I regret to say that my experience with SmartBox has been nothing short of disappointing, and I cannot, in good conscience, recommend this company to others. While their prices may seem appealing at first glance, the abysmal level of customer service I encountered has left a bad taste in my mouth.
My ordeal began when I received my first box. After a month, there was severe water damage in the unit. These boxes are made to be weather proof, so you can imagine how upsetting this was. Naturally, I reached out to their customer service team to address the issue and was assured that I would receive reimbursement for the months I had already paid and compensation for the damages incurred. However, despite numerous attempts to follow up, I never received any form of resolution or acknowledgment of my concerns.
In a desperate attempt to escalate the matter, I tried contacting the manager at the Maryland Branch, but my calls went unanswered, and I never received a callback. Subsequent attempts to reach out to their customer service line were equally fruitless, as promises to send emails or investigate the issue further were made but never fulfilled.
Unfortunately, personal circumstances, including a near-death childbirth, prevented me from pursuing the matter further. SmartBox finally arranged to pick up the box on May 13th, I was yet again disappointed to discover that they had charged me for another month (May-June). Again, I was promised this would be handled and that I would receive a refund within 7 days... I have my doubts.
My experience has been marred by their inability to address customer concerns and provide the level of service one would expect. Despite their competitive pricing, the lack of accountability and responsiveness exhibited by their staff has left me deeply dissatisfied and reluctant to engage with them in the future.

Used them for a storage box at my home while it was under construction. SmartBox was fantastic! The box arrived on time, payment was easy (and affordable), and pickup was a breeze. Would 100% use them again and recommend them to others.

Boxes were to be delivered Friday. They never came. I called the central number twice. they tried to contact the local MD office. I was told I was on the delivery schedule, and they should arrive, but they couldn't reach anyone directly. So called Saturday, and was told the local office is closed on the weekend. SO I cancelled the contract. I was planning to load the boxes this weekend and now I am screwed. Zero communication from the delivering office. Don't bother if you are in MD, they are unreliable.

Not only was this expensive, but also incredibly stressful. We moved from Richmond, Virginia to Glen Burnie, Maryland. The Virginia side of things went very smoothly. Once we got to Maryland, our smart boxes were delivered 2 weeks late, and communication was poor. The movers were not careful with our things and piled everything in the driveway breaking or damaging multiple items. We ended up hiring Two Men and A Truck to move the rest of our large items and it went much smoother and cost us far less in money, time, and stress.

In late January, I contacted SmartBox to have my empty box picked up. The earliest date they could arrange pick up was January 30th. It is now February 11th, I have attempted on multiple occasions to reschedule and on multiple occasions to find out why the delay. They have never given me a phone call or an answer. It has now been almost 2 weeks since the first scheduled pick up and the box is still here -- and still no plan on how to remove it.

DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY! Our units never shipped and the company waited until A WEEK AFTER OUR SHIPMENT DATE to tell us - meanwhile, we had been trying to contact them to get an update and we unable to reach a representative. On top of this, the company would not deliver our units to our home - which requires us to rent a vehicle to move our things from the closest storage facility to our new home. Overpriced for the horrible service they provide.

My delivery if two boxes was delayed by a day which set back my project. The delivery driver, Gil, was a true professional, the delay was not his fault, and he put the boxes exactly where I wanted them. They need two or three more just like him.

By far the worst LONG DISTANCE MOVERS ever. It's been over 2 weeks that my items were to be delivered and yet I'm still waiting on them. The worst part is that, no one from SMARTBOX has called me. Not one person from that company. They might be good for local services, but in no way are they good for long distance. I can see that respond back to your good text messages, then nothing if they messed. Check out the reviews on GOOGLE, and you'll see. They also tried to blame everyone else, but themselves, and that a show also. People, take this review for what it is,and definitely DO NOT BOOK LONG DISTANCE WITH THEM.

We actually booked a trailer move for next month but after reading all the horrible reviews we called and cancelled to be safe. On the customer service side however, we had an amazing experience. Paula, Latoya & Miranda were wonderful to speak to, they were extremely helpful and honest with us. It almost made us want to give them a shot.

Where do i begin? We ordered 8 they gave us 4 and told us on the day before of our move. When they came they told us we had 4 hours to fill them for pickup otherwise they wouldnt be able to pick up their boxes in time for our close date where we had to vacate. They dropped a box on the street. Later when we asked for delivery from their elizabeth storage facility they informed us one of our boxes broke and they had to transfer the contents to a new box. No big deal. But we later found out 2 of our 4 boxes had their padlocks broken off and to this day my kid's bunkbed side piece is missing where we now have to replace their bed. Their delivery and dropoff staff were nice and personable. The service itself sucks. We secured 4 boxes at the last minute from uhaul. Much more expensive but didnt have to deal with this lowgrade nonsense.

DO NOT USE! Go with a real company like zippy or pods!They cancelled on us THE DAY WE WERE MOVING, leaving us completely hanging and they didn't provide any solutions!!!!

They provided the basics, so I give them more than 1 star. They dropped a pod at my place, picked it up the next day, took it to the destination. Dropped the box at the destination, and picked it up again the next day. Nothing was damaged in shipment. What else could I want? Well, it was hard to reach them, and they never contacted me to let me know what was going on. Kind of a black box. On top of that, a week after the pod was emptied and taken back, they sent an email that my rent was due in 3 days. I owed nothing. I paid in full up front. When I finally got through to them, they said it's an automated email and to ignore it. They don't seem to be concerned this is a waste of time for me and for them. Amazon and others can track a $4 package and tell you where it is and when to expect it. These folks charge $1500 for a small pod shipment 1000 miles, and don't seem to have any interest in providing tracking or any other information about your stuff. Would I use them again? That's just a maybe. I would have to think about it.

Worst company ever. The pod got delayed 3 times and I wasn't told until the very last minute (they said the driver didn't show up like the other reviews). I had to change my whole schedule and paid extra parking fee due to their late pick up. Plus, they never answer the phone and the driver forgot to place my lock so I had to buy my own. I was so frustrated for weeks because of their delays and poor customer service. Please, everyone, DON'T USE THIS SERVICE!
