Hapkido is awesome because you get to do target kicking and self defense! It is fun because you get to earn different colored belts. You also get to do kicking in mid air. —David, purple belt, age 7.

I’m Rylee Mowery and I go to this place I highly recommend this place for kid and little kid’s who want to learn self defense to go here because the instructor’s there are super nice and they teach you kick’s self defense rolling extra it’s so fun!? ?

Master Sullivan has built such a sense of community in Taneytown with the HapKiDo gym. The Instructors are respectful and knowledgeable in their teaching. They emphasize good values like serving and giving back to the community and the kids always have a great time in class.

I really appreciate the no nonsense approach that this school has. At the same time the patience that is exercised with the new kids is pretty awesome to see as well. This is the best Dojo we have found so far ???

Instructor Sullivan does an incredible job with my five year old son in the beginners class. Hap Ki Do is amazing for teaching respect and building confidence at all ages! I cannot wait to see how my son progresses through this program for years to come!

Update 5/2023 Continue to LOVE this! Started HapKiDo over a year ago. Absolutely LOVE this journey ? The class atmosphere created by the instructors is fantastic. My two sons also take and we enjoy family class together on Saturdays. Saturday is fun as the head instructor leads us sparring class followed by weapons class. This really ups the enjoyment all of us get! If you've read this far, you owe it to yourself to give it a try. You will be welcomed and encouraged ?Also, I am still taking ShapeUp Kickboxing. Absolutely LOVE having this as part of my cardio training. Hit the bag, push yourself, and the other folks in class make it so much fun! Regardless of which instructor we have, you'll love it. Try it out!!!Update 11/2021- I've been taking the Shape Up Kickboxing for a year. Regular attendance has assisted me in losing about 30 lbs and increased my strength. Push ups, ab strength, and arm strength are all up. The instructor provides an opportunity for anyone who comes to get in better shape regardless of your current physical shape. I'm glad I started taking that opportunity. I have more weight to drop and continue on. Recently, I started taking Hap Ki Do. Same great environment and on Saturday I enjoy the family class with my boys, who continue to enjoy training here.Fantastic environment to study martial arts. The instructor is top notch! Great working with kids. Heavy in teaching respect for Country, each other, and ones self.

Instructor Steph and Lisa keep kickboxing class challenging and fun! They are both very knowledgeable and friendly and will assist you in your goals for fitness and self defense and get you to break a sweat! I looked forward to class.
