This week, I needed to pick up some cedar boards for the house. I can’t even describe how helpful, patient, and just all-around welcoming everyone at this organization was to a guy who clearly did not know what he was doing. Most especially helpful: Scott in the lumberyard. He was a really terrific guy who went the extra mile with a smile. I’d give more stars if they were available. Thank you so much.

Called on July 3rd morning asking if they are open, they said they do. So rented a truck to return the stuff. Showed up at 10:30, no one is there, called again, no one answered. Wasted the rental

If you are a homeowner or DIY'er just stay far away from this place as possible. They only want to serve commercial customers and could give a rats you-know-what about walk-ins. There are two Shattuck locations in Arlington, Hillside in Belmont, and Ideal Tru-Value in Waltham for Paint, finishes, and Hardware. Starrett Lumber in Watertown, and Boulter Plywood (they have more than just plywood) in Medford.

Very friendly neighborhood hardware store. They won't have anything big like appliances and lumber for the most part but they will have everything else you need to take on a project.

My first time visiting this store and I will definitely come back many more times, I really don't do many reviews but when I get great service anywhere I can't help but express it. I was very well taken care of by Scott, he helped me with everything I needed, usually people are not so patient but Scott has a great disposition and is always willing to help.

No interest in dealing with DIYers. I wouldn't be surprised if the the kid working the register was the owner's son on punishment duty. It's too bad because they have a great location, good supplies and an eager community surrounding them.

Called this place an order for tow 12x30 LVLs. After spending about 20 mins on the phone, I was told they would not deliver just the 2 LVLs to Somerville. Person on the phone said "We would loose money selling and delivering this to you" What kind of business tells it's customers that they are a waste of money?

My wife and I recently went here to get some pricing for cedar and pressure treated wood for a fence we were building. We were hoping to support a local, family-owned business, but our experience very quickly changed our mind. The gentleman at the desk was both demeaning and disrespectful. We explained exactly what we were looking for and he brushed us off, as if we couldn't possibly know what type and size lumber we needed. Once he realized we knew what we were talking about, he provided quotes. It took 10-min of convincing him. Our experience here was disappointing. Hopefully future women who walk into this store will get more respectful service. We will not go there again.
