It took a long time to get my rental after uploading documents for an expedited car pickup. I waited in the garage for over an hour for a vehicle to be brought to me to checkout with.

Staff issued a car that had not been cleaned, wreaked of cigarette smoke, without warning us or offering alternatives. Trash in the back, prior renter’s items left behind, drink spills on front passenger seat. Had we more time we would have returned the car. The staff did not say anything and clearly did not care. Upon returning car, the lit agent had to talk with a coworker and asked us to leave keys on the seat. Right below a sign saying we would be charged $250 for lost keys. This is around many other people returning cars who heard the lot attendant tell us to leave the keys on the seat. No time to talk to us!

As an Avis 'preferred' member I was directed from the normal counter (with no line) to the counter in the garage with 3 people in line. Waited at least 25 minutes before they brought up the full-size SUV that was reserved. It had so much damage in the rear I didn't think the tailgate would open! We kept it for a week in Boston and Vermont. Returned the vehicle. Got a letter 3 weeks later saying I was going to be charged $450 for a cleaning fee. Turns out it snows in the Northeast in Winter. I called immediately and was told there would not be a charge. Two weeks later they hit my AMEX for $450. Called and was told that I did not return the vehicle in the same condition. Asked if I was supposed to find a car wash on my way back to the airport in downtown Boston? He said he would credit 1/2. Asked that he do that and forward me to someone with the authority to credit the other 1/2. He said he could do it (after much 'discussion'). I thanked him and acknowledged that he clearly didn't want to credit the account. Still have no record of receiving the credit. You may read this and think we trashed the car but I can assure you there was nothing beyond Winter/snow dirt in the vehicle. A revenue grab. We have nice vehicles and take care of them. Bye Avis.3 weeks later and still no credit or letter as promised. So sad that this location has ruined my experience with Avis.

Effortless, car preference was available, all the tech worked flawlessly. Incredible how much progress has been made in custormer experience in the last 3 years (we rent at BOS, 3-4 times per year).

Worst customer experience w/ Avis manager (Jessie). Rental was somehow double-booked and self-voided on checkout. So my rental didn't come up in their system when calling CS to extend. NO snow scrapper and had winter storms. Apparently bc it was voided in error, I could have left w/o paying on return and none would have been the wiser. It let the check-in return it, but I received a receipt from my last rental at their location in December. Upon return, did due diligence and went to preferred counter to get billing sorted out. My only ask was to have billing split for the extension (2 days). Moral of the story, after an hour of them not knowing what they were doing, they successfully charged one card for the rental but acted like I was trying to commit CC fraud on the split payment. Confirmed with my banks not issue with my cards (tried 2) and that the charges were authorized on their end. One charge was initially blocked bc THEY entered in the wrong expiration date; subsequent authorized. Instead of offering any type of discount, let alone even an apology for all the troubles, I was treated like a criminal trying to commit CC fraud/told they were done helping. No acknowledgement of all the inconveniences, total lack of accountability. Ended with me asking for her manager's contact info/hours. Jessie - "that's above my pay grade". All she would write is "Steven" on a piece of paper. Me "It's above your pay grade to know your boss's hours?" Her "Yes." Horrendous customer service/professionalism. Even if they couldn't assist due to their system, a bare minimum apology would have sufficed for ALL the inconveniences. I did get an apology for the snow scrapper, but even then it was implied it was my fault for driving off the lot without one. Sheesh. I do usually double check, but forgot this time. Thanks for having my back, Avis!UPDATE: Doing as directed below by Avis was a colossal waste of time. After lots of back and forth (no one actually reading my complaint), ultimately told nothing they can do to assist. No solution offered (besides those NOT relating to my actual problem). More importantly, no apology for the lack of professionalism of staff and still total lack of accountability/acknowledgement that this was an gross error on their end.

The worst service ever. The only rental company with a line that does NOT move. And before you jump and say it's because they have more people renting from them. NOT true. They use walkie talkies to communicate - that is CRAZY, and slow. There is NO reason why, when i reserve in advance, on a corporate account, have a CC on file, and my driver's license, I should wait for the person to walkie talkie to someone in the garage to get a car. I'm sorry, the worst customer service EVER.
