The front office staff was pleasant overall but the shelter definitely does not do a comprehensive exam on pets. The pet I adopted had eye drainage the day I saw her and I did apply for her and got approved. After I received the approval call the day after I asked if there were any medical issues I needed to be aware of, to which I was informed she did have an "eye thing" going on and it was being taken care of.When I got there to pick my new pet up, the person who I assume was the manager or director was condescending and nitpicking about everything, from not loading her into the carrier fast enough to not having a blanket in the carrier. She was especially rude when I asked her about my pets eye's and if she would need medication. She then made a phone call to who I may have spoke to (didn't know their name) and proceeded to talk about how it's only a little drainage that could be from anything and that nothing of the sort was done for her eye's. They do give you a free well pet coupon to local vets but they are scheduling at least weeks in advance so that doesn't really help at this time. I managed to get an appointment with my vet only to hear it there is definitely conjunctivitis and bilateral ear infection. I feel like the pets health should have been more of a concern than making sure the cat carrier had a blanket in it.I've gotten a couple pets from HSCC over the last decade or so without really any issues or if there was they were ready to help out but it just seemed kind of on my own this time without any real desire to resolve the issues. Not sure if management has changed or what.

We adopted our cat Lola from this animal shelter about 2 months ago. The shelter did a great job walking us through the process of adopting (first time adopting a cat) and letting us know how Lola is. Since being home she has really opened up and shown her full personality! She is such a lap cat and follows me everywhere! My tiny best friend. Great experience overall.

I Love this place we have gotten 2 cats from them and I'm also a foster for cats. My daughter loves to go there and play with the cats and we donate as much as we can so an animal doesn't have to be without.

Surprisingly fast foster to adoption process. They took the time to assist in matching the right dog for our youngest child. The first dog was so gentle, but she didn't interact with him hardly at all. The second one however, she loves playing with him.

I love that all the animals were clean and it did not smell like I expected it to. Good job staff taking care of the animals. I adopted an adorable kitten that is healthy and thriving.

I would give 0 stars if I could. I booked boarding for my dogs on 09/02 for travel 12/17-12/26. Someone called me on 12/12 to tell me that they were overbooked and that my dogs were aggressive during their last stay and that they would not be able to accept them for our upcoming trip. If this was the case, I should have been informed that they could not accept my dogs weeks ago or even back in September when we picked them up after our last trip! Of course, because our travel dates are Christmas weekend, we can’t find another boarder. So, one of us must stay home with the dogs which means $1,500+ lost. Not to mention, that we left pre-bagged food for each dog daily the last two times we boarded. When we picked them up, there was so much food left! The first time, we chalked it up to the dogs not wanting to eat because they missed us. I guess they hadn’t been fed at all. If I wasn’t feed properly for over a week, I would be aggressive too! My recommendation, definitely board somewhere else. DO NOT waste your time here. YOU HAVE BEEN WARNED!!!

Im getting really tired of trying to contact your shelter. I could barely get an answer when i adopted my cat. Now two weeks later he is having blood in his stool I was not told he had any problems. I asked. Trying to call you to find some answers, but no one picks up and cant leave a voice mail. Pretty frustrated.

This shelter needs to be retrained IMMEDIATLY on how to be a shelter. They approve multiple applications on the same pet so you probably cannot adopt the animal you originally planned. I will be seeking adoption at other responsible shelters and suggest everyone does the same until this shelter can figure out how to properly handle adoption requests.

This place will approve multiple applications for the same animal, tell you to come pick it up then by the time you get there they'll have already given that animal to someone else. No communication between staff. The sad thing is we were there and filled out the application while we were sitting there with the cat. We could have taken it right then and there but they told us they didn't have time to review our application. We spent hundreds of dollars on new cat things after our application was approved just to be heart broken and disappointed. I really hope this place changes the way they run things because it's just terrible.

Very kind and friendly and I would give them 5 stars however when you have to return a dog you just adopted due to circumstances you can not control you do not get a refund so know ahead of time. This does not seem right to me at all. Especially for Elderly or Diasabled people.
