its dirty! And... Despite what you might surmise from looking at it, the Y doesn't open the pool for capable adult swimmers. it's for little tikes and old people who don't know how to swim and for swim team. Forget it if you want to swim laps at. reasonable time. Just tonite I looked at the schedule which said that 4 laps lanes were open starting at 7:30. at 7:35 there were lessons and swim team going on. when inquired, I was told that the pool is closed. after a bit of back and forth I learn that "it's closed means that it closed to anyone who want to do laps i.e. can swim because they don't have enough life guards. but people who can't swim are apparently safer

This was a nice place to teach my son how to swim. I had to cancel my membership recently because over this pass year we have had less time as a family to make the most out of our membership. With that being said it was not easy to cancel the membership. I had to go into the place to cancel which is funny because I was able to join online. It's part of their policy to charge an extra month of fees after you cancel. I was going to rejoin later this year when our schedule wasn't so crazy, but I will pass on that. It's super annoying when companies make it difficult to cancel memberships and the 30 day policy to charge you for the following month is just a money grab. I wish more people would block companies that have these practices.

I've absolutely loved my experience since becoming a member of the Y. My family and I first joined to take advantage of their exercise equipment and swimming pool. These two perks have not let us down. The gym includes a variety of machines, free weights and lifting equipment. There is always an employee on duty to assist in the equipment area if need be. And, despite the fact that it sometimes gets super busy, I've never had to wait longer than a few minutes for whatever I needed. The pool hours are different each day of the week and if it gets too crowded they will close it off to additional people. For the most part, when my family has wanted to swim, they've had the chance to. Since joining we've discovered so many additional perks. They have an indoor basketball court with open gym hours and an intense rock wall with open climb times. They host "Parents Night Out" a couple times a month where parents can drop off their kids (for FREE) and go out. During certain times of day they have drop in child care if you want to work out or take a class but have your kids in tow. Some activities that cost additional money (outside of your membership fee) are summer camps and day camps. On days when county schools are closed, they offer "fun days". For 40ish dollars they will watch your kids for the day. They have sports leagues (my kids have played soccer) and swimming lessons. The facilities are incredibly well kept and the employees always seem helpful and relatable. Our experience here has gone well beyond what we expected! If you have the means, I definitely would recommend.

Beautiful space, very large and a wonderful variety of programming. It's our family's go-to Sunday spot.

Discrimination at Y in Towson I am very concerned on with the treatment my children experience today at the Y in Towson. I would like to share that my children went at the Y today and attempted to use our membership which was paid for yesterday. The front desk clerk informed my children that it takes 72 hours for a payment to be applied to the account and then they would be able to use their membership today. My son was on the phone with me on FaceTime and restated the information given. I told my son this was incorrect and we have always used our membership same day of payment. I attempted to call the Y and I received no answer. I could hear my son attempting to get assistance and not one staff assisted them. I told my son to ask for the manager and the clerk was very dismissive and left the front. They never received assistance. My children experienced ignorance, dismissive actions, and we given false information during this encounter that prevented them from using their membership. I'm utterly shocked and disappointed. We didn't expect this to transpire the way it did. We feel like this is was an act of discrimination.

Welcoming staff, friendly people all around. Classes are very good and do accept all fitness types and encourage participation. Equipment and pool and locker rooms in good condition. Sauna also well maintained. Really a place for everyone

The best gym ever! It has everything, it's clean and the people -- both staff and clients -- are friendly and welcoming. The pool is excellent. Plus I know that my money is going to a great cause.

I love going to the Orokawa Y. Whether I am working out or swimming, the energy there is always positive due to the staff, and other members of the Y community!

Naked old men in the bathrooms. Every bathroom. Just constantly. Every way you look. Naked old men. They just appear. I was takin a leak once right before closing, not a single soul in the place. I spend about 3 seconds peeing, open the stall door, naked old man. Right there. I have no idea how he even got in bro he was just standing there, wrinkled, the skin hanging off his white pasty body like a sheet. He didn’t even take a shower or anything he just stood there while I slowly left. Waited for like 30 mins after closing outside to see if the old sap was ok. Never saw him leave. Spine chilling. That’s why I am scared of ghosts. Stay safe. Still 5 stars cus wonderful pool and many treadmills.

I love this place. I just signed up for the Y and my home Y is in Westminster. I have not been to Westminster yet. I came here so my kids and I can swim in the family pool. I was greeted immediately when I walked in. A gentleman helped me and ended being the executive director, he was incredibly humble. My son and I were there for about an hour. There were other families but it wasn’t overly crowded. There are places for you to sit if your child has classes and there is also an area to drop your children off. There are large windows so you can see everything happening and there were multiple people working in there. That’s important to me because I am very apprehensive with leaving my kids with people I don’t know. It is a great center with joyful people.

Since they do not have a therapy pool, they keep the main pool at therapy pool temperatures, usually around 87 degrees f. It's not suitable for lap swimming.

We only joined this gym because they have daycare do we can work out while our daughter is watched. Turns out the hours are very limited especially when schools are closed and it’s needed most, in summer. Then you drive over and they are full and there’s an hour waiting list. This gym needs more daycare personnel and better hours.

So..... I've been a member of the Y for approximately 6 months. This is my favorite club so far. However, I must say that all I have done to this point is swim. To get a swim in can sometimes be a gamble because you never know if you're going to get a lane or if the pool is going to be closed. So I REALLY appreciate the notifications the Orokawa Y gives via the mobile app!! They Y gives the most up to date/clear/pertinent notifications & updates, via app. Trust me on this! They also seem to have less problems with life guard manpower. And the pool is nice! The sauna is a bonus. As for the rest of the club, I agree with another comment that it can be overwhelming when you pull up to a full parking lot. But the club never seems crowded. I love the fireplace and seating surrounding it. You can relax for a minute to exhale before or after your workout. There's plenty of equipment. I previously had a personal training business so I can tell you, you'll have more than everything you need. There are also several breakout rooms if you're looking for a bit of privacy. The staff all seem pleasant, but I haven't found the need to deal with them often. This is a great club.
