The staff was super friendly. I was provided with an estimate before any services were performed. The Veterinarian was knowledgeable and explained things in layman terms.

A laparoscopic spay costs ~$5k with a ~$300 consult fee plus bloodwork. This is more than twice the cost at other hospitals in the Boston area. I called several hospitals for quotes which were all around the $2k price point, but I guess I didn't call bluepearl before our appointment. I was completely shocked by the cost and wish someone had told me it would be so much more compared to other clinics when I made the appointment so I could've canceled the consult and used that money to go somewhere else. One star for the staff and doctor. They were kind and professional. They explained the cost difference was due to bluepearl being a specialty hospital and having expensive equipment. As somebody who has worked clinically and in medical sales, that doesn't explain the stark price difference. If the cost to the hospital is truly so much more than other hospitals, they should not offer the procedure from a business standpoint and as a courtesy to pet owners. I did not plan to leave a review, but they requested one so here it is.

We are so happy about the care Chopper received at Blue Pearl Charlestown. The vet assistants, reception and Dr. Cleveland were all extremely caring and competent. Chop is healing nicely from his surgery. We feel lucky to have had Blue Pearl in our time of need. Well worth the drive from Truro

With one caveat Blue Pearl, could not be better. They are professional, punctual and friendly. They explain the pros and cons of their recommendations for tests and procedures in a non-hard sell way. The caveat is the sky rocketing expense of these things. It’s probably the same everywhere, so this is philosophical, more than a reflection of Blue Pearl, but for an office visit and canine, ultrasound it came to just about $1,000 and this is only the tip of the iceberg for what I’ll be spending there. We’ll do anything for our pets. Sometimes, I wonder if there were a way to quantify all the pets that don’t get all these tests and treatments because it’s not an option, would they be any worse off? I would not be surprised if, in general, they’re not.

They have a $225 consultation fee for any visit that they will not inform you of and slap into the invoice when you discharge. Would give 0 stars if I could- unless it is a real emergency do not come here, we paid $450 for a routine pink eye visitEdit: We’re aware of what you said and that the prices you set reflect the level of care, that’s not what is upsetting. What is upsetting is that the pricing is far from transparent and seems deliberately worded to take more money than necessary from unassuming customers. No pricing was ever discussed and no alternatives were ever suggested, that is just a lie. In fact, our dog was taken and we were explicitly told we could not see her until the vet was done. It was only after this that we were even told what treatment was given and what we owe.

Compassion and kindness from the concierge to the front desk to my consultation with Dr. Cleveland. He made a distressing situation less painful with his explanation of my pup’s illness. Made us feel like my dog was his only patient. I thank him and the staff at Blue Pearl for their very personal attention. Immaculate pet hospital.

My Dog, 12 yr Pooshon was seen at Blue Pearl in Charlestown the day after Thanksgiving, 2023. Because he had stopped eating for a whole day and a half and I was very concerned. My PCP vet's office was closed for the long weekend. Receptionists were super friendly and my dog was seen soon. After triage, Vet named Amanda, DVM informed me that my dog has tick born disease. I told her that's curious to me because he was just seen in Sept and got complete heartwarm and lyme test, as well as shots. He is an indoor dog. My dog was in a lot of pain. Vet recommended that my dog be kept overnight for observation and blood test. She also informed me it would be $3500-$4500 in cost just for over night observation. I took him home with prescription of Gabanpentin, Doxycycline and Codeine. because I could not afford this cost and I could observe him.She said these meds were to treat possible tick born disease. No other recommendation. Next coupld of days, my dog still had same sx. On Tuesday, I took him to my PCP vet's office. After extensive testing, I was told my dog has Lymphoma. My dog was euthanized on Dec. 4th, because now he was in late stage of Lymphoma. Here is my gripe with Blue Pearl. I thought they at least did blood test to determine whether he had tick born disease or not. He was there for 20 min. and was not given any blood test. ( I found out after calling them 2 days later). I found out, through my own vet that this blood test takes 10 min. and does not have to be sent to a lab. Blue Pearl charged me $500 for 20 min of misdiagnosis and extra for meds. Only after I took him to my own vet on Tuesday, was he given a blood test and diagnosed with Lymphoma. Blue Pearl misdiagnosed him and gave him medication that does not treat his real diagnosis. furthermore, they did not even call my primary vet's office to follow through whether he had shots or not. they are irresponsible, and seem to care only about $$$.

Been here 3 times (unfortunately) but overall I would recommend this place for emergency and middle-of-the-night issues. The staff is friendly, patient with questions, and compassionate. And they actually answer the phone! When my cat was hospitalized, they were flexible and friendly when I called ahead to come visit outside their stated visiting hours. They were upfront about the low and high costs of the potential treatments needed.Discharge was easy and the tech was informational on preventative methods. I was super impressed by how diligent they were with noting down things I said in my visits (feeding schedule, liquid medication would be difficult with my cats, etc.) and they adjusted treatments and provided relevant discharge instructions accordingly.I did have to wait prior to my cat being treated each time but that was understandable given there were other pets in more urgent conditions. I do think the $250 fee just for the initial exam by a vet is pricey (hence 4 stars instead of 5).

This is the first time my furbaby and I came here. She has a condition that needs to be addressed as soon as possible. When I walked in I was greeted with smiles and the team was very nice and made me feel comfortable. (I was extremely nervous) I didn’t have to wait long at all we were called in quickly. We met Dr Cleveland and he was amazing to discuss my dogs issues very detailed and comforting as overwhelmed as I was THANK YOU TO YOU ALL!!!! I really like BluePearl :)

. I have a gorgeous cat who has stopped eating. Vomiting all the time. Not wanting to move at all.$250 just to talk to the vet. Suddenly x-rays over $300. Blood work $200. I chose blood work. Money was tight because moving real soon. Wasn't called for two days on the results. In the end she had to be put to sleep. In the end they helped make this as easy as possible. I felt like I was kind of forgotten being the pet owner at first but after all was done. They did help me end her suffering and honestly maid it easy and comfortable as possible.

I would have given Blue Pearl a five star rating before my last visit. I’ve brought my dog to see Dr. Cavett a handful of times over the past year, I think she’s wonderful. All past visits minus my last visit had been fine. I’ve felt confident with them but most of all I trusted staff with my dog.I did however have an incident that was truly upsetting my last visit watching a vet tech dragging my very friendly, very terrified shitzu to the exam room. Only steps away but still hard to watch, and I’m sure terrifying to my dog. That’s Not acceptable, we all know it takes one incident to terrify a dog . I was able to speak with the clinic manager that was appreciated but all and all didn’t change the fact it happened and needed not have. Just wanted others to be aware and observant.

On 9/25/23, we rushed our cat to BluePearl Pet Hospital in Waltham, where she was administered an ultrasound. Our regular vet examined her at 8 am that morning suspecting that she suffered from pancreatitis. He recommended another emergency pet hospital, but they were unable to accommodate us.During 3 hr wait she walked around the room and we observed no unusual tail activity. When we collected our cat after procedure she was in carrier as she was when we gave her to technician. We had no opportunity to see our cat physically stand or move until we returned home late that day.We weren't given any pre/post-treatment guidance regarding what to expect and never advised that she would be shaved. When we got home and let her out of the carrier, we noticed her tail was dragging on the floor and that she could not raise it or "flick" it as she normally would. We were not advised by a technician or anyone else at BluePearl that our cat’s tail was not typical or unusual in any manner.Sometime during ultrasound prep/procedure,someone roughly pulled or mishandled her tail causing nerve damage. We were forced to pay for additional services due to their negligence.NO OTHER PARTY IS RESPONSIBLE.
