New to City of Amesbury & already refuse to deal with this PO branch ever again. Had 2 poor experiences within 1 1/2 yrs; 1st with package mailed to TN & 2nd incident earlier this yr totally due to postal worker error. On Feb 8 mailed large envelope ($9.00 ground fee) to Peabody for special occasion. Recipient did not receive by intended date. Tracking indicated envelope went to Cincinnati, OH instead on Valentine's Day (was supposed to be delivered to addressee by Feb 14). Eventually envelope fwd'd to Pittsburgh, PA day after, then onto Springfield, MA day after that with arrival to its destination in Peabody Feb 18, 2022. 10 days roaming around the country after mailing out from Amesbury. I returned to Amesbury PO looking for explanation hoping they would gladly offer refund since it was obviously postal worker's error putting into wrong cart; but they refused, stating I did not insure my envelope or send it Priority. Never have I paid extra $ to insure anything because nothing I send out is of much value, nor do I buy into Priority Mail because I mail within plenty of time. Never had this problem before anywhere, after 60 yrs using post offices in Reading & Woburn and traveling cross country mailing packages to grandchildren.

I have always been satisfied with their service. Also find staff friendly and helpful even around holidays.

Bob went out of his way to help an incorrectly addressed package get to the correct customer. Thanks!

Checking previous reviews, I can't help but notice the dates .. It's time for another. The facility is definitely following all COVID mandates which is awesome. However my experience there this morning wasn't good. Not familiar with the location I wasn't sure if they prefer prepaid/ labeled packages given to them directly at the windows....or if they have a bin to drop them in. So I decided to ask and got in line. The 2 clerks who were obviously having some type of amusing conversation among themselves at the time both shot me looks from....well, you know where. The way they answered me was beyond condescending... very uncomfortable to say the least. So much so that I just pushed my packages thru the plexiglass and walked out. There is absolutely no need to treat a customer this way! And I hope these juveniles don't decide to drop the packages in a circular file....so I WILL be tracking them.... Yes, the packages & the clerks if need be : - )))

Even with everything happening, my order was going to be sent back because I carelessly put in the wrong address. But when I called they said that they could drop off my package at the right address so it doesn't get sent back and I don't have to come down.

I wish they had kept the self-service stamp machine. That made it so much easier and more convenient to get stamps.

Delivered my priority mail package all bent and with a tear through the cardboard envelope on a saturday after the office closed. No notice or apology for the damaged condition as in the past. They just don't care apparently.

The mail carriers I've had over the years are very nice. recently I went to the Amesbury post office and the employee at the front counter named Rich for some strange reason had an attitude with me from the second I walked in. When I walked in I was the only person in there and I said hello how are you? He was just very cold and the tone of his voice was very unfriendly. I went in to ask if I could pick up a package that I know had been received by the post office and he seemed bothered that he had to go out back and look for it. He found it quickly I thanked him a couple of times when he brought me the package but he still had an attitude.I found a little bit odd because I'm a very polite friendly person

Two stars only because our mail carrier is good. I have never had a friendly or positive interaction at the post office itself. Every time I go in to mail anything the front desk is always sour and impolite.Better off going to Newburyport.

I've been using this post office for 26 years and overall, they have been great. They're a small post office, so understand that there will be a wait to send out your packages during the holidays. The employees are friendly and efficient. Our mail carriers have always been a delight. I've had few problems with my mail being delivered either to and from my home. I can deal with an occasional mistake or oversight; considering the volume that this post office deals with; it's understandable. Compared to what you pay for other mail/package carriers, the USPS is still a great value. However, I do wish that they hadn't removed the lobby stamp machine. That made getting stamps so convenient.
