This is the best shop in town. I’ve been a regular customer here for years and have had nothing but good experiences. Recently I made the mistake of taking my car to another place for an oil change because I had a coupon, and the other place told me my car needed $2100 worth of work. I didn’t quite trust that, so I took my car to Caples for a second opinion. Caples said I didn’t need any of the work, saving me $2100! Another time I tried to put air in my tires, but somehow I wound up letting a lot of air out instead, activating the low tire warning. I couldn’t figure out what I was doing wrong. I pulled into Caples at five minutes to close on a Friday and asked if they could help me. They put air in my tires, replaced one of valve stem caps that was messed up, didn’t make me feel like an idiot (even though I deserved it), and didn’t even ask for any money! If you want an honest shop that knows how to treat its customers, go to Caples.

I to give one star so I could leave a review. This place is a HUGE RIP OFF!!!! took the car in for O2 sensor replacement and to fix AC. The car broke down a block away from getting it out of the shop. They stated it was because the parts we purchased were after market and that is how this particular car is (shouldn't they have said that before letting us drive away). Bent the fender on the car, said they didn't do it even though it wasn't like that when it was dropped off at their shop. The air conditioning line was paid for and ordered however they ordered the parts a couple times only for it to be the wrong part and then having to send out the part to get it fixed. Charged $550 for the first visit. The part finally came in and now the bill is $742, we paid for the part for the ac the first go round!! FOR WHAT, same thing I asked. For starters they charge more than the average mechanic. I have a trucking business and diesel mechanics don't charge anywhere near what these people charge. They are truly a rip off!!! Make sure you get their hourly rate before you drop your car off. First we were told there was no charge today then we get slapped with a $742 bill, they changed their minds!!! $1300 for O2 sensors, O2 sensors to be changed and a part of the air conditioning line to be fixed. It has been over a month we've been waiting for the A/C line. THAT IS INSANE!!! I WILL NEVER DO BUSINESS WITH THEM AGAIN. I will make sure all people who ask about them know also. I have sent many of my drivers there, no more. They will never get my business ever again.

Caples has been servicing my vehicles for for the past 5 years and they were always the ones I recommended people.
I went in for a scheduled appointment, and was unfortunately informed tha they will no longer service me vehicles due to someone that I had no association at all they claimed to be my daughter cussed them out.
I do not have a daughter nor does anyone in my family know enough English to do that.

The personnel there are very polite and very knowledgeable. They actually had the technician come out and explain my car to me after they fixed it. Which I was very thankful for. You see I had a problem with my car and I needed it fixed I took it there and at first they said they couldn't get it in for a week but then gentleman behind the counter said well we have a snowstorm coming and he had my car there within 2 days and I so appreciated it with the snow storm coming. They were so thoughtful in my time of need and I can't thank them enough I will be a returning customer

Took my truck to them , it was making noise . They diagnosed the problem as a faulty transmission or torque converter . They wanted to do the repairs at a cost of somewhere between 3000 and 6500$ . Took it to Hanover Transmission shop , they diagnosed and fixed the problem for 305$ . what a difference ! Would never trust Caples Auto Repair again !

I brought my SUV in October to have the thermostat replaced and ever since then, there has been a faint smell of antifreeze (I figured it was just burning off). Yesterday, I noticed steam coming out of the front of my SUV that wreaked of antifreeze so I called Jerry to see if it could be due to the thermostat installation & he informed me that they would have to run a diagnostic pressure test on my vehicle to see where the leak was coming from and that it would cost me $129.00. So I asked him if it was an issue due to the installation then why would I have to pay that and he proceeded to tell me that because I purchased the thermostat myself, they couldn't warranty the part (but we got the warranty from the store) and if it was a labor issue, they would cover it, but I would still have to pay for the diagnostic test. I was also told back in October that my transmission case was cracked and I needed a new transmission so I took it to a transmission place for a second opinion and they told me it was NOT cracked and it was dried oil from whoever did my last oil change (Caples) that they didn't clean off and it just looked cracked. If they would have cleaned the oil off, they would have seen it was not cracked. I have been bringing my vehicle to Caples for years and have recommended them to several people, so I am very disappointed in how I have been treated. I know people make mistakes, but the attitude really upsets me. I do not feel I should have to pay for a diagnostic test when the antifreeze smell started right after they replaced the thermostat. This is so disappointing.

So far so good, vehicle still has a whining noise to it that it was thought to be the water pump and was replaced. Will have to troubleshoot further.
