I reserved a full-sized car through the Dollar website, but when I showed up to the local office they said that a Malibu wasn't available and al they had was a Nissan Kicks (small SUV) for a $129/day upcharge. I argued that I already had a reservation without that fee, but they basically said take it leave it...pay the $129/day extra or don't get a car today and get on a waiting list. This is a great example of price gouging. Bottom line-- find somewhere else to rent a car- these people are crooks. There are many reviews for this location from people with similar experiences.

Upon arrival, I had to pay extra $261 for an upgrade simply because Dollar car rental Boston Park Plaza did not have the car I reserved. My options were: 1, pay for an upgrade, 2 take an electric car, or 3 walk away and lose the prepaid $. I used to work for Budget rent a car. We never charge for an upgrade if the location doesn't have the reserved car. Who wants to rent an electric car in Boston, New York or Philadelphia? After my trip, I filled out the online form for complaint, it has been 10 days now, no response from Dollar.

Worst location ever!!! Returned a vehicle and rental company sent me my bill via email and charged me additional $250 for “outside washing”. I have never heard of a rental company charging for something like this. I have rented from this company for over 10years and never experienced anything like this. No longer going to rent from there. They just lost a valuable customer. Stay away from this company and especially this location!

2 hour wait time so you can try to up-sale costumers while not hiring enough staff for busy days.

Maybe things have changed. I booked this car as it was advertised as $70 a day. When I returned it a day later I paid $300+. The upside, when I rented it, I didn’t wait long and the staff were nice. I tried to call the office and it took almost 40 mins before someone picked up but they did resolve the issue. I dropped off at this location and it’s interesting that you park the car on the 5th floor then come downstairs to do the check out. That was never mentioned when I called but I figured it out and now you will too. If you’re in Boston and you can help it, just do a ride share.

9 out of 10 customers who come here leave without getting a car back because the employees try to take the customers for fools

Me and my boyfriend rented a car in Boston for 2 days to drive to Stowe Vermont. We booked online and everything went smooth. We got Orange Kia and car was perfect. We did return it with a small delay (coz of traffic jam) and they didn’t charge us extra money. Very good experience. Good value of money.

I should have checked the many many terrible reviews of this place before renting. It is just awful and I can’t believe they can stay in business. Just got off my flight to find out they won’t home or my reservation and they are not sure when they can get me a car. There are multiple reviews of this exact problem. Do not rent from them.

I strongly advise against this rental agency. We rented a car from Dollar. We had to wait 40 minutes for the car to be ready. When we left the dashboard showed very different tire pressures: 1 wheel at 43 PSI, one at 36 and 2 at 30 PSI. After 30 minutes an alarm appeared because one wheel went to 29 PSI. We stopped at the first station to re-inflate all the wheels to 36 PSI (manufacturer's recommended value). The pressure remained constant until the end of the day. When we explained the situation to the rental company when returning the car in the evening, they denied it, saying that we had probably hit a nail.It is extremely dangerous to rent cars with under-inflated wheels, especially in snowy weather as was the case today. However, there was no questioning from the rental company...

Do not use! I should've read the yelp reviews, but I never thought in America a business would be third world before. Man was I wrong. Go elsewhere. You're literally waiting in a huge line because "they have no cars".

got invoiced $20 convenience fee on the $4.95 toll charge. what an absolute scam! avoid this company at all cost. get a different car rental, even if initially more expensive, because you will end up paying WAY more for dollar car rental in the end because of all the extra charges and fees. it’s a scam company

I would give the office staff 4/5 stars although they never walked me around the car and I later found a large dent. The reason for the 1 star is their outrageous toll policy with PlatePass. I purposely avoided tolls during my three week rental but went through one $1.75 toll on the mass turnpike. I just got the bill for it...$6.10 for the toll and a $19.98 "convenience" fee. Should be illegal. Also, they don't warn you ahead of time that if you slide the plate on the transponder, it activates unlimited tolls for $15/day plus the cost of the tolls. I'm going to reach out to the Mass AG's office to file a complaint. Talk about junk fees.
