My 79-year-old mom was discharged from Lasell House today, after one moth of exemplary care following a fall which led to a fractured pelvis.Andrea, head of nursing, was so intuitive when it came to my mom's care. She was warm and accessible, and always made me feel she had time for us.Heather, the social worker, was so kind and collaborative. My mother has mental health challenges which were triggered by the fall. Heather worked with me at every step of the way, strategizing and helping me plan for my mother's move to an assisted living with a mental heath care program.Kai, who manages activities, was amazing. She took the time to give my mom a manicure, and the photo I received of mom's pretty hands made my day. Kai is just a ray of sunshine, someone who clearly puts her all into her job, and comes to it with passion and kindness. I know she will go far within this organization. Also, Scott, a NP. This man has the patience of a saint. My mom had a big emotional breakthrough with Scott, which I witnessed. This wouldn't have happened if Scott hadn't taken the time to sit with my mom in a completely calm and unhurried way.Tammie was my mom's first nurse when she came into Lasell and last nurse when she left. Tammie was excellent all the way through, but especially fantastic this past weekend, when my mom was really struggling emotionally. She's a gem.Special words of praise, too, for Elizabeth, a nurse on the floor, and an aide named Marie. Marie was so bright and cheerful, so calm and kind--just the right vibe for my mom. She brightened the room every time she walked into it. Elizabeth was also excellent and was especially comforting this past weekend.Lastly, Ryan, the PT. What a wonderful human. He got my mom up and walking with such kindness and care. I owe him a huge debt of gratitude for being so patient and encouraging, and for making a big impact on my mom's physical recovery. One of my mom's favorite quotes is this:“At the end of the day people won't remember what you said or did, they will remember how you made them feel.”― Maya AngelouThe Lasell team made me feel that my mom was in the very best hands this past month. I'm ever grateful.

My mother, was a Resident at Lasell House for the past two years, and I wanted to take a moment to reflect on the time she spent there, the services and care she received and, most importantly the love, hope, and passion that came her way during her stay.First, I would like to introduce myself and give some understanding of my background. I am a real estate developer and have developed and/or built several senior living communities, Assisted Living Residences, and residential rehabilitation programs. Along the way, I was asked to join the Board of Directors of Learning Services, a company that provides post-acute residential rehabilitation for adults with Acquired Brain Injuries on a national scale. Four years after joining the Board, I was asked to serve as the President and CEO of Learning Services, a position I held for eight years. That said, things do look different when you see them through the eyes of a family member as opposed to looking at them as a member of the management team. Bottom line, I believe that I am uniquely positioned to evaluate and juxtapose the care and services that were provided to my mother during the two years she lived at Lasell House.Without further adieu, let’s get on with the purpose of this letter. Put simply, we (the Carter Family) could not be happier with the care and services that were provided both to my mom and to us as a family over the past two years at Lasell House. My mom was at Lasell during the height of COVID, with national unemployment rates in the negative numbers and employers in fierce competition for employees of any kind. Not to mention that jobs at Lasell are centered around personal care and employees could not telecommute. Like any organization that offers personal care services, Lasell is only as good as its employees and that’s exactly where Lasell shines. We did not run into a single employee at Lasell House that wasn’t:• Exemplary at what they do• Actively engaged in challenging Residents to set and achieve challenging rehabilitation goals• Properly trained in the skills necessary to do their job with confidence• Happy to be part of the Lasell Team• Caring, loving, and upbeatCongratulations Lasell House, you get an A+. Of course, any organization can get lucky and hire a few good employees, but it’s rare to find organizations that have a stable full of great employees. Obviously, this kind of organization starts at the top. The Director of Nursing, Andrea Rando Blaha, is the person that sets the example for everyone working at Lasell House. Suffice it to say that Andrea is the one sprinkling the magic when it comes to employee’s tenure, motivation, and skill sets. She is clearly a very talented manager. Obviously, those managers upstream from Andrea are enabling, supporting, and encouraging her success. I would be remiss if I didn’t mention how outstanding all of the aides, nurses and support staff are too. Every single person we had the pleasure to interact with went above and beyond any expectation we may have had.A big THANK YOU to each and every staff member at Lasell House from the Carter Family. As each of you know, we love, admire, and respect each and every one of you; you will all be a part of our Family forever.David Carter

Lasell House rehab is fabulous. Everyone was so helpful and on top of everything. Food was great, and support was a moment away. I can't imagine that any rehab could be better. Everyone we interacted with was wonderful - Marrissa, Ed, Tim, Heather, Jola and all support staff were the best. I omitted many people who were all outstanding. Susan and Steve Rosenzweig

My recent experience was with caring and kind , competent staff; Therapy departments were great; Nursing staff is excellent; special graditude to April, Moses, Tim, Donna and all whose names I’ve not recorded! The Aides are caring and kind; and dear Romeo of the janitorial staff was delightful to sing in the hallways as he worked..the rooms are kept clean and comfy, and the tv room has snacks and drinks available , and a nice patio to go out onto with a lovely view of the pond and ducks below. The kitchen staff does an excellent job with great menu choices and tasty meals. I highly recommend the surgical rehab center for anyone needing kind caring and safe surroundings!!

My 90 year old mother recently spent about a month at Lasell House, and we were all very pleased. In addition to the surroundings being pleasant and immaculate, the staff is strong and competent in all areas of care (nursing, physical therapy, recreation, etc.). We were particularly impresses with Heather Bushmich and the staff of social workers that made my mother's transition back to her home so seamless. In a time when your loved one is vulnerable and in need of help, it is heartening to know there are still places like Lasell House that care about what they do and the people in their charge. Many thanks to them!

After I tore a miniscus and my arthritic knee caused me to have difficulty standing and walking I chose Lasell to rehabilitate. The physical and occupation therapy was excellent and in a short time I am ready to go home. The food was good and the staff friendly and attentive. There were recreational activities available and they were fine with my working virtually part time.

I was not enthusiastic about rehab, Had I known how wonderful Lasell House was I would have gone sooner. The staff is amazing-I have nothing but compliments for all of them -ALL OF THEM! The food was restaurant quality! The care was compassionate and gentle---even PT! I am home and happy to be independent--and I think my stay at Laser House made this possible. Thank you all so much!! My cats missed me and are cuddling right now. THANK YOU AGAIN! BARBARA SILETSKY

I was a former Staff Nurse at Lasell House I have both very good memories so as trauma tic experiences during my 10 year tour of duty. One of the most beautifulest nursing and rehabilitation facilities in Massachusetts. They do serve very good food. I would like to acknowledge the leadership of Senior Staff Members for helping me out during the most depressing pandemic months. Thank you for your support.

My mom was at Lasell for 2 weeks following a lengthy hospital stay. Lasell got her walking again so she could return home. The place was nice, clean and the staff attentive. Andrea Rando-Blaha, nursing director, was great in pulling a discharge meeting together and educating my mom RE: her health care needs. My mom also said the food was delicious!

I spent a week in rehab after emergency hip replacement surgery at Lasell House. Three marvelous members of the administration greeted and checked in on me several times during my stay: the director of Lasell House, the director of nursing and the director of admissions. They were wonderful in making me feel welcome. The nursing staff, especially the day shift, is truly outstanding and I need to mention the hard-working RNs: Martin, Ed, Moses and Elizabeth – they were amazing and such lovely people. Two of the CNAs were also outstanding: Mark and Jessica – they were so kind and helpful. I also noticed the great care and attention the two of them gave to the other patients. The PT and OT departments are wonderful and live up to their already stellar reputation. I am so thankful to each one of them for the time and caring work they did with me. I made very quick progress because of them and was able to return to my home a week earlier than planned. I would also like to mention the superb food service. Lasell is a place where no one can complain about the quality or the preparation of the food – the food is served at an excellent temperature and the quality of the products, and the care given to the preparation of meals are outstanding. The chef’s entrée of grilled shrimp on a bed of wilted spinach rivals that of any of Boston’s finest restaurants! My room was lovely, and the housekeeping staff does an excellent job keeping the entire place immaculate. I feel incredibly grateful that I was able to have my rehab at Lasell House - I am only sorry there is no way to give them a 10-star rating, which they truly deserve!

I was at Lasell house for two weeks after Thanksgiving for a knee replacement rehabilitation. All I can tell you that the entire staff was Top Notch and very Caring. They would laugh with you and understand Totally your pain issues a would not force you at all past your tolerance of pain. The Nurses were unbelievable kind as were all of the aides. The higher management was super helpful too. I have been home for two weeks now and have already been discharged from home PT & OT. Will be starting outside PT the first of January. That says so much about the PT and OT personnel they have on staff. I will possibly having my other knee replaced in February and I will go no where else for rehabilitation. The cleaning staff was very respectful of your area as they cleaned your room every day.

I was at Lasell for slightly more than 2 weeks of rehab after being released from the hospital. The quality of care, compassion, and therapy (both physical and occupational) was outstanding. The rooms and common areas were cleaned daily. Safety/COVID protocols were adhered to (i.e. masks in common area, food was sealed, etc.) Did I mention that the food was very good? Plus the chef made very tasty dishes w/out salt. And they let my "support cat" visit me. I appreciated the staff's flexibility.
