Literally as soon as I stepped out of the car the guy said he was going to charge me a $450 cleaning fee because apparently the exterior of the car was too dirty (it was snowing in Montreal where I got it from so the snow left streaks when it melted) unless I took it to a carwash. I was worried that if I took it to the carwash they were going to claim it got scratched and then charge me even more so I brought it to the Avis at Boston Logan instead. When I brought it there I asked if the car was too dirty to return and the guy was surprised I asked and said it was fine, and that it really just mattered that the inside was clean. Glad I avoided them.

THE WORST SERVICE EVER!!The guy at the location is very rude and unprofessional.He isnt fit to be in a customer facing role.

EXTREMELY RUDE guys at the reception. Basically screamed at us and forced us to not make a reservation. Even though there were plenty of cars online and in parking. He continued to be rude so we just left.

Contrary to other experiences below, I have only had speedy and helpful service at this Avis location. Much better than other locations I have rented from in other cities. I have rented a car 4-5 times and am in and out usually. It is also super helpful that there is a gas station directly next to the location.

NEVER AGAIN.I have never had a bad experience renting cars, but there's always a first. Joe was rude, confrontational and incompetent. He told me a rate for the cars way above what I had booked on Priceline, and then when I was chatting with Priceline to clarify what happened, he rudely asked me to focus on the payment and that he would not start the whole process over and essentially not rent me a car. And when he gave me the rates to sign, it was the original rate that I had booked at with Priceline. Had he checked properly the first time around, I wouldn't have had to chat with Priceline and then be able to "focus on the payment".I have never been spoken to in such a manner, and it ruined half my day because I couldn't stop thinking about it.On return of the car, it was another guy, who asked us about the fuel tank (fair), and the mileage (what?). He checked the car for anything left behind, and gave us the all clear when all checked out. And then charged us an extra $20 for no reason. I cleared it with Avis and all is sorted, but I shouldn't have had to in the first place.I have had a lot of great experiences with Avis, so I would rent with the company again. But I'll be sure to check the reviews of the rental location before I do, because after more than a year of bad reviews for this location, it's obvious Avis doesn't care enough to fix it or shut it.

Very bad agency, avoid it. I rented a car, the car had an engine problem. I didn't get a second car because they didn't have one in Boston, so they sent me to Connecticut and gave me a reservation, and to my surprise I didn't get a car there either. Part of the money was returned to me, but I was cheated for $195. After all, they still took money from my account and if the car was no longer with me, I called 30 times to get my money back again. Big circus with the agency! AVOID!!!

Terrible. The guy really wasn't nice, he made us leave with flat tire signal and change engine oil message on the board, didn't listen to us and when we had a problem and called him just hung up on us.We had to change cars 3 times over the trip, Avis is horrible.

The bald man threatened me 3hours before my rental was due. When I arrived he was rude and ignorant. I took a picture of the gas tank and a video of the car in advance he still lied and charged my car 39.00$. I noticed all the contracts have the name Nicole not his. I had to call the police he was so threatening I was scared. This location is DANGEROUS AND THE CUSTOMER SERVICE ATE THIEVES. PLEASE DON'T GO THERE HE IS EVIL. I MADE A COMPLAINT BUDGET HASNT DONE ANYTHING

The agent called Joe is extremely rude and unfriendly. The drop-off experience is unpleasant. I arrived at the parking lot 5 minutes before the opening hour, and was told I couldn't park there because the site is closed. I returned 5 minutes later and entered the room to drop off the key. Joe started yelling at me and told me they are not open now. I was confused, and Joe impatiently told me to look at their clock, which is 5 minutes slow. So I tried to take a seat in the chairs for the customers, but again Joe yelled at me "Go out! Close my door!" I wonder how Avis trained their staff to talk to customers in this way.

I've read the reviews from other people and see that the experience may vary a lot. For myself the rental is super good. The guy gave me a free promotion from a standard SUV to a minivan after knowing I was using this rental for house moving. He also recommend me budget truck, but that was out of my driving ability. The car was clean and powerful without any problem during the drive.The only thing that they can improve was to inform custumers about the "free toll" policy provided by avis that you only need to pay 20~30 dollars per day and you can go whatever express path on the highway. I was later informed from my friend of such thing. Unfortunatly I did not know it at that time and I got heavily tolled :(

I have had the absolute best experiences here. Sorry to hear some people don’t, maybe I just connect well with others and that’s valuable to me. Very personable and extremely professional. Gave me advice on cleaning a part of my car so I didn’t get charged cleanup fee.

Stay away from this location, and Avis in general if they allow this. I wish we read the reviews before renting here. The staff are extremely hostile and unprofessional. During the drop off we were told to go vacuum the car from tiny amount of sand from the shoes, threatened by $450 cleaning fee. Arriving there 10 minutes later right on closing time we were rudely told that they will not accept the car now. There was another car that went through the exact same thing, so this is clearly a pattern (supported by other reviews too).

Fraudulent location. Same as many of the previous reviews. The car was clean and he claimed it wasn't and said he would have to charge me $450 for the cleaning fee or I could go and get it cleaned myself. I knew this was fraud immediately and refused to do so since there was no guaranty that we wouldn't try the same con again. He then locked the car and prevented me from filming the inside.Avis headquarters is aware of this location and if you call them they will remove the fraudulent cleaning fee.

We had the worst rental experience ever at this location. We were scolded off the premise when we pulled into the parking lot to pick up our reserved car, then were told to wait outside for a few minutes outside because we showed up a couple of minutes early even though the door was already clearly open. At the time of pickup, the rental agent didn't walk us around to confirm any existing damages (we assumed this was due to him having to serve other customers inside) but we noticed a large scratch mark immediately when we pulled into our driveway to load the car and pick up rest of the family members. We then drove back to the rental car shop and reported this to the rental agent who then falsely accused us of creating a 'new' damage. After a few very unpleasant exchanges with him, we decided to talk to the customer service at Avis directly and left the rental place so that we could go on our trip as planned. At the time of return, the same rental agent exhibited the same unprofessional and combative behavior, and forced us to fill out an incident report which we couldn't complete our return without this paperwork. This was absolutely false and fraudulent as we know with 1000% certainty that the scratch mark was already on the car when we picked up our rental car. Would never ever use Avis again, especially this location.

Dropping off our rental car at the Allston, MA Avis was really strange. The car was clean, gas full, and we were on time, but the guy who checked the car in was rude to the point of almost feeling confrontational and I’m not sure why. I appreciate people who’s work helps me and don’t take it for granted. I try to be respectful and courteous. I get that we all have bad days, and try to overlook a lot, but this was beyond that and it didn’t feel okay.
