I had the absolute worst experience at the Belchertown Vet today with Dr. Greenberger (older woman w/brown hair). My mom recommended them because she had taken her cat there. What a horrible mistake I made! What happened to me today, I wouldn’t wish on my worst enemy.I took my senior cat in to get blood work and some other things done. Keep in mind that my cat has a lot of ailments, so I knew it was close to the end for him. The doctor came back and told me that he wasn’t doing well and that they needed to give him medication and put him on oxygen. Make a long story short, I had to make the hard decision to euthanize him, but that’s not the worst of it. When the receptionist brought the bill to me it was over $1000. I was shocked at the price, plus I had just found out that I wasn’t going home with my cat (I was going to have him put down). I said to the tech, “what was done to make the bill so high?” As a consumer, I have every right to ask that question. She said, “sure, I’ll bring the invoice to you so that you can see.” Next thing I know, the doctor comes into the room and stands over me and saying, “ what do you mean what did we do!” She said it in such a harsh tone, I was shocked. I said , what? I didn’t mean that you didn’t do anything.. I just want to see what you did. She proceeded to say. I’ve been working on your cat this whole time and I told you what was being done. I was like, wait a minute.. how dare you speak to me that way! I’m sitting here alone, sad, grieving the soon to be death of my cat that I’ve had for 18 years and this is how I’m being treated. I told her that I didn’t care about the money. Two years ago, I paid 8k for my other cat at VESH to be treated in Deerfield because he had kidney disease, etc.. Maybe the doctor thought because I was a Black woman, I didn’t have the money to pay for it (so hurtful).Belchertown vet had emailed me an approximate cost a couple of days ago, which was far less $$$, but I understood different things took place today. It was still within my right to want to see the breakdown of the bill. The doctor carried on and finally walked away. I had enough and just wanted to leave with my cat. I called my mom crying and I was shaking. I couldn’t believe that I was being treated like this because I asked to see the invoice. When I said that I didn’t expect the price to be so much, the doctor actually said, “well, we didn’t expect him to die on our doorsteps.” I was floored! What a cold-hearted, unprofessional b#tch!! It actually felt abusive to a degree. What a mean doctor. After that comment, I didn’t even feel comfortable having my cat take his last breaths in that place, but he was too weak to leave, so I did what was best for him.The only one who tried to make me feel okay was the vet nurse (red hair). She was the only one who showed me compassion in my time of grief and sadness. The doctor tried to apologize by saying she was wrong in how she acted and that she shouldn’t have come in so “hot.” She also had the nerve to say that she was overworked… CAN you believe that? There is no excuse. She should know how to effectively communicate with grieving families and if not do a different job. Her apology was too late. The damage was done. Her behavior was unacceptable as a human being and a medical professional.Im so upset and heartbroken that my last moments with my cat, Bailey was with a non compassionate, inconsiderate, awful doctor. I have had several pets throughout my life and have had to put them down. This is the first time that I have ever been treated so disrespectfully during a stressful and grieving moment in my life. It was mean and heartless. As a seasoned medical professional, as this doctor claims to be, she should be better and should have done better. I WILL NEVER STEP FOOT IN THAT VET HOSPITAL AGAIN. I will also tell others never to go there. There are several negative reviews of this place. Listen to them and take heed to what people are saying! We can’t all be wrong in our experiences with this unprofessional, rude doctor.

Owner was very rude and knows exactly what you should get, even if you don’t want it. If you want to get pushed into doing things to your dog that you don’t want done then this is the place to go. If I could give a one star rating I would. Don’t forget their $40 hidden fee for their for their “check up” to make sure they can administer their shots which by the way was literally a 30 second scan of the dog. I’m sure they will have something to say about that too. No thanks I’ll be sure to go elsewhere for myself and everyone that I know.

I really like the nurses at this hospital. They are super nice and take really good care of your pets. The doctor I had was good with my dog too. However she is not so good with people. She was very rude to me ever after a made a bad joke because I didn't want to get my dogs bloodwork done. The minute she came in the room she attacked me about giving my dog too much prozac when she mistakenly did the math wrong which she told me is "only suppose to be .5 to 1 mg per pound." I have a 45 pound beagle foxhound mix and another doctor there told me it was ok to give him 40mg a day. But we all know doctors can be quite rude . . .

I would not recommend bringing your pets here. I was waiting for my pets prescriptions and there was a dog in the room behind the desk, not barking, just whining because they were alone and scared. Dr. G takes them out of the room and I said oh what sweet puppy. She's like they're bad dogs.....like what kind of vet outwardly dislikes animals? All dogs are good dogs. We've also been told things by Dr G about how good or bad our dog behaved then her staff and other people have told us the complete opposite. I don't appreciate two faced people. They schedule surgeries then never take your pet in that day but still sedated them and then doesn't even look to see if they need the surgery. Like completely willing to put a pet through an unnecessary surgery which is horrible to do to an animal. And confirmed by another vet that surgery was and is absolutely NOT necessary. And as I see on these reviews and as Ive experienced this review and any questions you pose this facility will respond with a child like tantrum of how dare you question me I'm not going to work with you anymore which is clearly what myself and other owners have already decided is that We want. We don't want to allow you to be anywhere near our pets. This is in response to theirs. Not comforting that she calls her own dogs bad dogs, again no bad dogs just bad owners. Also, surgery completely unnecessary so also a lie. Lastly, Belchertown Vet price gouges like crazy. At another vet, I got a full exam, fecal exam, and 5, two month prescriptions for what Belchertown Vet charges for 1 prescription. A complete waste of time and money and the vet and office manager are sadly just alike. No people skills and like to trash talk your dogs to other people. They are completely unwilling to listen to your concerns and try to blame their mistakes and lack of empathy on you. Go elsewhere you, your pet, and your wallet will be very greatful.

Absolutely disgusted with Jennifer (the new manager) my poor father is physically disabled and on a low income. He has brought his dog to Belchertown Veterinary Hospital for 2 years now and absolutely loved them. He gets his dog his meds online because it’s not only physically hard for him to travel to Belchertown but it’s also cheaper to order through Chewy and Petmeds. His drive is 30 minutes away and he’s only stayed with them because of how wonderful they have been up until now. Jennifer refused to fill the heart worm prescription claiming that these sites sell fake prescriptions. When my father questioned her and tried to explain why he cannot afford to buy flea and tick and heart worm meds through her because of his condition, she hung up on him. Then my father called back and said he wants his file so he can go to a new vet that will accommodate him and understand and her response was “you’re not allowed here anymore”he then had no other choice but to drive there to pickup his files since she wasn’t co-operating what so ever and once we got the files, we then discovered that Jennifer put false information of phone conversations in the file that never happened. She also put in the file that my father is retired and because of that he didn’t want to drive to them. There is a HUGE difference here. This place needs to be shut down or get a new manager with how awful she treats people and how little she actually cares about animals. From the look of the other reviews recently it looks like this places customer service is really going downhill.

I go here for my exotic pets (6 bearded dragons) and they are always very caring and careful with them. I am so thankful for the exotic vet, Dr. Greenberger. She has saved alot of my reptiles lives countless times or helped me with my concerns. It's very obvious she cares extremely deeply for the animals she works with and cares for. If I could do 10 stars I would.

We do the vaccinations at Petco and we provided to his vet the records; they ignored his vacs and did it again; telling us it was incomplete. Few months later we went to petco for his update. The Belchertown hospital call us to schedule vacs that was expired and they scheduled the dog for vacs. I called them and asked why they didn’t update his records with the documents we brought from Petco; they said they never received it. When I checked his documents they duplicated his vaccinations without our authorization. I was noticing something was wrong since he was continuously having ear infections. A lot of money spent only because they refused to accept our records from Vetco. We also buy his medication online and they refused to authorize the prescription. I think they are very knowledgeable, however at the end is all about money.
