“Craig Cox and his staff are beyond awesome! Watching him do an exam on your dog is so reassuring! He feels every inch for lumps bumps etc. He rotates their legs paws etc checking for limitation or pain. Orders age appropriate labs and is not an alarmist but discusses approaches with you. When it was time for us to say goodbye to our 4 th fur baby he was very supportive, accommodating and kind. I love that my dogs always saw the same vet who knew them well.we will Always be grateful to him and the BEST vet assistant ever Maria”

“We needed a place to have our guniea pigs nails clipped and found that most places do not see these animals but Shawsheen was able help. They got us in as quickly as possible. When we arrived for our appointment, reception got us in right away. They showed us how to clip the nails. All of the staff was great and there is plenty of parking. “I don't even know where to begin ... Dr. Martha Lindsay is kind, compassionate and I can't thank her and her staff enough for all they did for my dog, Kota. We started seeing Dr. Lindsay a few years back when we struggled with Kota's liver values. Kota was a dog who didn't medicated easily, and surgery was not something we wanted to put her through. She bounced back through nutritional response (changing her eating and cooking for her made a huge difference!) and then homeopathy over the past few years. I do believe we got an extra few amazing years with Kota thanks to Dr Lindsay. We recently had to say goodbye to Kota - the hardest decision a pet parent ever has to make. But I know we did our best! I highly recommend Alternative Vet Services for your pets. They truly care.”

“Very nice caring people work here , prices seem very high we only have hope that they know what they are doing. Two years ago after a number of tests we were convinced to have done our cat was diagnosed with terminal cancer, thankfully we didn't put her down as she's still a playful and somewhat angry cat. We have never had issues other than that one time as we're a little concerned that every time we bring a pet there they up sale services and tests and sometimes we hesitate going when our pets are having issues because of this, but unfortunately thats the way it goes.”

“We had a wonderful experience at Bulger today with Dr. Canes in the ER. She was warm, kind, and compassionate and really took the time to make sure my dog was ok.

We also see Dr. Prahl who provides excellent internal medicine care. I appreciate that she coordinates care with our regular vet. I feel like we have the greatest veterinary team. Several years I was so impressed with how her team went out of their way to coordinate an endoscopy with a dental (general medicine) to keep my dog from needing anesthesia during multiple visits.

We also had a great experience with Dr. Casiotis in ophthalmology.

Each veterinarian at this practice is highly qualified and treats pets with the utmost care.”

After reading some of the reviews I can see that some of the cons are unfair because in any practice of medicine there are protocols and to make a diagnosis you do need to perform test to rule out other probable causes and many people do not understand that. I brought my dog to the clinic and was satisfied with the care. I came only because it wasn't corporate, and the Middlesex Animal Hospital closed, and its great DMV referred me. I do believe the care is superior to corporate care BUT the costs are extremely high, but I guess if you want high end service you must pay high end prices. If you are a senior and on a fixed income this is not the place for you. To sum it up, docs, techs and door greeters are very friendly and caring. If you are on social security and a fixed income this place is not for you. I was lucky enough to return to my original vet because he reopened his practice, and he has an exceptional reputation around my area and pricing for those financially constrained is affordable.”

“I’ve been to both the Banfield hospitals in Salem. The Tuscan Village one did not impress me each time I went so I started going to the one inside of Petsmart. This May my favorite cat in the world Became sick again with some thing he’s had in the past. They did not pressure me to do any imaging as he was almost 17 and I knew what was happening. They prescribed the same medication he was before. Unfortunately the next day he declined even more and the best move was to make him comfortable. I was with the same vet technician Brianna and the same physician Dr.Denault both days. They made me feel so comfortable. They made my baby warm and comfortable and allowed me to snuggle him in an exam room while I waited an hour for my husband to get there. They explained the process, and went above and beyond with the steps that I could take afterwards.
This cat meant the world to me and I had always planned to make him comfortable at home. So being able to have such a calming experience in a vet office meant a lot to me and deserved a good review.”
