Branched out from the Chestnut Hill location to the downtown one, since this location is closer to my office and I was feeling a Friday workout. The Red Room here is much bigger, and, maybe because I went during the mid-day lunch hour, the locker area felt a lot more spacious and I wasn't dodging everyone else to get my clothes/bag. And this is the OG Boston Barry's which celebrated its 10th birthday last year. That said, I do think the front desk girls can be a little nicer. No hi, no welcome, no other intro upon me walking inside. I kind of felt like I was intruding on their conversation. It was my first time at this location and so I decided to figure out on my own where the lockers were. (Note #1: The one perk that I really appreciate with the mobile Barry's app is that it lets you bypass the front desk and check in on your phone. Alas, if you sign up via ClassPass, you still have to check in in-person no later than five minutes before the start of class.) My class was with Kate and she was super friendly/led a good workout with a mix of sprints/hills. The class was also blessedly small. (Note #2: I know it may seem corny to some but I love it when instructors tell you to high five/fist bump the person next to you. It's always a bummer when the other person is too wrapped up in their workout/their reflection in the mirror to notice me extending a fist bump and then me awkwardly retracting it.) Parking: From their website, they validate parking at the 33 Arch St garage. On the weekends, it's a flat rate of $6, so you can do a class and wander around the area afterwards.

Horrible. Got injured from Olivia's class on 09/01. She was having the class do poor exercises: avoid her. Almost six weeks out, I still cannot workout and have provided medical documentation to this location's manager. All I asked for was a refund of the classes left on my monthly membership and my membership cancelled. Management said they would freeze my membership, but they did not do this: in fact, they did the opposite and charged me (without notice). Disappointing to not only get injured from Barry's, but also for this location's management to make things even more difficult.

The workout itself was so much fun. It's been a while since I've sweat this much during a workout. Music was fun, and energy in the room was good It was my first class and I was so excited for it. However, the front desk barely helped me navigate what to do unless I asked them questions. The instructors didn't help much at all and I had to get assistance from people attending the class instead. The instructors would try to hype me up, but I was disappointed in the lack of help to get me started. I was basically figuring things out all on my own.

Be warned: arrive with a large water bottle already full! This studio has no water bottle filler, so you have to ask staff to fill it for you behind the smoothie bar. It seems really odd that a luxury workout facility would not provide water for people to fill bottles, given the sweaty nature of the workout.Otherwise if you are extremely busy and don't want to think about your workout, this place is perfect. Show up a couple of times per week and you will get in great shape, as the workout includes strength training and cardio. It's great that you can "reserve" a spot in advance in case you want to be near a friend.

I come once a week or so. The instructors are great - they’re very welcoming to first timers and will walk you through the class. I know I was intimidated the first time since Barry’s has a cult following! Renovations were recently made to the front but the locker rooms still desperately need a touch up. Half the lockers are only on one hinge and 2/4 showers in the women’s locker room aren’t working. And one of them has the worst water pressure that I feel like makes me stay in there longer since I can’t get soap off of me!

I like the workout here, but the music is very boring!! Besides Kelly, no instructors play queer friendly artists' (Lady Gaga, dua lipa, Britney Spears etc) music.

I have been to this studio 3 or 4 times over the last few weeks. I really tried to give Barrys a shot because its so convenient to drop in, plus the scheduling is very easy. I just think Barrys has gone down hill the past few years. 1 instructor for maybe 40 people is wild. The instructors aren't correcting bad form nor did I feel like they care about my personal development. For example they would say grab a heavy weight and a light one. Thats terrible programing! You wouldn't walk into a gym and squat either heavy or light - youd use percentages - like 70% of ORM. Just feel like this place is a waste of money, unless you just care about the vibe of the people. Also i hate the music here.

My experience at this studio was disappointing. I’ve been to Barry’s studios around the world, and this was probably the worst.Starting with the workout… unfortunately, it wasn’t energetic and challenging like I’ve come to expect. The instructor (Greg) didn’t have great flow, the music was so-so, and the studio was way too hot.The locker rooms also felt dated and were missing items I’ve come to expect in Barry’s locker rooms (i.e. blow dryers).I’m a big fan of Barry’s and make an effort to visit new studios when I’m in a new city, but I wouldn’t recommend this studio or instructor to a friend.

Good class. Compared to the UK studios, the changing room facilities were not the best. Limited room to change, lockers not working, 3 shower cubicles, & toilet not clean.

Great class!! They had some great first timer deals (3 classes for $50) so while in Boston my sister came here. I love the location, but I expect it could get tricky finding parking in the area. The music is loud, the instructor is loud and everyone loves to work out (hella fit folks up in here).. which is the vibe I like. However, I know this may not be for everyone. I would also recommend to the business owners to put some visual support on the treadmills like my home gym (i.e. Level One/Recovery = 5-7 mph, Level Two = 6-8mph, Level Three/All Out = 7-10+mph, etc.) because I think this would help the people who are newer figure it out.

Tried a class here via ClassPass. The front desk staff was welcoming and the studio was very clean. The music also was not deafening as mentioned in other reviews. The instructor was very motivating and did a good job demonstrating the stretches. I take away a star since I prefer a place that does corrections as I'm by no means an expert with weights. I appreciated they gave shout-outs at the end of the class for first timers. I left with a nice adrenaline rush and a nice burn in my muscles so it was worth it but not sure I would pay for any time of membership.
