Enter a narrow entrance at 705 and go to the second floor. Not always open according to the Google map office hour.

See my posting above: book in mint condition, prompt service, amazing work all the way around. yes, I highly recommend the Boston Book Company and their very fine staff.

In 2016 I purchased from Helen, the proprietor of the Boston Book Company, the manuscript edition of Henry David Thoreau. This is the cloth edition and remarkably, it still had the dust jackets from 1906. Having seen at least one hundred sets of this edition over forty years of Thoreau collecting, this is the finest example I had seen. Helen made me feel welcome. At the end of the deal, I thanked her with a kiss to the cheek. Thanks Helen!

I called seeking information about resources for selling rare books I had inherited and was coldly hung up with out any chance for a conversation.

Very disappointed in the service from this shop. My partner's father recently passed and left us with many antique, rare books. We called this shop in hopes of establishing a connection with someone who could help us assess and sell the books (we have all the documentation from his father's purchases). We were treated with extreme disrespect, accused of being frauds by the person on the phone and hung up on without chance for conversation. We aren't antiquarian book collectors and as such might not know all the right questions to ask or language to use. We were shocked by the treatment we received in our search of information, and had hoped for a more pleasant experience. We will take our search elsewhere.
