Citizens Bank is by far the worst bank I've ever had! Dirty and disgusting just like their CEO Bruce Van Saun. What a complete and utter joke no wonder America is declining like the Romans did before us. The one bright spot in the field of banking is the far superior bank Santlander, but alas I fear that their owners grow more and more disgusted at having branches in the same country as the dirty worthless and disgusting company that is Citizens. Only a complete and utter l**** would work for a garbage company like Citizens!

I went to close the account with citizens there (Copley branch) and to take out all my money in a form of certified check. They failed to inform me that there was a pending transaction on the account (a transaction that appeared as complete on my end) so technically, account wasn't closed and I got hit with service fees for two months for having an account open without money on it. Also, two letters notifying me of these fees came almost together, after two months. I went to Tremont St location trying to get help but they said there was nothing they could do to help, so I just paid all my fees and hope this is my last interaction and transaction with this most unhelpful, not caring about small costumers, bank.

This bank is an absolute mess. My condo association has had an account with them for six months and their website/tech is RIDICULOUS--it times out or doesn't work more than half the time. Even basic functionality, like a password reset, hasn't worked for the entire time we've had an account with them. Anytime you need to do something simple you will end up needing to spend hours on the phone with them. (And if their tech is this incompetent, I shudder to think what their digital SECURITY is like.) Stay far away from this bank if you value your time, or expect to be able to complete basic banking tasks on the website or mobile app on a regular basis.

I would give negative stars if I could. This review isn't for this branch but for the Citizen's Bank cooperation in general. My father died from complications of Covid last year. He lived in a nursing home, had no property and just a couple bank accounts totaling less than 3K. Another bank had no problem transferring his funds to me after I showed a death certificate and documentation that I was his next of kin. He also had $200 in a Citizen's account. $200!!!! After hours on the phone getting conflicting information about how to close his account and then spending hours in person on my days off trying to find someone at a branch who would speak to me about closing it because I wasn't the account holder, I was finally told that I had to drive one hour each way to the courthouse and pay $120 to file paperwork that I'm his executor!!! For $200!!!! It's not worth it so I just decided to leave the money where it is. Fast forward several months, Citizen's keeps sending statements to his old address that someone there then must forward to me!!!! I called again today and they won't change the address because it's not my account even though his death certificate is on file with them!!! Now I will be forced on another day off to pay the $120 just to have them stop sending statements to an incorrect address!!!!

After being a citizens bank account holder for almost 19 years and never having any issues, I get a letter stating they are closing my accounts and are not require to give me a reason. I call customer service because I am bewildered and the supervisor there tells me the same thing, they don't need to give me a reason then does not allow me to talk to her supervisor. I am incensed that I have all these checks that are now useless to me, during a pandemic I now must go to another bank to open an account in order to pay my bills and get my direct deposit check a place to go, incredible! No issues with them, not one overdrawn check in almost 19 years and absolutely no reason given. No way to do business!

Terrible customer experience here. I went into the branch was never greeted. Went and sat down to be seen reps were walking around talking to each other and I was never acknowledged. I was coming to do handle my business account. I’m really thinking of closing those 5 accounts

I wish. Citizens does not keep its word. Employee turnover is high. 20 years ago they were very good. Every year they drop a notch. I gave them too many chances. They still lied. I'm done with them.

This bank is behind the times big time. While more and more banks are opening up with no service charges or fees, Citizens bank still takes a massive $4 out of your account for nothing. I only use it to tie to my income share agreement for school so I don't keep much money in there and $4 matters because if I don't keep an eye on it they will surely overdraft you and fee you. Additionally, their mobile app is in the Stone Age. Not easy to navigate, not intuitive and just a big headache. Try taking notes from CapitalOne or Chase Bank.
