I really should have dumped them years ago. I have never been happy. I finally made the decision to go with Wells Fargo. They are fantastic. Anyway, it took me 4 months of phone calls, emails and letters to close my account. What a hassle! They insisted that I come into a branch to close my account, but I live in CA now. I've never had such poor service.

Unbelievable bunch of idiots. I cannot comprehend what banking regulations these people are operating under. Their rules make absolutely no common sense whatsoever and are not based either in Law or on any Banking legislation. Certainly *not* on any accepted standard Banking practices or procedures. A bank account with BB&T that is joint w/right of survivourship between my mother and myself to handle expenses on a vacation property she owns in FL. She has Alzheimers and is now confined to a nursing home. I am her Power of Attorney. I walk into the FL branch of BB&T with a USD Bank Draft payable to both her and me. They will not accept it on deposit because she has not signed the back of it. Ever heard of a "Deposit to the credit of the Payee Stamp" people? Like the one you use when I mail a bank draft for deposit? Like I routinely do 3 or 4 times a year?? Nope. She is not present to endorse the back of the cheque and they "can't take the risk of depositing it in case the bank it is drawn on returns it for lack of a signature." So what happens with the bank drafts when I mail them in, without any endorsement on the back at all? And gee - I have to wonder why they've been accepting these bank drafts on deposit for the last 16 years without any comment at all. Okay - this is completely ridiculous - I am the Power of Attorney for my mother so, in order to get around these bizarre nonsensical rules, I provided them with a copy of the Power of Attorney to prove that I can in fact sign on behalf of my mother. Guess what? They can't accept that either. Why? Because the POA was not "authored" in the US. That would be because we are Canadian and all of her property and herself, are in Canada. Funny, her Lawyer in Florida accepted the P.O.A when I dropped it off to him to update the family trust that the property in Florida is held under. Moronic does not come remotely close to describing the business practices of this company.

BB&T bought out Susquehanna Bank...they sent me Bank cards to activate. Worst banking practice i have ever been subject too... Just trying to activate my cards ,phone call recorded voice naturally as if a person would answer. No option available are you 50 or older Are you under 50 none of there buisness but either way you answered you get a one Ad after another endless circle of crap you can win this you can win that you qualify for a Bahamma Vacation anything but an oppertunity to activate my card or speak to someone no matter what we pushed ie 0 or # the recorded crap continued thought i was sidelined but they Continued saying what BB&T could offer what they couldnt offer was some banking assitance...So i learned where not to Bank canceled my Direct Deposit closing the account i guess in person not attempting any thing by phone....Hope that it sinks in to BB&T that a common real voice is the way to start a new relationship with a customer. PS the number i called was the one they printed on the sticky label on the front of the card.

Great branch to deal with. Suzanne Hollinger in particular is a standout! She is an outstanding professional, and a credit to BB&T!
