I recently visited my local Ace Hardware store for a couple of hardware-related issues, and I can't express how grateful I am for their unparalleled service, problem-solving, and customer care. It's rare these days to find a business that genuinely values its customers and puts them first, and Ace Hardware truly excels in this regard, making it a standout option for meeting all your hardware needs.One of the tasks I needed help with was getting a key copied. The staff at Ace Hardware made the entire process smooth and hassle-free, ensuring that the key was accurately and efficiently duplicated. Not only that, but the team was also able to assist me in locating a matching screw I needed, demonstrating their knowledge about their products and their attention to detail.What really impressed me, however, was their willingness to go the extra mile. After finding the correct screws, one of the employees kindly offered to help me install the three missing screws onto the device I needed them for. You don't often come across businesses where employees willingly invest extra time and effort in helping customers, and it truly sets Ace Hardware apart from other hardware stores.My experience at Ace Hardware was nothing short of exceptional. The staff were knowledgeable, courteous, and went above and beyond to assist me with my needs. If you're in need of hardware supplies, services or assistance, I wholeheartedly recommend Ace Hardware - you won't be disappointed!

I literally couldn’t walk 2 feet in before I was kicked out for being under 18, I was trying to buy cheese cloth. Apparently it’s their policy which literally makes no sense.

A simple request: two copies of two keys. I'm just making two spare sets. Seems like it would be a common request. Instead I get four copies of one key and zero copies of the other. I find out when I get home. I'm a Townie - right down the street. Loyal customer for years.I come back in to get it fixed. Older woman, seems maybe manager, is very skeptical despite the fact that I had evidence. I'm just asking to get fixed. I'm polite, even though this is their error and cost me an extra trip in Boston Friday rush hour traffic. The other cashier tells me I shouldn't have to pay anything because it was Ace's mistake. She charges me full price and gives me attitude.

Had a great experience at Charlestown Ace yesterday. Tyler helped me with everything I needed and made a stressful move in day much easier. He was knowledgeable, helpful, efficient and quick, and a pleasure to work with. Highly recommend going to this store for solutions to your home/hardware needs!

Always helpful, kind and attentive. Very hard to run a mom and pop shop. Certainly they more than meet all my standards. Sorry the previous person's teenager was not treated better. I know there are teens who go in as a group and take/mess up items on displays. Guess they visited the store on an off day. I've been going here since they opened almost 20 years ago and have had nothing but great service. Thank goodness I don't have to get lost in Home Depot to just pick up a few items. And have always bought their Benjamin Moore paints- the best!

I have gone out of my way to channel personal buying to local stores for years. Grills, Paint, Random supplies...every time I can buy from Ace in 02129 I do. We send our kids solo to local stores with a budget regularly for errands, Mother's Day, Father's Day, holidays etc to teach them June Bug- awesomePlace & Gather- awesomeEvery restaurant- awesome* we allow him to go to 99 for dinner with friends as we've taught manners and tippingWhole Foods- with a smileSo I never thought twice of sending my 14 yr old son down to buy 2 bags of Mulch after I had him plant/transplant a few items from our patio bed (while his mother sat in car on a work call). He was literally stopped at the door as he isn't 18? Not that they won't sell spray paint etc (which I get)...they stopped a teenager from buying mulch?To add salt they wouldn't help her with the bags when she tried to buy after they turned him away. The lesson for our son "never buy where you aren't treated well or respected"Lesson for me.....Home Depot/Amazon for supplies (begrudgingly) and Ricky's in Somerville for plants, rest of local businesses keep up the community vibe

Not a friendly place. I went in to drop off a ups package (as they are a UPS access point) and then I was planning to look at paint colors. When dropping off my UPS package, I was shocked to find they would not allow me to use their tape. I had to purchase my own packaging tape from their store to secure my small UPS envelope. Talk about a racket. Then I was told to step away from the counter and to go tape my package in the front corner of the store. The whole experience was strange and the woman running the show doesn't seem very nice. Needless to say, I did not look at paint and will take my business elsewhere.

Incompetent!! We place an online order and shortly after realizing it wasn't going to work I called to cancel. The charge was still pending on my card, so this should have been a simple thing. The guy I spoke to said the item was actually out of stock so the order would automatically cancel . He added that he could order it to be shipped to the store. I said no I actually don't want it, so I repeated back to him, do the order is cancelled, he said yes. Later that day I noticed the charge was still pending. I called the store and the person I spoke to said she didn't even see the order, and assured me that the charge should fall off. I happened to check this morning and the charge posted. I called again thinking it would be a simple thing. I spoke to the manager who told me the order was put through as ship to the store. He told me he had no way to cancel it I ended up going on line and cancelled it myself, so if I could do that I'm pretty sure he could have done the same on his end I called the 800 number and verified the order was cancelled. I know have to wait 7-10 business days for my money back. This is ridiculous!!! The first person should have cancelled it and the charge never would have fully posted it's not a ton of money, but still frustrating

The people are nice, and competent. So the in-store part is fine. But I don’t do any online shopping there, because their web presence, as other reviewers have pointed out, is deceiving. They'll show an item as being in stock and available, so you order it for pickup, then it's cancelled 20 minutes later, no explanation. And when I've gone into the store in the past to check, I’ve found they actually do have it -- but at a higher price than was shown online. So in person, this place is OK; but my impression is that whoever controls the online part of their business is being pretty dishonest with their customers. Thus, when I want to shop online for in-store or curbside pickup I shop at Home Depot instead. Whatever other problems Home Depot has, they treat their online customers better than these guys.

Web site and store inventory do not match. Drove to the store because a product was in stock, find out this was untrue when I arrived.

I went to return something and their system was down. They couldn’t process an online return. Courtney helped me and was very nice, despite my attitude. She took the item and I left. She called later on; let me know the return was processed and I was all set. I really appreciate the customer service. All the employees are always friendly & helpful here too.
