Pros
Was able to get an appointment at a time I was available in the later evening on short notice
Very friendly and kind stylist who probably did her best and just doesn’t have experience with going from long to short with my hair type
Cons
Went from long to short short hairstyle, cutting off 10-12 inches. I love the length and have done the same before several times. However this stylist did not cut my hair evenly. It looks choppy and multiple fly away hairs were missed that I didn’t notice till I arrived home. It was pretty bad. Had to trim multiple spots up myself to just look decent. Still the haircut is uneven as a whole with the back to front not properly blended or tapered giving a choppy look and the top to bottom layers uneven as well. It looks like she didn’t properly section my hair and trim but rather tried to cut too much hair at a time. Very disappointing. Guess I got what I paid for. Should have just paid the $60-100 and gone to a professional stylist. Cause now that’s what I’ll have to do anyways to fix my hair now. Really wanted to have a good experience and give Hair Cuttery my buisness for myself and my family. But will never come back again after this.
Requested style: I showed a photo of my hair at a short chin to shoulder length. My hair currently was at my waist and asked to go from very long to short. Got the length off but she didn’t properly blend and check the entirety of my hair after the initial long to short chop which ended up giving me a very choppy and uneven awkward look. Not anything like my photo of myself from before.

Melissa K - Senior DesignerI’ve worn very short hair for many years. With my last stylist, I got more compliments on my hair from strangers than I could count. So I was very concerned when I had to look for a new stylist. I looked at reviews and decided a good plan would be to find a female stylist that gets excellent reviews from men. That strategy led me to Melissa K. at Hair Cuttery in Eldersburg.After 5 cuts or so, on my most recent visit, I brought a family member with me. So I got to watch Melissa cut someone else’s hair. While combing out each section of hair to cut, she would take the time to study the direction of growth. I have watched this family member get many haircuts and never saw any stylist do that!I was leaving a hospital the other day and a man stopped me and, almost forcefully, told me he liked my hair. He seemed really impressed with my cut.I already knew Melissa is giving me the best haircuts I’ve ever had, but it’s always nice to get compliments.With Melissa’s cuts I never go through the gawky stage, of the first week or 2 post-cut. People with very short hair know what I mean.Sometimes I get a trim sooner than I really need it, to get on the same schedule as a family member.Giving a slight trim to already very short hair takes skill. And Melissa is the first stylist I’ve had to do it very well.Melissa is quiet and focused like a surgeon. If you want someone that may have been voted class clown, you might not want Melissa.She takes the time and applies her skills to get the most out each client’s hair texture. She has a rare quality, I call it finesse. Some may call it artistry.My family member loved her recent cut and she said Melissa is very quiet and gentle.

Walked in for an appointment and the lady couldn’t be bothered to do her job today I guess. She said they were completely booked though everyone was sitting around doing nothing - take your time and money to people who actually show interest in their jobs.

I came here with my friend while she got her hair done. The manager Michelle came off very ignorant and racist. She kept making comments about my friend’s hair being too curly and hard to deal with. She also asked if my friend’s hair had extensions in it as she couldn’t believe it was her hair and said normally people of color with long hair have extensions. She wasn’t doing her hair another stylist was but still felt the need to make rude comments and tell her that she needs to add a detangling fee cause her hair looks difficult . Every couple of minutes she continued to make a rude statements and even tried to get the stylist to over charge her. When the stylist told her it was correct she made a comment saying she shouldn’t have said anything and should have just let us be over charged. I will never come back to this establishment due to the ignorant comments made by Michelle. As a person of color we come to get our hair done at a nice establishment not be judged and ridiculed on the type of hair we have.

blud I asked for a small trim up to the middle of my ear ya put it a da bottom and then i cried and I still have that messed up hair and my friend who got inspired by me who grew long hair so did i and then you cut it toooooooooooooooooooooooo short when i wanted to keep the hair but with a small trim then when it was my brothers turn you guys were like ok this that but still messed it up you cut the right side not the left but he didnt notice but it grew back sooooooooooooooooo fast and i looked at the bad reviews and you always wet their hair you charge too much and i was 9 now 10 and my parents know im writing this review and the misspelled words those were on purpose you charge too much and i dont really like candy but I took 2 because i knew i deserved it.(longest sentence ever)never comin back

I went for a haircut and was treated like second class citizens. there was two women working. They had personalities like seahorses. They we're slow moving and they appeared to be not happy in their jobs. Neither one was smiling, and neither one helped with any questions. In my opinion I think you need younger staff at this location because the ones that are working now as of October 2nd 2023 need to retire.
