Owl's Nest Farm has been my CSA for seven years, and I recommend them to anyone in the DC area who is looking for lush produce, a customizable vegetable share, and a business that truly supports their workers and the environment. I am consistently impressed with the quality and quantity of vegetables we get each week in our share--greens galore in the spring, a veritable bounty of tomatoes, peppers, squash, and more in the summer, and fall brings the best of spring and summer plus winter squashes and root vegetables. Picking up our share is always a highlight of my week because I get to talk with the farm team about what's going on at the farm and rave about all the fun meals I've eaten with their veggies. Plus, they offer several different add-ons (eggs, meat, fruit, a solidarity add-on highlighting local producers/makers) so you can enhance your share if you choose.A big part of the reason I choose a CSA is not only for the fresh vegetables, but also to get to know the farmers and their relationship with the land. I am so proud that as of 2024, Owl's Nest is a worker-owned cooperative. I love knowing that I'm supporting a worker-owned business who treats their workers with dignity and respect, as well as treating the land with dignity and respect through their environmental practices.Of all the CSAs I've tried in the DMV, Owl's Nest is my favorite and the one I'm sticking with!

We love Owl's Nest CSA! Their veggies are always fresh and delicious (the greens are our favorite, especially the arugula), and there are a ton of fun choices and extras (one week we got seedlings!). Plus, it's so much fun to be able to support a local farm, especially now that it's a co-op. Highly recommend if you're looking for a CSA option in DC!

Fresh flavorful vegetables. Owl's Nest provides a combination of standard vegetables I consistently cook with plus a vegetable or two that I wouldn't think to buy but end up being delighted by. Unlike other CSAs, between the friendly farmers and weekly updates (and recipes!), I feel like I get to know the farm. Best part is the pick up locations. If you live in Mt Pleasant or Colombia Heights, they are super conveneient (plus many other neighborhood in DC, for different pick up spots). Highly recommend as a quality, well priced CSA.

I love my Owls nest CSA, it is the culinary highlight of my week! The produce is fresh and flavorful. They have full and half share options. I get a half share because i grow things in my garden too. It’s the perfect suppliment in the summer and they keep me stocked in the winter with roots and greens as well. They also offer add ons to their CSA, the eggs are delicious, the local grains are a treat and the solidarity add ons are. great way to learn about new offerings from local folks. The email you get with your share gives insight into the farm and a preview of what you’ll pick up that week.I can pick up in Brentwood, which is really convenient for me.

I've been a member of owl's nest farm for three years - three main season CSAs and three winter CSAs! I love Owl's Nest and have recruited a ton of friends to join as well. The vegetables are consistently delicious (pea shoots and carrots and sweet potatoes and garlic and kale are my fave fave faves) and pickup is a 15 minute walk from my house in Petworth. The best part of this CSA is that I actually truly feel like I know the farmers. I love seeing Rue and Liz at pickup and hearing about baby Wren. They have open house several times a year so I can go see the farm itself and how everything gets done - the greenhouse, the fields, the truck, the wash pack station. It's been a privilege watching Owl's Nest become a worker owned coop and feel happy to have been able to be a CSA member through that process. The fruit and egg and mushroom and grain and solidarity add-ons are fantastic and mean I almost never have to go grocery shopping (except to get tofu!)Thus ends my love letter to owls nest, five stars forever

Love this farm and the thoughtfulness that goes into their produce variety! They always have a great mixture of produce, and other things (I.e meat, eggs, granola, etc... from other local small producers) that gives us everything we need in our CSA share!

Bought a bouquet of flowers at at DC farmers market from Owl's Nest Farm on a Saturday. A few of the filler greens were already wilting and I pointed this out to the woman running the stand, but she didn't lower the price. She said the flowers were picked the day before. I cut the stems under running water when I got home and put them in a vase. By Sunday morning (a day after purchasing), five of the eight flowers were wilted and the other three don't look that great. I've never seen sunflowers with such a short lifespan. Not sure whether to question the woman's honesty about when they were picked, or whether they're just sickly flowers. :(
