Went once to sell and was told they weren’t accepting clothes because they had “filled up for the day” at 11 am. The store manager was incredibly rude to me.

Never open to receive items have tried five times and each time they claim to have reached their limit for the day. Was told they cater to sales not buying.

I haven't been able to sell clothes here since before Christmas...it's now April and days they buy are random and unpredictable. I finally figured out that it's best to call first to see after making two separate attempts, only to find out after I got there. The last few times I visited to shop, inventory was low for 8-9 year old boy clothes. I was so excited to see that a Once Upon a Child was opening in Waldorf. I was pleased with this location when it first opened...not anymore. SMH

The idea of this place is great, but it is poorly run. If you want to shop, I recommend showing up in the middle of the day, as they like to open late and close early, so if you arrive around the online posted opening and closing times, it's a gamble if it will be open. If you want to sell clothes back, GOOD. LUCK. Never just show up, you will be disappointed. You will wait around past opening for someone to show up, then most times they say they don't have the budget to take clothes, or the staffing to accept your clothes. They say to call the day prior and ask about the following day, but they won't answer the phone and the answering machine is always full so you can't leave a message. Their website is never up to date, so checking there won’t help you either. This place has potential, but I feel it is on a spiral downwards.

Needed some shoes for a one time ocasion. Been here many times even dropped off items for sale. Went with my 2 children walked in as soon as I walked in coughed ONCE. An older white lady that has been there for a long time made a comment to the other employee about it. I didn’t say anything just assume she’s having a bad day. Looking back hasn’t been the first time she’s been rude. Was walking around seemed like I was just being looked at non stop seems like they have been having some theft issues or something. Really felt uncomfortable. Anyways, already had some stuff that I was going to buy on the cart. One of my kids said he had to go potty. I asked and was told they didn’t have a bathroom and I said what do you mean I’ve been here before and used it. they said not to the public. The gentleman in the store was pretty professional and empathetic about it but the lady upfront was just not. It’s for a 4 year old! I’ve been looking at the reviews I really hope the owner understands that the customer service really will withdraw people from going back and just some feedback to the owner, this is a place where many parents will come with there little ones and restroom is a must especially for small children. Oh, and if a customer walks in how about a nice greet or welcome instead of a rude comment.

My girls and I really love this place, children grow so fast and it’s so nice to have an affordable place that we can get some pretty good quality stuff. The staff treats us like family and we always feel welcomed. I’ve never brung in anything that I wanted to sell, so I don’t know what that process is like, but I promise you if you’re respectful to the staff they are very helpful and kind. God Bless

Went to drop some things off and they weren't accepting anything until Friday or Saturday?!?! It's Tuesday.. I've been to many once upon a child stores and Have never seen that. Decided to take a look around and they don't even have that much stuff and the sizing is weird to look through, definitely worst one I've visited.

This location says they are open, then when you go within their designated hours, they are NEVER open. They have a sign on the door that says “Today we will be closing EARLY” and it’s on the door every single day. I have given up on this location.

Do yourself a favor and skip this store. Go to KID TO KID IN ROCKVILLE MD. I had to search for a kids consignment shop and I found one. Once upon a child is very unorganized and overpriced. The staff is rude and they never open on time. They haven’t did any drop offs in months. I call almost everyday so I gave up. I can’t wait til this business shuts down!

Wife called today to ask when they closed. She was told 7:30. After driving 20 min to get there, she saw a family walking out. She walked up to the store and the door was locked. Then the lights went out. The woman in the store came out shortly thereafter and said no one is coming today. Hello? A customer was at the door... This is the second time this has happened at this store.

About the manager..I guess anyone can be a manager at this location, with no actual management skills nor customer service skills for long time paying customers. I drove over 45 mins. to get this place. They opened at 10am on Friday and I arrived at 10:22 and was told by the manager “so the sign on the door is a real one” (not a good first impression) and they are not trading today because of insufficient funds in the cash register. You opened the business with no funds! That’s pretty piss poor leadership ? I told the Manager that I didn’t see the sign as I was too focused on getting a rather large container into the door and that I was not needing to trade and receive money back in a desperate attempt not have to drive back 45 minutes to my home mission unsuccessful and drive another 45 minutes back the next morning. I also mentioned to her that I drove 45 minutes to get here and she says to me “you won’t believe the stories that I hear” this lady had the audacity to accuse me of lying about my travel time. The manager and I swear you can’t make this up she said to me “well we usually tell people to call when we first open” I was not ever told this, and quite frankly, I shouldn’t have to call a business that I’ve shop frequently, who has a business Google account which states their operating hours, to call to check whether they’re open for full business or not. Anyway, I explained to her that I am only trading/purchasing and that I didn’t need any money back. She proceeded to tell me that she doesn’t feel comfortable with that. So she walked away from a potential sale with no actual reasoning or logic. Somebody woke up on the wrong side of the bed that morning because this woman was incredibly rude and boastful. She seemed like she was friends with her owner, her boss, because she gave me the owners full name, as if this is just standard business practice and that the owner would not reprimand her if I were to send an email. She also didn’t know her store email address when asked. So instead of sending an email I decided to write this review because my interaction with her bothered me to the core. I won’t be coming back to this franchise. There are so many other children consignment stores in the DMV with pleasant staff/management and consistent business practices.

This place is the worst. The people who work here are rude. I called 4 times today at 10:30am on 12/20 and the girl who answered literally hung up on me when I asked if they are taking drop offs. I called because they haven’t been taking any drop offs for the past 6 months! The people who work here are unbelievable they give I hate my job vibes. Hire a new staff before the business goes under.
