid. In addition to the furnishings in the room, the life and history of the Gibson family, she also has some knowledge about the history of Boston. . I am a Chinese who came to study abroad. For us, it is a good perspective to understand American history and culture.Secondly, most of the furnishings in the room are intact. Even if some knitted fabrics have lost their original luster due to long time, you can still get a glimpse of the aesthetics and taste of the owner's family at that time.Highly recommended. Be sure to take this Guided Tour.

Beautiful house with a lot of interesting history and things to see! I've lived in and around Boston for over a decade now, this was the first I had heard of this museum and I'm so glad I got to see it. Most of the original house was left untouched, 80% from what I recall, it's a must-see. The tour was great and thorough. Keep an eye open for interesting letters, tools/knicknacks, and artwork!

Our tour of the house proved to be a truly wonderful experience. The unique charm of the house itself held our attention, and our guide's combination of personable demeanor and extensive knowledge enriched the visit further. The tour was informative, engaging, and allowed us to glean insights into the history and intricacies of the place. While the overall experience was positive, I am withholding a star due to a few considerations. Accessibility emerged as a notable concern. It became apparent that the house might pose challenges for individuals with disabilities. Navigating the premises could prove difficult, if not outright impossible, for those requiring mobility assistance. It's important for prospective visitors to be aware of this limitation and plan accordingly. Moreover, a word of caution regarding the timing of the visit, particularly during the height of summer, is prudent. While the staff made commendable efforts to mitigate the effects of high temperatures by providing fans, the conditions might not be conducive to comfort for all visitors. The sweltering heat of the season could potentially detract from the overall enjoyment of the tour.Nevertheless, despite these considerations, I am enthusiastic in recommending this experience to others. The intriguing nature of the house itself, coupled with the expertise and friendliness of our guide, made the visit memorable and enriching. For those with an interest in history and a tolerance for the potential weather challenges, this tour offers a delightful glimpse into the past. The efforts of the staff to ensure a pleasant experience, including their efforts to keep visitors cool, are commendable and add to the overall positive impression. In conclusion, the tour of this house left a favorable impression. The engaging guide, along with the historical significance of the location, made for an enjoyable and educational outing. While considerations regarding accessibility and the season should be taken into account, the overall experience comes highly recommended for those seeking a unique and informative exploration into the past.

This Victorian townhouse museum is an absolute hidden gem and was my favorite stop on my Bookish explorations of Boston. It’s where they filmed parts of Little Women, and as a Harry Potter fan, I found it to be a perfect dupe for Grimmauld Place! Curated and donated to the public by a gay author, the house is a slice of queer history that houses three generations of Gibson family members and dozens of servants between 1859 and 1954. The Gibson House Museum is open to the public year-round by guided tour. Tickets are $12 for adults, $10 for students, and $5 for children.

Interesting tour of a beautifully decorated house. If you enjoy exploring historic houses and you have some time to spend in Boston, then I would recommend getting a tour of the Gibson House. There are a number of unique decorative choices that were made for this house, and the tour is informative. It was my tour guide's last day, but they were enthusiastic and happy to take questions. If the rest of the tour guides have a similar demeanor, then you will have an enjoyable tour.

What a wonderful tour! My tour guide, Sam, was very kind, clear, and did a great job at story telling. Really enjoyed this tour because I'm very interested in historical architecture, historical interior design, and how people lived back in the day. It was really nice to see original features of the house and learn about the Gibson family. I did both the At Home with the Gibsons tour ($10 + fees) and the Upstairs and Downstairs tour ($15 + fees). (Each a 45 min tour) The difference in terms of what you see is in the At Home tour, you see an extra room of the family's that you don't see in the other tour. In the Upstairs & Downstairs tour, I got to see the 5th floor which I didn't see in the other tour. Some of the same information overlapped between the 2 tours (but I totally didn't mind hearing the information again as I missed some things the first time). But there is also some information mentioned in each tour that you won't hear in the other. I recommend seeing both if you're a history buff & interested in these kinds of things! They were both fairly cheap too, so why not. The only downside is that the house is hot due to no central air (it's an old house!), but the museum smartly provides little handheld fans. (I came during a hot summer month) I didn't mind that much though. Overall, it was a great experience and I didn't learn about other historical home tours in Boston until the very end of my trip in Boston. I would've wanted to see them all. (More advertising if possible?!) Maybe next time!

Interesting experience, I love learning more about the history of my beautiful country. Dian gave me a tour and trust me she was the best story teller ever. Very nice and patient.

This was such a fun place to visit! I had no idea it existed until I had to look up things to do with my parents when they were visiting and it was raining/snowing and I didn't want them to have to walk too far. Fair warning, it's a Victorian house so if you don't like 18th century stuff you'll probably not like it. Usually only my mom is into that stuff, but our guide Carlos was awesome and legit made me laugh. I loved the "husband bell" thing. There's like five tours so I'm probably going to go back next time my parents are in town.
