Horrible CS. No help, and it feels like they have people ready to buy at the people's prices. This seems very corrupt. They seem to have others over bid minutes from the auctions end. I am the most honorable man and this just feels corrupt from what has happened to me.

Bought a rental duplex where owner did minor renovations, raised rent, got new tenants, and flipped the building. The auctioneer will not disclose tenant info, which is understandable, but the tenants conveyed would never pass a credit check, not were the downstairs HVAC or water heaters permitted and inspected by the City. Ask if your tenants passed a credit check, if appliances were inspected, look for outstanding code violations on the City's website. Check that your zoning for use and occupancy is correct. Baltimore is a highly regulated rentals market, and the City will be on you as soon as you purchase a property. It can be hard to get this information from the seller when purchasing via auction. Be prepared to spend a few thousands to make your property compliant.

If I could leave this auction company a zero star review I would. My experience with them was terrible almost from the start! Especially with dealing with Doug! His customer service attitude was atrocious! I was told my items were going to be shipped on 3 different occasions only for them not to be shipped. Heck even getting them to run the payment took almost 2 weeks! His response almost always took multiple days. They messed up the shipping payment and when asked them to remedy it my message was ignored! I've been buying items off internet auctions for years now and have never had issues or felt so ignored and disrespected from one before, especially considering the amount of money I spent with them at this auction. Thanks to them despite asking them multiple times about shipping the items I missed the event I originally purchased the items for in the first place and now feel like I just waisted my money and time dealing with such a sub-par company as this one! I wouldn't recommend this auction company to anyone or atleast if you do don't deal with Doug!

I sold a piece of jewelry with Alex Cooper which went fine, however, I had a long and exhaustive email conversation regarding getting many pieces of American Brilliant Period cut glass into their discovery auction. After they vetted the pieces they wanted to sell from my collection, I painstakingly packed them in bubble wrap and brought three tubs full to their warehouse. I was sorely disappointed when I saw the final auction listings for the glass items, which said nothing about their type or age (all being antique), included an expensive modern bohemian brand name piece (with original maker's sticker) without even mentioning the brand with other items that were totally unrelated, bundled them in two huge lots, and generally put little effort into the listings. Similar previous listings had gone for $20 - $40 which was not remotely worth the effort. I felt like my items were treated like garbage, and that they were attempting to sell them for as little as possible, so I pulled all of them from the auction.

I want to start off this review by saying this is not my first time purchasing real estate via the Alex Cooper Real estate auction. I made my first purchase in 2020, and Larry Cooper was the agent who listed it. Prior to that purchase, I had made several inquiries on other properties, and have corresponded with Jared, Seth, and Matt. My interactions with each of them were very pleasant, and I was able to ask questions about the properties regarding access, etc. My experiences with them were all positive, including the property I closed where Larry was the agent, which is why I am a return customer. However, I will have to say this last interaction with Carley Cooper was pretty awful to say the least. From the day I won the auction, her phone demeanor was extremely abrasive and combative. When I asked about having an inspection prior to closing, she immediately told me no, and I asked her if she could ask the seller which she claims she did, but I highly doubt it given the matter of fact way she noted the detail in the contract I agreed to. I know what I agreed to, but Larry Cooper was very gracious in his approach on the previous property I purchased, and it was allowed. It shouldn’t matter anyway, as I am purchasing the property regardless of any defects found. I feel she was just being lazy, didn’t ask the seller anything and just did what she wanted to do. I have no proof of this, but that is what it felt like. From that moment on, I made it a point not to contact her. Any questions I had regarding the property I asked other people or did my own research.Fast Forward to a few days prior to closing. Because Carley was so TERRIBLE to deal with, I tried to go through the closing agent, who was Janis Stevens at Cotton Duck title company (she was amazing by the way) to get information about how the keys would be exchanged at closing. Janis explained that no one was returning her calls for information on how to get the keys, so unfortunately I had to call Carley. She assured me the keys would be at property closing day.On closing day, the title company confirmed receipt of my funds I sent via bank wire and I sign everything. I am expecting to get the keys. The seller is not present for closing but she signed remotely. Long story short Carley at first refused to send me the code to get the keys because I couldn’t provide a ratified contact. But the title company was unable to get the sellers signed documents from the notary which was not my fault, but I had to sit and wait aside from the fact I had done my part. I head to the property, and on the way I get a text from Carley with the code. When I get to the property, because of her negligence and carelessness, the code doesn’t work. I call to explain this to her as I am frustrated, and she has the nerve to tell me ”YOU DON’T HAVE TO SAY IT LIKE THAT”, and she’s speaking to me in a very disrespectful way as if I am her child, which made me upset as I have been respectful up until this point. Mind you I am patronizing her family’s business, yet this is how she talks to me. I get off the phone and she texts me to let me know someone would be there to hand me the keys. The person arrives with the correct code. He opens the box and there are no keys. I am livid at this point because this woman has the nerve to talk to me in such a condescending manner, and has done an awful job at providing customer service from day 1. She really needs a lesson on how to interact and talk to people especially her customers, because it seems she feels very entitled and clearly thinks its ok to talk reckless. I am not saying I will never buy another property from alex cooper auctions, because my first experience was great, but I NEVER want to deal with her again. She never apologized for her negligence, and thought it was ok to be disrespectful. If you are purchasing from this auction house, steer clear of her. She’s NOT customer service oriented. She careless, negligent, disrespectful, and incompetent and her actions (or lack thereof) are indicative of that.
