Dr. Carey has been unfailingly kind and skilled in her treatment of my fur friends over the years. I can't thank her enough.

A wonderful place for veterinary care. The staff is friendly and welcoming. My only issue is the lack of parking in the area. Be prepared to walk a ways from your car to the vet's office.

Dr. Malachi is amazing. I trust her advice and care for our dog, Diva. When they see each other, they always treat each other like old friends. I am always pleased with our experience.

Always a long wait for a very short and VERY expensive appointment. For example: $160 for an annual exam that lasted approximately 5 minutes with zero to report on from the vet. You cannot go back with your dog during exams to ask questions. This was a truly bad experience and I will be finding a new vet.

i know this is not typical, and that's why i'm sharing. my mother was my father's full time caretaker, and their dog was way too excitable. i had plans to stay with them and help toward the end, but the dog was so bonkers that i had to leave the house because he could not calm down / stop barking at me. it was crazy making. so the vet prescribed some meds and delivered them to my mother the same day because she couldn't leave my father alone. really above and beyond in a moment of true need.

***DO NOT TAKE YOUR ANIMALS HERE***
I do not know what this place was like a year or more ago, but currently this is the WORST place to take your pets.
We recently moved to the area and previously our 3 year old Chihuahua LOVED the vet. We went to this place because it was very close. After getting a small bump checked out on our dogs foot, they insisted on a biopsy and surgery without giving us any information on what would take place. We went to another vet for a second opinion, (to which they said the bump can be remedied with an epson salt bath, and it has helped tremendously) and after getting records transferred our new vet notified us that Takoma Park Animal Clinic PUT A MUZZLE ON OUR DOG WITHOUT OUR PERMISSION AND NEVER TOLD US. Our dog is not a biter, she has never bitten, and certainly hasn’t bitten any of their vets. I am beyond livid at finding this out, and this place desperately needs to be shut down.
Additionally, we have been going here for about 6 months, and the head vet has changed about 2 or 3 times. Not a good sign.

We took our dog in yesterday for a well annual check up, for the past 4 years the cost has been around $300 but this time was more than $750! Before you take your pets in, ask for the cost first so you are not caught off guard. We compared the procedure costs from 2023, many of the costs were doubled!

PLEASE DON'T take your pet here. Last year I adopted a rescue cat who was around 17 years old. TPAC didn't tell me seniors are supposed to get 6 month wellness exams - I didn't know. Vets are supposed to tell you stuff like that. Then at his annual exam, the vet suspected hyperthyroidism, but didn't give him meds (just an appetite stimulant) and I could swear that they told me that they did bloodwork - but they didn't. They told me to come back in a couple weeks. I assumed that was to give time to get bloodwork results. His last bloodwork was a year ago (right before I adopted him) so I'm pretty sure they should have done bloodwork as part of his annual. But in 3 weeks, my most beloved cat had several strokes and died. To me, not giving a senior cat bloodwork at his annual exam is negligence. Overall, I feel like they are disorganized and bad at telling you what care your pet needs. Finally, they only have a couple vets so there is a long wait time for appointments, and their hours are quite limited (they don't have evening hours and are now closed on both Saturday and Sunday according to the sign on their door).

I am trying to relocate my pet to a place with a few pre-arrival steps and when I originally called, I was told they knew exactly how to get this done. When I showed up for the appointment, the staff kept asking me what I needed done, and eventually took my cat back and came out with a bill. The staff was supposed to schedule a follow up and then didn't. I then went and researched what needed to be requested another visit so we can continue with the test/vaccines, etc. Similarly, more tests were done, and another bill was created.
Now, when I spoke to the receptionist, I was told 2 more visits are still required but they couldn't say what for. When I asked why this wasn't conveyed during the visits and what else is pending, the receptionist started saying I was harassing her. When I was asked to speak the vet, she repeated that that was harassment as well and put me on hold, eventually returning to say the vet will call me back. When I asked if I could get an email instead as I was in a different time zone, that too was declared harassment.

Staff was rude when I tried calling multiple times to get information about my pets medical records. Not efficient at all with scheduling or making appointments. Vets do not have clear communication, even when asked directly for information regarding my pets visit. You are not allowed in the room during the examination. They require a $25 fee to receive your pets very own medical records. I’m not sure why they are so disrespectful and disorganized. I tried giving them multiple chances and different visits to see if maybe they were having an off week, but it was a horrible experience pretty much every single time. I would not recommend taking your animals here. There are better vets in the area to take your pets to.

Rude staff, and if your pet has an acute condition, be prepared to go somewhere else as they never have an appointment available within 2 months. Serviceable at best for routine checkups, not worth it otherwise.
