No matter what their TV ad says, I should have done my research, and for that mistake I paid the price! To make a long story short I felt after the service call I felt used, abused, confused and $500 in the hole with not a penny of the money spent towards getting me to the cool zone on a hot summer day. Instead the HVAC technician performed some kind of check and charged me just under $500 to tell me something I already knew before they even started that my system had a leak. I informed a representative in the service call that my HVAC system was cooling but not to the set temperature and that it needed to be recharged and I had it recharged previously (approximately 5 years ago). The slow leak in my HVAC system could have been something as simple as a loose coupling or fitting but the technician focused on my old out dated HVAC system that was better off being replaced due to it was old and the high cost of repairs and or refrigeration recharge that would cost me thousands of dollars. I know things would be just fine with a refrigeration recharge but they left me feeling I had no other choice but to purchase a new HVAC system so they can fill their own pockets. They gave me a quote but no receipt for services performed and no hard copy or email estimate for a new system install in over a week since they departed. Poor customer service I wouldn't recommend!

Worst ever! Left me with a heating system the tech himself called "unsafe". Afraid to turn it on even though temps were below 40 degrees. Tells me it's unsafe, but then offers a new system for only $12-13,000 dollars! Told him I could not commit to that so he said he would order parts and be back in 3-4 days. Never heard from them again. Called, emailed, - nothing! I will be installing a whole new system - but will not be with them!

Clogged toilet took them 12 mins to repair. $448 was the bill. 12 frigin mins? Im a senior citizen. I was told the owner may give me a $100 refund but still waiting for his call.

Awesome company! I just had mini-splits installed in my home, everything went great! The communication was excellent throughout the process and the install crew was top notch making sure I knew how to use the system before they left. I would highly recommend Gervais!

I had an electric hot water heater abruptly let go. A quick search of local companies yielded Gervais Mechanical out of Auburn. They were very quick to respond back understanding it was an emergency. They immediately provided options via email. The rest of the process from selecting the new heater, schedule of install, deposit, and paying in full was all performed online. It was a Wednesday afternoon, and they were at my place 8am Friday to install. The installer was extremely professional, kind, and knowledgeable. The entire process from start to finish was perfect. I would highly recommend Gervais!

In August of 2023, I had baseboard elements and the piping from the boiler installed in my house by Gervais Mechanical. The quote was to use the existing boiler and zone circulator pumps that existed. I was told that the system would be rebuilt from the circulators to the completion of the loops. I was told that I would receive another visit from a team member to make a stock list. This never happened. There installers showed up on a Monday for a three day job totally unprepared. The job took five days to complete. During these five days I had to watch as their workers were left to do the job with very little support. I had to argue about the scope of the work with management. They wanted to reuse the twenty year old shut off and drain valves that were located after the circulator pumps. That's $40 in materials. They refused to budge. At that point I decided to have the circulators replaced as well to insure the integrity of the system which would also include the valves in question. In short, I compromised. I just wanted the job done. I took off three days of work to be there and at that point we were into the fourth day. I also had the supply the solder for this extra work as the installers were no properly supplied. When the system was started up it had to be shut down, drained and the three leaks repaired. There were also issues with clean up and waste disposal. Presently, the covers are falling off of most of the baseboards because they are separating from the wall. The screws were put into the drywall in most locations and not studs. There were no permits obtained and no final in-house inspection that I was promised. I ran my own business in the home construction field for over twenty years and wanted to give them the benefit of the doubt as I know things don't always go as planned and surprises exist. This is far beyond that. I went with this company because they offered financing. What a mistake! As a business, my complete work load was from customer referral. I urge people needing work on there house to go with a referral. I think a person should ask themselves why a company would need to advertise. Quality work does not have to advertise. I wish this could be posted with less than a one star rating.

I hired Gervais to move a pipe for steam heat that ran up to my daughters room and it was in the way when I had a picture window installed in my living room. $1500 later nothing but issues. The next day after it was moved I had a pool of water underneath my new window. They came out the next day and said there was a leak and the issue was fixed. That night when we turned the heat on steam engulfed my daughters room where the pipe they moved was located in. They came out a couple days later and said there was a pin hole in the radiator. It was obviously damaged during the installation, never had issues in the 7 years we lived there. The technician told me he would speak to the office. Two days later we get a quote for $1100 to have it fixed. For two weeks I would call and was told someone would call me back. No call. Called and finally asked to speak with a manager. The manager told me they were not responsible since my pipes had rust and could damage other parts during the installation. The part has light rust if that, Told him it was unacceptable, and he said he would talk to his technician and get back to me the next morning. It is now 4 days later never received a call. Court is the next option at this point. I would strongly advise not to use this company. It seems to me their common practice is to damage parts and then blame the issue on "rust" and then charge a ridiculous amount of money to fix the problem they caused. If you have issues good luck with trying to speak with someone who can help.

Outstanding service. I spoke with Tim Scarfe to replace my failed furnace and within 24 hours it was installed! Great price and technicians Jacob and Sam were super! My gratitude to Gervais Plumbing for heat this cold February night!

This business is in the business of selling/repairing/servicing the latest and greatest HVAC systems. Not, the older ones. Their fees are high to come onsite and see, but the feel is you should go new. I will not use them again and will be looking for a company who wants to fix and not to up-sell. The only positive/great service from my experience are the ones who answer the phones.

I needed a plumber to look at several tankless water heaters that were not producing hot water. We agreed that they would come on 1-5-22 I think. The morning of that same day they called to reschedule for 1-11-22 for 9am. The morning of 1-11-22 they called again to tell me it’s going to be 12noon. OK. I waited for 2 hours from 12 to about 2pm and no one showed up. I left them 2 messages during that time thru an answering service but they were at lunch. Finally I spoke to Marci from their office about all these cancellations and them being so late and not answering. Also I had tried to get them to tell me how much they charge before 1-5-22 and again before 1-11-22. They refused to say. Apparently they wait until they are already inside your house to slap you with their price when you have already waited and waited and they got you by the you know what and you are much more likely to agree to pay. I pushed Marci to do the right thing and tell me how much their hourly rate is for labor before they come and she said that they don’t charge by the hour, it all depends what materials you need for the job. I asked how much assuming I don’t need any materials and she said it’s about $325 for the first hour !!!!!!! and then if another hour the price will be about $500 !!!!!!! Wow. I feel their system is intentionally confusing. Because I was rescheduled twice and waited for more than 2 hours on 1-11-22 I asked that they fix this hot water situation for “only” $250. Marcy agreed and told me she would call me in “5 mins”. The 5 mins turned into about 30 and then she called me to tell me that maybe someone will come at around 4:30pm. I said no because I had other scheduled things already for 4:30pm. My whole day was ruined in waiting. What a disappointing company and what a dishonorable business model.

VERY expensive! Basically had my dryer vent cleaned from the dryer up thru the attic and outside and vent pipes re taped. No other parts. Took a couple of hours. $750…wow. Service tech was awesome.

I hired Gervais to do a 4 head/2 condenser mini split install about a couple years ago. While there were a few bumps in the road with the initial install (not super uncommon for larger jobs), the owner did the right thing each time. Most recently I had issues where some of the units stopped working (nearly a year after the 1 year warranty expired), he reached out quickly and someone came out near immediately and rectified the situation.Though unfortunately after contributing to see and understand more defects I'm finding with the install I cannot rightfully recommend this company to anyone.

I called this company to send a technician out so I could get a general assessment on my combi boiler. We just moved into our house this year so I wanted a professional opinion on what our boiler needed for annual maintenance and when we should think about replacing it. Gervais booked me quickly and conveniently and technician was out lickety-split, which I was very pleased with. However, when he arrived he said he wasn't properly set up to provide me pricing for a cleaning or any maintenance, and he didn't have any tools to do any sort of work during that appointment so I would have to call the office back to get an actual cleaning scheduled. I was charged $268 in total for this consultation with no work performed, which I was not informed I would be charge when booking the appointment. I appreciate the expertise and the knowledge the technician provided during the appointment about when I should think about replacing my system and different ways to do it - so I definitely found some value in this appointment - but $250+ for no work performed and he didn't even leave me with any options or pricing for maintenance seems a bit steep. I wish Gervais would better prepare their technicians for assisting their customers in the field before they send them out. I would've happily bought a cleaning that day if he was prepared to do it and for the price of the consultation I should think they would at least be willing to call *me* to get the cleaning service I want scheduled. Technician was great, just not set up for success. Hopefully this is not the typical experience. I'd be willing to give them another shot, but I know to ask about price for dispatch and whether or not a technician will be prepared to provide options or do work same day.Service: HVAC system maintenance
