Absolutely do NOT recommend. My meal was disgusting. I ordered the Peanut Soup, which tasted burnt and weird. The fish was "tilapia" he said, it tasted like it was cooked 3 days prior. So my entire meal taste old and burnt. The only saving grace was the Jollof rice. So I basically paid $19 for some rice. Never again!

I've ate at almost all African restaurants in the DMV and SUNBIM has the BEST EGUSI ever! It's so delicious and well seasoned.

Friendly service but my meal missed the mark for me. The gentleman that took my order said he was from Nigeria but I wonder if where he is from in Nigeria simply cooks different from the part/region of Nigeria where my favorite Nigerian place is from... I ordered jollof and stewed fish and asked that my sauce ve spicy. I also noticed peanut butter soup (usually on Ghanaian menus) on the menu and also cassava. The drive home was not good and they really should get some better containers... My fish was dry, the stew fish sauce wasn't spicy at all and smelled/tasted/resembled ketchup... The peanut butter soup didn't taste like peanut butter or even close to how the Ghanaians make it and I can't put into words how the cassava tasted... I don't know..

It's a no for me. I called my order and my husband came in only to find they not only didn't start the order but they didn't even write it down. What's the point of even accepting a call in order if you aren't going to work on the order before someone gets there? I would prefer they don't take them or make you pay when you order. I ordered the jollof rice with chicken and peanut butter stew and cassava on the second dish. Maybe I'm spoiled by Suma's, but it's literally a few pieces (3 small pieces of chicken) over top of the rice and then the stew gravy over top. I mean like a leg, a half cut of a thigh and I don't even know what chopped piece the other one was. I prefer the meat chopped up and mixed in. The peanut stew also wasn't that flavorful. Chobas in Waldorf also does the "covered chicken" with the stew, but theirs is more flavorful. I didn't mind the price ($16 ish for the dish). BUT when my husband asked for pepper sauce they said it's $2.50. We have two dishes and we have to pay $2.50 for pepper sauce. And this picture is the size. I did like the rice. But I wouldn't come here again

I really wanted this to be a spot I frequent but I thought it was terrible. My very first time I came here I got j*** chicken that was cooked super hard. On Saturday night, I ordered peanut butter soup with chicken and jollof rice. The rice had a burnt taste and smell which was disgusting and the chicken needed more seasoning. I was told that my order would take 20 mins but ended up taking about 45-1 hour, which kinda pissed me off as I'm very impatient. The ONLY reason I'm giving it two stars is bc the man there was super nice, other than that, I won't be back!!!!

The food is simply amazing. The food simply took my taste buds back to my childhood. The prices are extremely reasonable however there may be a wait, but the food is definitely worth it.

This restaurant has really good food! The okra soup and egusi was spicy and flavorful. The restaurant service was super friendly. The owner even gave me a small sample of a homemade green juice she made, which was AMAZING! Glad I found this W. African closer to my home, when I would drive super far for these flavors. Even though it seems like a hole in the wall, it was enough to convince me to come here again, and again.

The service was quick but I probably wouldn't return. I got the j*** chicken with jollof and the ox tail with rice and peas. Everything was REALLY spicy which I wish I could have adjusted. The ox tail was not super tasty and was wayyyy more bone than meat which was disappointing. Favorite item was the j*** chicken. Overall, not worth it in my opinion but I've been struggling to find good ox tail in the area!

Customer service was exceptional! I got the peanut soup l, cassava with chicken and jellof rice and it was very good. It had just enough spice. The portioning is perfect for 2 ppl. I came back the VERY next day and got all peanut soup and chicken with white rice and once again, they did not fail me. The people there are very nice and welcoming. They have plenty of seats for dining in and they also cater!

Ordered delivery via Door Dash. Food arrived in a reasonable time and was still hot. Ordered the egusi chicken with Jollof rice and was very impressed. The rice and stew were flavorful and spicy. If I could take off a half star, I would for the chicken being either fried or baked hard, which I wasn't expecting. Not sure if that's their recipe or if it was overdone. Either way, I still enjoyed it since the stew kept things juicy. The portion was large. You can easily get 2 meals out of an entree. There are a few West African spots I go to in the area, but I'll be moving Sunbim to the top of my list. Can't wait to try more dishes and hope they are equally good.

I love African food. I am a fan of egusi soup with goat....can not go wrong. the goat was delicious. The soup was fresh. I asked for spicy, they did not do it. once I figure out how did to get there ( I am on bus and train) I will just go there and check out the place myself. I order via UBEREATS, during COVID Pandemic and I was really fiending for an African dish. In general, I think places get over when it is carry out. I asked for extra soup, did not get it. They do that because you are not there to address an issue. I would order from them again. Next time I will call after I order if I choose not to back to make sure I get what I asked for.
